I've had success sliding my thumb right to left so that I get LK, MK, MK, LK really fast. Then finish with HK on the triggers.
It's hard to do though. If I want to do legs the easy way is to just dash forward then mash on HK during the dash. It will give you close st HK into HK legs.

I'm learning DOA5, never played it before, I have like 7 hours logged total in the game. I'm playing marie rose against my cousin whose playing the drunken fist guy, and holy fuck. My cousin has also never played the game before and has logged maybe 3 hours total? But this drunken fist dude is wrecking me. I'm trying to block things and like, find openings but his mixups seem to be infinite and you know what yes I'm mad.
What am I supposed to do when all he does is push buttons and shit on me? I try so hard to block and go for a read and I win maybe 4/6 matches but he doesn't even block and he wins against me. The west coast and the east coast didn't get along that well. Nobody liked fanatiq or smoothviper, Everyone was cocky and loud, all the bad players were constantly on the good player's dicks. Iron Man was virtually unexplored and nobody realized combofiend was argueably top 3 best team in the game. No white people were good at it outside of Mixup, almost no japs played and if they did they always played either juggernaut or storm.
Almost nobody outside of Sanford and xecutioner could do sentinel reflys, and everybody played on that Ricky Martin custom mix. And top 16 was generally the same at every tournament.
Its kind of the same now, except now Khaos wins everything and his cheerleaders are constantly on his dick. And Iron Man is everywhere and people are realizing that he deserves to be called top tier.
Just watch SBIII and some 2004ish money matched on Preppy and you'll get a sense of what it was like.

Mid range poking is the best position for him. He's got a lot of moves to cover a lot of options like a mid/high counter (low hits just go through the counter), ability to absorb projectiles and choose when to send them back (depending on the attack strength you chose), command grab special and super, a decent overhead, etc.
He's mostly unchanged from the original 98 since the main change to him is making his QCF (x2) P (pic related) super more consistent when hitting airborne opponents.

Not quite, he has shit pokes but strong counter-pokes. Unlike halfscreen autofootsies such as Vega's and Bison's normals, counterpokes take skill to use since they usually have poop range. Against someone who knows how to whiff punish, you can't expect to throw out s.HP and win. You might with autofootsies characters like Vega and Bison since they're stuff is too fast to punish on reaction

That's the thing. A Dudley player has to read the normal, space himself, and press it at the right time to successfully counterpoke. If his read is wrong, he just threw out one of his many million frame recovery normals. If a Dudley player is throwing out s.HP randomly, wait and sweep it, it has a million years of recovery and is an easy reaction whiff punish.

Dudley combats autofootsies with his own autofootsies.
Most people who play him will throw out as many random pokes as characters like Bison and Vega.
Any character can be played "with skill" as you say, i.e. you can't get away with just sonic booms with guile at high-intermediate levels but people at low-level complain love to complain about how braindead and easy he is to use.
Dudley is a good character all around save for his ability to do 300+ damage combos from a counterpoke 1/3 of the screen away and you can't really punish it unless you have a fireball or a forward moving sweep. Sure you can say he has a hard time getting in but you can say the same thing about a couple of the characters without fireballs. Fireballs aren't even an issue for Dudley as he can just use ducking and ultra 1 to get past them.
