Which was incredibly inconsequential. It really didn't matter if the birthday and the fire didn't happen on the same day if Hanako was still depressed about it on her birthday. Which happened to be the day Hisao approached her. From what I gathered, the biggest problem was that Hisao went to see her on that day instead of giving her a day's worth of time to herself. I like to imagine that she goes on to be something outlandish, like a child psychologist. She has a really good grasp on those abstract feelings, and I think if she did a lot of objective studying on where those emotions come from and understand how the human mind outputs those feelings, she would be wonderful for helping younger people who feel the same but don't know how to express it.
It just feels like the logical epilogue for her route. Her big character conflict was that her form of personal expression wasn't understood by others, so she goes on to get a better grasp on that facet of herself.

I don't think they were satisfied with Rin being an airhead, though. Her final scene ends on the note of Rin finding happiness in the form of someone who wants to come to love and support her despite not having a total grasp on understanding who she is and how she functions. The idea that love can exist without understanding.
Whereas Hisao's personal growth will take him more in the direction of developing empathy and figuring out how to deal with his own emotions, it's easy to speculate that Rin would go on to discover new means of expressing herself. In the route, she does mention that painting only has meaning to her because it's "her," and not because she values the medium itself. Anything would work if it helped her get her thoughts into a tangible form. That's why I say psychology school is a possibility, because that's literally the study of the human mind and understanding what makes us feel or act. I still acknowledge that it's an outlandish notion, but at least understand the logic going into it.

I'd say there's nothing that compares with it but it's literally the only visual novel that I've verbed. And that's generally how it goes with a lot of things. You'll play something, or watch something, or read something, and you'll get to the end and think, "Wow, I wish there was more of this, nothing can live up to this standard," but then eventually you'll play/watch/read something else and it's not unlikely that you'll enjoy that as well, if not as much.
But with KS, I dunno man, despite what I just said it's probably literally the most beautiful piece of fiction I have ever experienced. I mean shit, it made me not fap for a week after I finished first route. Nothing else has that kind of power that I can think of. And I don't even know ANY other visual novels.
