over a long CD, and the transfer isn't a full 20/40/60/80 damage, it's just a percentage of that, sure it's base damage, but it's not significant to illusions when you can only have 3 up at most. Once you have manta, then sure max metamorph comes into play with a larger impact, but prior to that farming faster with illusions is better than searching for kills.

The most fun I've had in the last 20 days playing dota was a game where I lost horribly with my allies being 2/24 or so, with a Russian guy playing silencer mid, going Aghs Refresher after boots with no mobility or anything and just pulling his double ulti for the damage whenever off cooldown.
The best part is he was cursing at the other russians through the mic the entire game, in a hilariously angry tone.

When maxing metamorph over illusions, you can't send your illusions every now and then to the jungle to farm camps at around 10 minutes, rather you sit in lane farming for 10 minutes until you hit level 10 with max illusions and hopefully an yasha, then you send illusions to clear camps. But if you max stats before maxing metamorph, you can literally start sending illusions to clear camps before getting a full yasha completed (after treads ofc). If people value getting t1s a minute or two faster than having more farm, than just lol.
