So I just got restarted in AC3, and while I'm making due with the POS I start out with, I'm having some problems with purchase prioritization. First decision I made was to upgrade all of my cores with an objectively better FCS, which I don't regret. However, second decision I went with was the top-line Kisaragi generator.
I'm not 100% on if this was a good decision, but the situation gets harder. I'm getting less money per mission because AP damage and ammo cost are stacking up. So, when should I be getting new weapons, and what is the best way to minimize money loss from ammo/AP recovery?

Don't use missiles early on, they're expensive as shit and will destroy your earnings
Get the 1000 ammo MG as soon as possible because its ammo costs actually aren't super high and it'll complete most missions easily. I don't remember if you have to get a shop upgrade to get it in AC3 or not though, sorry. If you do just make due with the next highest ammo count MG until it appears. Likewise I can't really tell you if that particular generator was a mistake, it's been a while.
Generators and boosters tend to be the first things I upgrade in AC games because it sucks balls to feel sluggish and mobility comes from boost hopping more than anything else, which leads to taking less damage.
You can also buy a basic laser rifle if you really want to cut back on your ammo costs but it's not too worth it in my opinion. An EO core is a nice way to supplement your firepower without incurring ammo cost penalties too.

So what do you guys think is the highest damage potential you can get out of a Vindicator? I'm currently running two kinds:
1AA - 2 PPCs, 2 Mediums, largest engine I can fit. It does well but PPCs are precision damage weapons, not damage farming weapons. Tends to cap out at 500 damage per match.
1X - 2 AC/5s with 6 tons of ammo and the biggest engine I can fit. Slower, less JJs, less maneuverability, but higher average damage and better DPS. However the ACs being stuck on the low slung arm really fucks this robot quite often.
What else can you guys think of taking for MASSIVE DAMAGE farming on these shitty robots?

Lots of kills especially kmdds, as many assists as possible, lots of damage overall.
Match score counts other things too, like scouting which you can ignore for the tourney.
To get 3k, you'd need 10 matches of 300 points each on average. That's basically just 600 damage, and 4 solo kills where you get entire solo/kmdd/killing blow, no assists no team damage, and you survive and win. Any mech can do that in the right circumstances.

As much as everyone likes to joke around, despite the lowest common denominator and minimal viable strategy, the pig makes real money. It also spends real money. It has had 40-60 employees since 2012 (as well as a history before 2012 but who cares about that).
Now most any other company would have been able to do more for less, but there's a reason the pig is still up and running and will be up and running for a long time to come and that is all the golden whales. There might be quite a few less today than before but they still keep the ship afloat.
Are there companies genuinely interested in making robot games if the pig didn't? There's certainly some demand. I guess the best information to figure that out will come next year with heavy gear and how much success that will have.

There's no through armor criticals in MWO, right? Or is there some kind of a bug with clan ppcs? Most of the time they do dogshit damage, but sometimes you just seem to bulldoze some guy through armor to nothing. Other times you can hammer an enemy with all torsos open and they just won't die.
The sudden instagibs aren't random headshots either, I check achievements every time it happens and the numbers haven't increased.

Clan PPCs do a form of splash damage. 10 to the part you hit, and 2.5 to up to 2 adjacent areas (the head doesn't count) and if it's a limb it's only the 1 adjacent area.
If any part of the ppc damage hits structure it has a chance for 1-3 crits which can do more damage as well as blow up equipment inside. If you crit ammo or a gauss rifle it can blow up for significant damage.

I'm getting an average of FOUR HUNDRED PLUS. My very first match with an AH (that was also a fluke) gave me a headstart of 590 standard match score and 5 KMDDs and 846 damage. The problem with the rest of the matches is that I have a tendency to spread damage across the enemy team, because you know, TEAMWORK and helping others survive and shit.
I do not care to be #1 but I don't fucking understand this retarded two sets of scoring rules. Guess I gotta just try and setup 4 brawling duels every match until the score goes up.
