The problem are the small lords. The ones that hold fiefs and such.

depends on context
if freelancer code replaces existing native code you need to put things in the right place

I think Fudai or Fudai Daimyo fits the smaller lords while great lords could be only Daimyo, Wonder how easy is to change that stuff myself.

As I said in >>148507375 GekokujoNew is for 3.0. Since the anon that made that seems to be gone did TweakBro make it? I decided to re-make it for 3.1b. I also included the popular submod of GekokujoNew "Nipland Adventures" which adds in western assets so you do a PIC RELATED run. "campaign AI" is actually "campaign difficulty"
if you have it on highest, whichever faction you join will get gimped by having 1/2 the recruitment rate and various other maluses
putting "campaign AI" on "Average" actually puts everyone on an even footing
it actually has nothing to do with AI decisionmaking, it has to do with how strong the AI factions are versus the faction you support
when you join them as a merc, if you don't have difficulty on Average you're actually gimping them unless you're actively destroying the enemy

Daimyo doesn't technically mean Great Lord, it's short of Daimyoden which means Large - Personal Land aka "the holder of a large plot of personal land" aka a feudal lord.
>>
>>148508725
>Never use japanese names when you can use english names that mean the same thing
Daimyo doesn't translate to Great Lord no matter how you spin it and titles usually get a pass - we don't call Shogun "general", despite that being exactly what it means.

it really is though
the powerful daimyo is a great lord
the small daimyo is a lesser lord
it's literally feudalism and it's 1:1 translatable unless you're some nitpicking weeaboo who thinks keikaku doesn't mean plan because of some small nuances that noone gives a shit about
>>
lets talk about 1257, who are the best archers on the game? what about the best infantry? or the best spearmen? or cavalry? (teutonic order duh) the best crossbowmen?
>>
>>148513115
No, Myou does mean 'name', but it also implies privacy - that is, the land you have to your name.
A Daimyo is not a Great Lord.

>>148512714
将軍 literally means "commander of an army". It's short for "Sei-i Taishōgun (征夷大将軍?, "Commander-in-Chief of the Expeditionary Force Against the Barbarians"), the individual governing the country at various times in the history of Japan, ending when Tokugawa Yoshinobu relinquished the office to Emperor Meiji in 1867.", but we don't call it by the full japanese name, the full English name, or the shortened English name.

>>148513613
It's feudalism but daimyo neither translates to feudal lord nor does it translate to Great Lord.
>small daimyo is a lesser lord
Daimyo can never be vassals of other daimyo, and furthermore
>he Battle of Sekigahara in the year 1600 marked the beginning of the Edo period. Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu then reorganized roughly 200 daimyo and their territories into han, which were assessed by rice production. Those heading han assessed at 10,000 koku (50,000 bushels) or more were considered daimyo.
By Tokugawa it was literally defined by how rich you were.

well normally in mods with breakable gates, or just general breakable shit, when you attack the object you see the health bar and usually the collision detection is better than the one in geko, since in geko the people behind the gate always end up getting murdered

Realistic, I think it should have been a bloodbath for both sides. Granted, the enemy lost 200 soldiers before we moved to the next 2 stages of the siege, in which they only lost 5-7 soldiers, having the defensive advantage should mean that we should have lost at least 2 soldiers for each one of them, not the other way around.

I could probably take on a city with the same amount of troops defending as sieging.

Now I asked for the town. If Nobunaga doesn't give it to me, I will declare rebellion. He probably will though, so I will heavily reinforce this town and move to get Asakura's last city. That one he won't give me, then I will declare rebellion with basically all of Asakura's territory. I will try to move swiftly to crush Nobunaga's power and recruit my father-in-law and my brothers-in-law there.

How are sieges in 1257 anyway? Chokepoints?

>>148516149
Attacking the gate does nothing btw, just standing around brings the gate down. The AI at least doesn't attack the gate. I wish it was the way you described.

What bothers me the most is how easy it is. Yes, waiting in line to get in the ladders sucked but I feel in geko the defenders have no advantage at all.
>>
>>148516339
>How are sieges in 1257 anyway?

>>148516339
just seems weird to make this entirely new gate system when there's been a universal one around for ages, that i'm pretty sure is rooted in the native game or at least NW since it's like killing those training dummies and sapper builds
>How are sieges in 1257 anyway?
depends on the scene, some are really simple while others are multi stage, though a number suffer from bad pathing or invisible walls
there's breakable gates, multiple ladders, openable gates, boiling oil poured on the attackers just off the top of my head

I can't possibly imagine how they balance the mongols sieging shit.

>>148516801
Well, it sounds fun. Are they bloody or do that many access points make them pretty easy to win?
>>
>>148516902
>Are they bloody or do that many access points make them pretty easy to win?
it really depends on the scene, there's quite the variety
on some it comes down to extremely tight chokepoints like in the italian or nordic cities, since you're fighting through the streets of the cities and the area is pretty linear
others are really sprawling like some of the muslim cities, and there's enemy positions all round the city
and others still are on pretty open maps, where the inside of the castle has specific chokepoints
basically it's really diverse
>>
>>148517064
Well, I hope I get something more bloody with geko in the future and I'm curious about 1257 now.

Chokepoints and ladders, I liked the vanilla and VC sieges. I repelled attackers thrice my size. Sure, we got some heavy losses, but we won. I'm not sure I can do this in geko. I mean I can create chokepoints in the gates or retreat most forces to the spawn point, that should fuck the AI big time. But that only helps me, in vanilla it was a slaughter to get a castle and I usually went through other ladders to divide the enemy forces and break the chokepoints.
>>
>>148517373
on a lot of the 1257 scenes it's viable to use formations which makes them more enjoyable on those scenes that allow it
>>

Alright, so now it's time to plan my own faction. I own Lida Castla and Arako, and I will probably own Tsu. I will lose Arako once I declare independence, but I will keep lida and all villages around Tsu. Not that it matters since I won't be able to defend them.

Now the thing is what I will do. Independence will be declared once I conquer Imahama and Nobunaga refuses to give it to me. Tsu is too close to Oda territory, so I will probably make that my base of operations against Nobunaga. I will wear down the clan's force and I will convince Nobunaga to answer to Tokugawa's provocation and go to war. They are at war with Asakura, Ikko Ikki and another distant clan. Tokugawa would actually keep them busy and all those wars would mean an easy peace, though I might want to Kiyosu before suing for peace. Without cities, the Oda clan will be broken. Besides, I own business there and the city loves me.

My right to rule is around 50, so I need to seriously work on that. I won't get any lords right of the bat and the only companions I'm willing to give fiefs are Yoshio and maybe Musashi. Sessai maybe, but I'd need to find him.

The question is, when I will put the plan in motion. The more I wait, the more I have the chance of losing my strategist title, which would severely hamper it all. But I also need to move my elite ranged forces from Lida Castle to Tsu and then reinforce it and raise another force to Imahama. Then there's the problem of Asakura. If I don't want defeat them completely, they will declare war for their shit (if I don't inherit the war). If I wipe them out, I will be helping Nobunaga.

I'd like to crush Nobunaga a bit before suing for peace, if I can't crush them alone, which I probably can't.

Decisions, decisions.

Right now, around 400. I'mt getting that to 650 as we speak - I'm blowing all my money in 72 ji-samurai then withdrawing 20K from the treasury to blow in villagers and upgrades for the troops. I will train these troops for 2 days max and I will deposite them somewhere, probably Lida. Then I move the rest of my main force from Lida to Tsu and recruit another 250 (probably only villagers now, maybe a few mercs) and I march on a village or the last Asakura city.

I need to start the war with Tolugawa (the yellow guys controlling Hamamatsu) soon or the casus belli will expire and Nobunaga will not want war. If I start it too soon, they might sue for peace with someone else.

Overall though I think I will work with a one-week time frame. Lida Castle will be the least defended holding while the two cities will (hopefully) get the bulk of my forces. If I get overwhelmed, I will fall back to Tsu and try to make it in a fortress. I will get all villages raided back to the stone age but I will still hold the city.

Had less money than I thought I had, so I'm fucked. I'm getting my prisoners and emptying my armory to raise some funds, might even have to do the dishonorable thing and raid a village.

I'm now practically broke, only have 7K in me and 1K in the treasury.

I'm moving the rest of the troops to Tsu and leaving Lida with 192 soldiers, plus more 50 the recruits are bringing.

It pains me to leave 72 retainers there, they cost more than 22K.

Since the wife tells me I need to buy tools and more shit to move our residence to Tsu I will probably come back here and take the retainers too, leaving the place defended by trained farmers. Great.
I bet it's the first thing Tokugawa will come after.

modders out there should add an option to force-recruit soldiers at the price of morale

says you normally get like 5-10 average peasants at best, with forced you can get an easy 20-30 fully armed men that will decrease morale and have a chance to desert

after all, why can't a lord push some farmers around to die for him?

Nobunaga got himself in another war without my help and they are pretty powerful, the Miyoshi clan holds the imperial capital and quite a few cities. So I need to move a little faster than I expected. Way faster.

What the fuck are you thinking Nobunaga you fucking nigger.

We are at war with the Ikko Ikki, Asakura, Myoishi, some random buttfuck clan and now Tokugawa too? 5 fucking clans at the same time? I now I'm expanding the clan but that's on my own interest.

Fuck this, I'm bailing out Nobunaga. This will be your undoing.

I will finish training the peasants at Iida, I will ride to Uesugi territory, get more troops and then we will ride to take my city that you won't give me but I don't give a fuck because you are stretched too thin.

Charlemagne's biographer Einhard states that Gisela had been dedicated to religion since her childhood. She became a nun at Chelles Abbey, where she was eventually made abbess.[1] As the abbess at Chelles Abbey, Gisela oversaw one of the most prolific nuns' scriptoria active in the 8th and 9th centuries.[2] According to Einhard she had good relations with her brother Charlemagne, who "treated her with the same respect which he showed his mother."
I bet she was literate too.

Maybe. Charlemagne was notoriously illiterate and uneducated, so it is likely his siblings were the same way, but nothing says that Gisela couldn't have fared better than Charlemagne once she was an adult.
