Options have been whittled down to:
1) The Luchador
The Luchador is a masked hero who strikes fear into the hearts of baddies across Urobos. He's publicly known - kids love him, women want him, men want to be him. He entered the League to prove he was the #1 hero in Urobos, and became the Champion. He is charismatic, proud, and a little overbearing. He has swagger, and is not above taunting and making jokes about his foes. He's the kind of guy who would show up to your battle, put an arm around your shoulder way tighter than you're comfortable with, talk shit to the enemy, and then sit back and laugh while you fight (but help out if needed).
2) Composer/Conductor
The champion is an Urobosian musical Wunderkind who has risen meteorically through both the Urobosian Elite 4 to Champion and the music scene in Urobos. The Composer is known for his bombastic and emotional symphonies and concertos that are widely popular with both people and Pokemon alike. The Composer battles with equal bombast and vigor, treating each battle as if it was his next grand opus, often using his experiences battling as inspiration for his orchestral works. As a local Urobosian, the champ takes great interest and pride in his home and cares greatly for the people he performs for.

3) Pokeman B (Secret Identity)
Outside of the costume he is a charismatic guy who rose through his own hard work. He's well liked by most and takes on a mentor-esque position for young trainers. He seeks out problems before they get bigger. He was investigating ET and originally donned the Pokeman persona because he feared reprisal and didn’t have enough evidence to prove their guilt. Acting a bit sillier to hide his true identity (and as he confesses himself “the costume just brings it out of you”). In costume he acts like a Power Ranger/Sentai. Speaking about justice, friendship, etc.
4) Environmentalist/Ranger
He understands the importance of technology and the good it can do. He also knows the importance of respecting nature and striking a balance between the two. As a ranger he protects the environment and the region as a whole. Whenever disaster strikes, he can be found on the front lines doing whatever he can to stop it as well as protecting the pokemon and people in danger. As a native born Urobian, he is patriotic and strives to uphold the region's culture and tradition, while still looking toward the future as well. He is friendly and charismatic, but he also knows when to get serious.

Composer would be my choice. A musical genius that presumably have gotten everything in his life served on a silver platter, but is still actually a competent battler sounds like somebody I would love to beat. Composer is a cool theme too.
Luchador just sounds like a Crasher Wake clone to me and I can't take him serious.
Pokeman B sounds incredibly anti-climatic since you already defeated and exposed ET. So you have practically surpassed him even before the battle.
Ranger is good enough, but he just sounds a tad bit generic.

We said no to gen 6 mechanics because the balance would be off for most of them with no fairy type. Back in 2012, before gen 6, we had to make a decision as a project that in the (at the time) unlikely event gen 6 brought a new type, would we want to include it in our game. Ultimately, as a project, we voted no to that. With all of the other changes that gen 6 brought, we felt that having gen 6 mechanics but with no fairy type could lead to imbalances that we could not plan for. We know what gen 5 and no fairies looks like and we know what gen 6 with fairies looks like, but we do not know what gen 6 with no fairies or gen 5 with fairies looks like. So rather than fumble in the darkness, we're opting to stick to what is known to honor that past survey.
If Gen 7 comes out before we release our game, I fully expect that decision to be revisited, but that's a shitstorm for another time.

Dreamdery Ranch Sidequest Outline Submissions:
Your outline must be 250 words or less. It must contain a rough chronological series of events including the primary task the player sets out on and how it is resolved, who the major players are (people or pokemon) and where the events happen. You do not have to include a specific reward in the outline if you want. Do not include the implications that the conclusion of the sidequest will have in the greater region in your outline.
As per the the survey of expectations that the sidequest should have, include it wholy within Dreamdery Ranch, do not have more than a couple stages and do not interweave it or link it with otherwise entirely seperate sidequests
Example Outline:
Steven is the rancher of Dreamdery Ranch. After achieving the badge for the Quaver Gym you can talk to Steven at the entrance to Dreamdery Ranch. When you get into the ranch you find that his barn is completely vandalized by spray paint. He tells you that there are pesky Macabra spray painting his barn at night and he needs your help to catch them in the act. The player must return at night and stake out to watch. Just as you settle in a Dreamdery from the pen hops onto the roof and starts spray painting. You and the rancher watch dismayed as a Macabra comes out of the forest to stop the Dreamdery, but it's not enough. Many Dreamdery start teaming up on the Macabra and you jump out of hiding to stop it from getting hurt. After the event the rancher thanks you for getting to the bottom of the problem and gives you a Smeargle. He says he'll control his Dreamdery from now on. After the 4th gym you can go back to the ranch and you'll find a bunch of Dreamdery painting at easels. If you talk to Steven he'll tell you about the great artistic talent he found in his flock and ask you to help him decide which painting to auction in Vivace. You can walk around the fields looking at the paintings. After you choose Steven thanks you and gives you an Oran berry

Green eyes because it's very reptilian but also not as cliche as blue eyes white dragon. Also definitely want him to have blond hair because it makes him look more like a book nerd.
Also, I was thinking his outer gear should be mostly plain - black glasses/coat, tan/beige pants, silver buckle for his belt, and either a white or off-white shirt. Very literary, intentionally underdramatic. But then when he battles the coat comes off and he's got most of his colors on the tattoo arms and accessories.
I thought it was fitting with the whole author gimmick (dont judge a book by its cover, how weird trinkets tell more of a story than your general fashion sense). None of the active guys post these threads... I'm a lurker on Skype, I post these whenever big things are happening so that 1) you guys can remember that Sage exists, and 2) Sage can remember that /vp/ still exists.
