I need someone to explain to me Gengar's appeal without just shouting that I had no friends to trade with over and over. I get why it's likeable, it's simple and well made, but come on. After GSC, its sprites/models stopped looking like a shadow, it's just a fat purple blob with a big grin. It doesn't look friendly, cute, scary or strong. It's a fat purple guy.

Plus the leap from Haunter to Gengar makes no sense. The arms should remain floating and detached from the rest of the body. GF even had a chance to fix this with M. Gaygar and they botched it.

It looks like all of those. The design is neat and simple, and yet it still works. It's definitely a cute and good design, and it fits with the idea of gradually becoming more solid, completing the line in a nice way.
