you dont even need the d pad. bike all the way to the left of the path by the cave, press up to push up under the sign, and then you'll be good to go. you bike right through the town without touching anything.

I use the D-Pad because the joystick can slip very very slightly up and you'll nudge shit. The D-pad doesn't risk movement unless you have gorilla hands

I usually run between the battle chateau sign and the last tile before the bridge. I usually get egg after turning back from the bridge, so going longer is just a waste of time. Going Zubat Roost/Route 5 is utterly useless as you probably just leave an egg sitting around for minutes.
