Massive, sweeping and otherwise complete corporate changes. Fire every slav in the entire company from the lowest to the higher ups on the totem pole. Replace with people that have a degree of competency and the capacity to take criticism and engage properly and articulately with the remaining user base.
After expunging the nationalistic cancer, severe and considerable rebalancing of tanks and planes(actual and correct fucking flights models to start), with slav UFO's and Backyard Playset bouncehouses getting the nerf bat hard. Follow that up with the naziboo ufo's getting proper uptiering and tweaks to make them more in line.
Improve SL and RP pay-outs post match. While there still has to be a grind, it doesn't have to be a laborious and tiresome chore like it presently is. Further this point with legitimate and real incentivization on playing the fucking objectives. Shitters, cowards, campers and otherwise burdens in general would face SL/RP penalties and bans for pissing away matches, facerolling like retards and feeding free frags and caps to the other team. The casual and reddit cancer needs to go.
Lastly and most importantly, the complete and total IP range bans for the entire South American continent and Russia at large.

The game's not doing too bad, honestly. The main thing that would get me playing more is making the grind less insane; tank RB needs to be boosted like plane RB was, and high tier tanks and modules for all vehicles at high tier need a dramatic RP drop. Parts and FPE should be basic for all tanks.
Some vehicles need rebalancing; I'm only really confident on tanks, here, but I can point to the sherman line as badly overtiered.

Let's work through this. What nation do you play? Germany has many competitive options in the tier that can deal with them frontally now, while the UK's guns are solid, though their lack of explosive filler is sometimes a pain. America struggles a bit, but they have the height and gun depression to really abuse hull-down, the one really massive weakness of the T-34.
Remember, blaming the game is just refusing a chance to learn.

I've been playing brits since they came out, dude.
Most of being good in tanks is hiding behind rocks and shooting people in the side or arse anyway. How a tank performs head-on isn't irrelevant but if you're in a short-range slugging match you probably goofed somewhere. It's why tanks like the hellcat, bulldog and cromwell/comet are some of the best in the game.

As I see it, I have the choice of slow, medium armor, mediocre gun, OR average speed, bullet proof(?) armor, and the same gun as the other option.

In general >>148479331 is correct, you want to be faster in virtually all situations. This is not primarily because you need to hit sides to penetrate, the brit guns are generally good to great for-tier, but because if you ambush someone from the side it'll usually mean you get a shot or two off before they're in a position to return fire (brit high-RoF is wonderful here). If you took out their gunner and engine, or traverse, or something equally major in those shots, they're fucked. You do need to try and remember where crew sit, though, given solid shot is just a laser-beam.
That said, the second churchill (VII?) is a great comedy option, given that unless it's facing tigers/panthers there shouldn't be anything that can frontpen it on the battlefield except on a tiny MG slot you can angle away. If you have people you can trust it can be tactically effective to serve as a durable distraction while they flank, but it's also just fun as hell to advance slowly and bounce everything.
Matilda is the other infantry tank I would recommend for -20* gun depression. It's insane and can hull-down anywhere. The armour's not bulletproof, but sat behind a ridge with a sliver of gun poking out it might as well be.
In general, cruiser line, flank, but those two are probably the ones I've had the most fun in just because they're annoying as hell. And to be honest, yeah, the 17pdr is a bit disappointing. It's only really worthwhile with sabot.

Tier I- A13 Cruiser, Crusader, Tetrach
Tier II-Also Crusaders, Cromwells
Tier III- Not a great rank, Comet is good, Challenger is a really shitty advance on it.
Tier IV- Centurion time, party hard, though your entire playstyle changes from gofast to being tacticool as fuck. Charioteer to relive gofast glory days.
Tier V- Chieftain just shits on everything. If you're a true operator use the insane muzzle velocity to become an AA vehicle.

Comet is a fantastic tank if you can hit first every time. In one on one engagements it might be one of the best tanks in the game because the first shot will almost always pen and disable, and then you can kill it at your leisure.

And APDS muzzle velocity will help you a lot with that first hit, too. Sabot also seems to fuck up everything in a cone around it, too, unlike solid shot that kills whatever you hit directly and turns things hugging the primary target yellow. It's also got good speed, so you can avoid H2H in the first place. All-round an excellent tank.
