Kabutops and Kingdra were the whole reason drizzleswim was banned last gen, and they're still the main threats on rain.
Needs a mega and a good signature flying type move similar to hyperspace fury.

You're supposed to play a Pokémon by its strenghts, and Kabutops is the physical attacker under rain. You can say that Mega Swampert hit harder and is bulkier, but Kabutops is faster, don't hold a mega stone, don't waste your mega slot and if you like to take risk, you can slap either a Choice Band or Life Orb and make it deadly.

Sure, Marowak and Rampardos need speed control but A LOT OF THEM. They're slow, but not the slower compared to Escavalier or Reuniclus, also, they're very fragile, Marowak can work a little with its defense but its HP is lackluster, Rampardos is paper thin.
Mightyena is almost out of every league by low BST and average distribution. Everything about Mightyena is mediocre, it has Moxie Sucker Punch but Honchkrow does that better. Don't have enough raw power to pull Quick Feet and it isn't Bulky enough to play off Intimidate.
Pic related was good in Gen I. It had somewhat a lot of tools. But it just can't. It can't carry its own weight. It's godly Ingame but it falls too short in almost every format.It can work as an anti-rain but any "Anti" Pokémon is useless outside of that role
Gimmick is cool, moveset is godly but its stats are just too shitty to do anything.

And it hurts to type that. I like Mightyena a lot. Is a neat design, simple, but with enough details to make itself unique.
Back In Gen V I tried to pull of almost every set, but it wasn't enough back then. Now with fairies and Megas, it's even more complicated.

Sure, Sucker Punch is dangerous after a few boost... But you need to net a KO first. And if Sucker Punch and Crunch are your stronger moves, you'll struggle to net that first KO to start rolling. You ended being KO'd in the process.
It's very similar with Ledian, but in the other end. Ledian was designed to play defensively or supporting, but it falls short in everything. Mightyena could be either an attacker or a niche pivot, but it falls short in all those roles.
