I'm a freelance translator, and from my experience, to translate a bishop game it would take about 6-8 months, meaning before I would start, I'd ask for $6,000 to $8,000 ($1,000 a month is how much I need to survive and not starve to death + get booted out of house). Kirby, who translated Subahibi, got $100 in donations the whole time. The point I'm trying to make here is that not many people donate to fan translators, so none of them really care too much about them, I would think.

Donations are definitely welcome, you're doing a good thing for sure. It's just that you said, "so I'd rather just donate to people like Loe so they can do it for me", and I wanted to be clear: fan translators do not work for donations because they don't get any. Fan translators will work on things with or without donations, it's 100% passion.
It's like giving $10 to a homeless man. The man will be very happy to receive the money and perhaps eat a warm meal for the first time in awhile. The game is easy enough you can play it with basic knowledge of moon. I only know around a 100 kanji and had no trouble 100% it with some help from jisho.
If you're interested in the story then you'll have to wait someone hopefully picks it up. It's a simple story though, wealthy guy dies, suspicious guy has to get rid of his stuff, offers you the girl because you saved his life a while ago and that's pretty much it. The rest is just interactions with her and how she starts trusting you little by little.

Firstly, if the game is not in VNR database yet, your submitted translation in Shared Dictionary would not work. So you need to add the game title to the game database. Just add a name in the game to the Shared Dictionary, like コノハ = Konoha. Then close VNR, run it again, then force it to update the game database by right clicking the springboard. It will look freezes after a while, just while a couple minutes. To make sure it's in the game database you can restart VNR again.
Now after the game title registered in game database, you can add a regex line to remove the speaker names. It'd be better if you give me the text examples or screenshots, but generally it'd be like this :
pattern : ^(コノハ|ハイジ|エンジェル|エミリー|ルンパ|アルム)(.+)
translation : \2
If the text is in different window, you can specify it by context, pic related.

Part 1 is put in brackets and matches the character name:

so it matches on of the 6 names.
Part 2 matches the rest of the text
(.+)
"." means any character and the "+" means at least one, but unlimited. It basically matches everything that consist of at least one character.
Using brackets around the 2 parts allows him to use them as so called "capture groups".
Capture group 0 is the whole match(character name + text), capture group 1 is the first bracket (character name only), capture group 2 is the second bracket (only the text). Thats why he put \2 as translation. He wants to only take the text and remove the character name.

One more question on a different VNR problem. I just started trying to play http://www.dlsite.com/maniax/work/=/product_id/RJ163894.html which has a custom UI that tracks the player's HP. The problem is that it gets picked up a million times in the ITH engine, breaking translation entirely. I also tried using VNR's own text hooking engine which does not pick up the UI element, but it repeats text and translates lines backwards in RPG Maker games (as in it will translate the second line before the first line in a particular text popup). Is there a way to make ITH ignore the UI or to fix VNR's engine's issues? I haven't been able to find any options like ITH has.

Yeah I always make sure to check text options for every new game. Unfortunately for whatever reason the UI is picked up in the same thread as all other text. The ITH engine has the options to avoid repeating text and whatnot, but it doesn't block the HP readout so what it ends up doing is inserting the readout after every character of text. The VNR engine doesn't have any options at all; you can't even choose what threads to use or block (though in this case that wouldn't help anyway). I have a feeling it's just each engine's own limitations but I wanted to check if you guys know of any options I missed.
