If you're trying to do hauling contracts and hauling contracts only for muh space trucking, then just stop while you're ahead and accept the fact that haulers get paid a fucking pittance because there's freighters in each region that hoard any contract they see that they can fit in their freighter and then do them all at once. You will be lucky if you can find a contract for more than 1.5 mil/jump unless you're hardcore and are doing JF contracts.
I have been flying T1 indies for fucking ever. T2s are nice but a Mammoth and Wreathe can get everything you need done yourself without having to rely on shitters in freighters taking an entire day to move your load 4 jumps. A properly fitted Wreathe can tell lowsec gatecamps to lolfuckyourself and if you scout and use map stats, you can safely navigate null with it too.

Depending on what youre doing, investing in a BR might be worth it. I don't usually go into null with my Wreathe but it CAN do it if you take precautions, it may also be safer to huff it for a bit and take multiple trips to drop your stuff off in a lowsec system, and only then use a T1 to haul it the rest of the way to a market.
Also always remember that you have Jitawhores like me checking regions on EVECentral for good trades, and we will go to you and pick up your shit from a local market for you if the price is worth it.

People generally pay around 1m per jump for courier contracts. Not comparable to some other isk-making activities, true, but it's pretty good for hauling.

Are you talking about sell-buy trading? I dont do that, only scrublords do. I do sell-sell, so I look at the price you're selling it, compare it to Jita/Amarr/Dodixie prices, and if I feel like I can make a good profit buying from you and reselling at one of the hubs, I will. I usually get batches of trades per region and make about 200-300 million profit, more if I hit the jackpot.
It kind of sounds like Im trying to take you for a ride since Im buying your product at a cheap price and then flipping it at substantial markups. With the rate of player falloff, and even accounting for temporary spikes in players when they release terrible updates, Elite on Steam will be dead in about a year and a half unless they do something to fix their player retention issues. A lot of their players don't play on Steam, so I estimate 3 - 5 years until Frontier shelves Elite for good.
Trust me, Frontier trying to keep "grieffers" out of the game is not the reason that game is dropping like a rock.
