First for ants
First for ants
First for ants.
I've never understood those alert distances. All I know is the serpent will chase you from seemingly across the entire level so it's pretty far I guess.
How big is a tile, anyway?
>>148308450
shut the fuck up if it's not about ants

Excuse me anon, I can't seem to find the ants in your post. Where did you put them?

hey guys im an ant
anyone want to hang out and do ant things with me?
alone
MODS ARE ASLEEP, POST SPIDERS
Was thinking I'd run this Cataclysm DDA build for standard point Really Bad Day start. Any criticism would be welcome, constructive or otherwise.
+10 points for Really Bad Day, all into stats for an even 12 in all stats.
12/12 traits
>Addictive Personality, Glass Jaw, Heavy Sleeper, Light-Weight, Near Sighted, Squeamish, Trigger Happy, Truth Teller, Ugly
>Less Sleep, Light Eater, Light Step, Night Vision, Packmule, Robust Genetics, Weak Scent
No skills.
Relevant Balance Mods:
>Slow Zombies
With casul Slow Zombies I should be able to get through the first 24h and it would make things easier for later. Does this seem decent? The hunter zombies and dogs etc would still be able to run me down, so would giant wasps, giant toads etc.
Plans involve making improvised lockpick and improvised crowbar from crashsites and broken stuff, then doing nightraids for essentials before moving between mansions etc in the outskirts of towns.

>alone
But all the fun ant activities are done in groups.
How do you drag a dead insect bigger than you when you're alone?
How do you swarm over anything alone?
How do you bumrush an innocent bei- I mean we don't do that, we aren't wasps after all. It's wasps who do it.
How do you ant alone?

>>148308976
It's more fun when you go balls in, with no slow zed ezmode. Die a few times, then finally acquire a basement, first aid and survival.
Don't pick tweaker start though - it's full RNG. Regular one is high in RNG enough as it is.
You want to GTFO the city as soon as possible without getting a lot of zombies following you. Eat 2 datura seeds to gain a ghetto painkiller effect (it will kill your dexterity and focus though). Then you can go back to scan for first aid and antibiotics.
Uh. h-hey do you guys smell anything funny?
>>148309218
I'm not a tweaker, just regular shower victim.
I've done it before as long as there's not a rottweiler outside or you start encased in glass on the edge of the building it should be fine with the mod.
Won't even regular zombies run me down if I don't have slow zombies though?

now, I don't remember the specifics of Addictive
but that seems like a fucking awful combination
>>148309218
>>148309393
Nothing wrong with slow zombies imo
Early on you won't have a ranged weapon, so if you want to get into town, you're going to have to wade into the horde anyway. Once you have a ranged weapon, zombies aren't really an issue regardless.
>>148310124
It starts you drunk but the tweaker part is optional.
Daily reminder that ants don't even acknowledge the existence of large mammals such as humans and thus you will never do ant things together.

What in the fuck happened and why did he go insano? It felt like he was getting stronger after every blow.
>>148311973
Back in my day it wasn't, but I don't know what it is these days.
>>148312079
They can poke at 1-3 range, which is why I was curious if you considered them ranged. You can have a pointy stick like 30 seconds after you spawn, which will kill a few zombies pretty easily.

if you're picking near sighted, also pick far sighted for free points
personally i can't stand addictive personality and I never pick it (especially with tweaker) but it's usually fine
i recommend packmule/night vision 100% of the time
if you're struggling with the first day or two of really bad day, I recommend quick/fleet footed/parkour expert and a mil. surplus start—
if you're lucky you'll get some combination of the following:
food, first aid kits, MBR vests, helmets, kevlar vests
which makes it dramatically easier.
I've never really had problems just smashing windows during nighttime looting
quick+fleet footed+parkour+sprinting will let you juke almost anything through a house unless you goof somehow (except when screwed by tweaker)
any boiling tool+container+firesource essentially solves all thirst issues
survival+forests can solve food issues as long as you don't get moose/cougar/beared
>>148313252
Thanks. I'll keep this in mind although I don't like MRE's.
Only some of it is worthwhile for 3 volume but I find most of it to be useless. Water purification pills don't do shit which is sad because purifying water one unit at a time is tedious.
I never did go into cooking much though.
it's timeto do nothing because it's not fucking implemented yet
how are casters supposed to win pcb like how do you do zeus and serpent? do they just spam manastorm at everything and get fucked by breath attacks? that doesn't seem very fun at all

>that doesn't seem very fun at all
Welcome to PozChengband.
>>148313801

>>148313417
getting 2 cooking is very helpful because it allows you to make lots of high-efficiency foods like:
biscuits
deluxe eggs
meat/ fried rice
flour
deluxe beans and rice
most of the soups
lategame, cooking is chemistry and allows you to make a variety of helpful things
>>148314035
oh also fluid sac->dehydrated vegetable@2 means you can live entirely off of triffid butchering if you so desired
>>148313907
I can only imagine what mage classes that don't get manastorm, no at-range aggravation, and no charge draining have to bear later on. I think Armageddon or something gets shard breath which is amazing ESPECIALLY since J and a lot of other late monsters don't resist shards at all and is pretty much the only realm you should take if you're offered it (chaos is pretty decent though).
>>148313252
If you can craft a quarterstaff you can pretty much 1v1 bears and moose no problem.
Just lure them over a bush or something first.

>>148319934
technicians can grab your weapons from a distance, some factors mitigate it though (strength? skill levels? i'm not sure)

If my high school physics knowledge is right, electric fields generate magnetic fields of equal strength. >>148326491
>That should be illegal.
You should be illegal.
Is this the point when the Abyss becomes a good farming site for items?
>>148326491
Most people aren't gun fanatics that need 50 different reciever variant and specialty ammos. Or special 'always better than vanilla stuff' guns. I generally avoid all +guns mods in all games because they're almost always bloat or overpowered as fuck.
>>148326695

DCSS is a hell of a lot more grindy than, say, Brogue.

>>148326610
>>148326740
Alright. I personally like it, but it is annoying to take my pick between 6 different guns and 6 different ammo types which match none of the guns.
Do the generic ones even have gun mods though?
>>148326957
>Do the generic ones even have gun mods though?
sure.
>it is annoying to take my pick between 6 different guns and 6 different ammo types which match none of the guns.
you mean instead of 60 different guns and 6 different ammo types
you get more ammo with generic guns, that's why nikhezen released a generic guns mod with less ammo
what are you even on about
>>148326695
Yeah. It's fun, lucrative and you will probably die or have a near-death experience before getting bored.
>>148326957
Things generic guns currently lacks which people may want:
>some explosive weapons, mainly 40mm variants
>a couple mods like m203 and masterkey (stuff with "non-generic" names)
>super-powerful endgame guns
>>148327079
>near-death experience
I just had one with a single tormentor. Looks like farming it with rn1 isn't a good idea after all
What the fuck is this I found in a lab crate? Does not seem legit, I assume it's a trap of some sort which will fuck me over.
>>148327069
I meant with the +guns mods I never find the ammo I need when raiding gun basements etc. Just a bunch of new guns and new ammo types, none of which match.
How much %damage is redirected to MPs when having Spirit shield?

>>148327781

>>148327881
But if I am low on speed and a brute catches me with my pants down, it's an alternative to death?
>>148327953
Yes, but you'll probably stash it before that because
>3 volume
>1.4 kg
and then won't have it when you will need it.
>>148328056
I'm still in relative early game with a MOLLE and decent clothing so for now I got nothing more important to carry about anyway. Mite b cool.
>>148328056
>3vol and 1.4kg too much for a get out of jail with mild cancer card
>>148328727
there's a 1/1000 chance of getting fungal only if you use it ten times in a row.
I wouldn't even call that mild cancer. You could win the lottery with those odds if you got it just using it once.
>>148328949
Well telesickness can cause a lot of other things too.
I just said "mild cancer" since it's technically not free.
The danger level is about as high as miscasting a level 4 spell in DCSS or something.
Level 3 or 4 lab and I've yet to see a single mutagen. Do they have a specific part for that in the experimental build or something?
>>148328949
Actually it's 1/10000, but every single turn and with no duration restriction.
It's a bit below 3% chance per use.
since offline ghosts are the single most retarded feature of all time, how do I disable them?
>>148329606
What makes them more retarded than online ghosts?
>>148329756
well I havent actually played online yet, but I suppose they would be similarly shitty
>>148329606
Online ghosts are retarded too.
There's no option for disabling ghosts because DCSS is e-sports and thus such option-ization is verboten.
You can just delete the bones files in your saves folder. I can't remember where it is in local copies and iirc it's different between prebuilt and compiled, but it's probably somewhere near your morgue.

a- waste time and make a unriginal doom mod for endgame in a mod that otherwise does not state it has doom content inside.
b- waste time and make a original endgame content for the master... kevin stops it because reasons but your attempt and sacrifice will be remembered.
c- dont waste time with cdda
>>148331689
Okay, so I can confirm it's not installed but now I don't know.
Checked the wiki which said they spawn in chemistry workrooms of which I've seen one which didn't have one.
It did however have 50+ dormitories, goo shit and cleaning closets.
I'll probably have to restart anyway because the cold is literally killing me.
>>148331839
Yes, flame is the worst enchant
Also use quick blade only if it has elec or disto ench, ice is ok aswell, or its some sort of really good randard or if youre worshiping kiku, pain brand, thats just my opinion.. And especially if youre a stabber of some sort
Also antimagic is good aswell, but thats trog only anyway
>>148331981
ah, thanks. i'll keep the quick blade in mind if i ever find a scroll of branding and put the speed rapier at +8 for now. i have like 3 antimagic rapiers from trog so i'll go pick one of those up too
>>148332102
Antimagic is more of a late game brand, but its useful all around aswell
>>148331839
Yeah absolutely.
Speed is king.
>>148332181
ah, i'm at depths:3 now, it's only +5 but it seems like a good switch to have, and i'll keep the flame one just for blink. also i have 1,600 gold, there's a shop with 3 ?acquirement for 1872 or i could buy an iron rod, should i save for the acq?
>>148332338
Acq scrolls are the worst shit sometimes, i swear to god
You can use 100+ of them and get average stuff you can use for few floors until you get something better and rest of the time, when you have a shit run, you get some ultra super item but rest of your equipment is pure shit and you die to a random bullshit in lair or something
Anyway, it depends on what sort of other equipment you have, mostly armor
Also i guess youre worshiping trog, since you said he gave you some rapiers, so no armor gifts, so im guessing your equipment is sort of ok-ish
???
>>148332631
yeah i've got some decent shit, not sure what i'd even try to acq except maybe getting a lucky quick blade. already have haste/heal wounds wands too
>>148332690
It's like in DotA, when you TP back to base just as you take lethal damage, and your corpse just lands at home.
>>148332732
You dont have a necklace? And youre in depths? Geez.. Show me what you cleared so far
>>148332732
You should definitely be using the rapier of speed for most monsters and the antimagic rapier for any spellcasters.
Ditch that rapier of flame.
>>148332825
it's under the --more--, +5 reflection, only other ones i've found are magic regen/gourmand (useless as KoBe), and guardian spirit
>>148332939
but i can switch to it in one turn and then use it to blink, seems pretty invaluable as it's my only source of casting it
>>148333234
Sure, but don't hit anything with it.
Also, I would use Guardian Spirit over reflection.
>>148333234
Ok well, i would clear depths now in your place and then go to crypt, youre a KoBe so you can clear that very efficiant and you have antimagic rapier aswell, which is really good
Clear crypt because at the end you get lot of jewelry, usually
Also that guardian spirit necklace sounds real good, i wouldnt use 2 sources of reflection, im not really sure how that works together, and guardian spirit is real good, Ko has some nice mana pool for it
>>148333413
>>148333473
okay, i actually just found the reflection buckler recently, so i'll go grab the guardian spirit. would just one pip of rN be enough for crypt? and for my last question, what should i be training at this point?
>>148333792
Get 11 armour since that is 2 more AC for fairly cheap. Then just more fighting/dodging.
I wouldn't do crypt. Just go finish Depths, do V:$, and then win.
If you really feel like you need more gear I'd rather do elf than crypt.
>>148333792
Armour, then dodging and some more shields, not sure if you satisfied the no pentaly
And crypt with rN+ is tricky a bit.. Try clearing vaults:5 then, you have quicksilver and blink rapier and such + youre a trog worshipper, so its cool
>>148334064
>>148334373
fug thanks anyway guys
>>148334558
I was watching you.
You should have used digging to go into that wall and then dig at a diagonal to prevent the flayed ghost from getting LOS on you.
If you kill a flayed ghost you get all your HP back.
Also use 'zerk liberally with shortblades (especially speed) and press _ to check your messages when you see (Hit _) in the top right.

Make what happen? That's just my undead attacking like normal. This character is entirely based around Necromancy. In fact the only reason he uses magic device at all is because duplicane trains Alchemy.
Necroforce is mostly useful for moving the undead around. Since Barrier is such an important part of the build I don't get much use out of Undead Empower, and since I have so many, and they're so powerful, Undead Restore actually puts me at about -3000 health every time I use it (though it doesn't kill me). Undead Bomb definitely has its place now that I have enough coffins to fully replace the ones that die, but it's still extremely risky.
Reasonable amount of damage.

sword, dagger, bow, wand, single damaging spell
robe, plate armor, leather armor, no aux armor
consumables will be identified and their variety reduced to fixed amount of tp, blink, enchant and recharge

>get sent to the abyss at level 6
Some runs are just not meant to be.
>>148355086
that would be far easier to do because you could make the maps far more compact and after finishing you'd just leave (y/n) and get dropped in the next area with village and surrounding countryside you could explore
thats FAR easier to do than a huge wilderness overmap and im fairly confident i could do that but i favour the latter approach
still its an idea I guess I could actually deliver in a couple months

>Hello, crawl players! New trunk changes are afoot. Pray we do not change it further. Here are the changes we've made to our deal:
>Sif Muna:
>Channel Energy is gone. Replacing it at 1* is Divine Energy, a toggleable ability that lets the player cast spells without having enough mp. Using this effect causes a -Cast status for several turns, depending on how many MP the player was short by.
>New 3* ability: Channel Magic, a Trog’s Hand-like invocation that trades piety for a brief, but significant, MP regeneration boost.
>Book gifts now appear starting from 5*, not 6*.
>Sif now gives partial piety for kills, in addition to (slightly reduced) piety from skill training.
>Players wielding long blades can now ‘riposte’. After dodging a melee attack, users have a 50% chance to launch a free counterattack. This does not trigger retaliation effects, such as porcupine spines or hydra head growth, but functions as a normal attack otherwise. Long blade base damage has been lowered to compensate.
>The Fencer’s Gloves no longer give bonuses to Sbl & Lbl skill; instead, they let the user riposte with any weapon. This stacks with long blades’ innate riposte.
>Various unrands have had their stats tweaked; the most notable change is to Eos, which trades its sInv -Tele for Brilliance’s halo. (Wyrmbane also trades +Rage for rC+.)
>Removed unrands: Sword of the Doom Knight, Amulet of Cekugob, and Brilliance (except for the bits Eos took).
>The last mountain dwarf has finally been removed; please, pour one out for our dear, departed Wiglaf. Donald got his Haste and Might, and Joseph stole his hat.
>Urug and Maud have merged into one very smelly, well-armed unique.
>Nergalle can no longer enter Death’s Door.
>Spells
>New spell: Cinco's Re-annihilation (Level 4 necromancy/hex), found in the book of death. Targets everything within the players line of sight; everything takes heavy rot and gives off miasma. Great job!

>>148361112
The disparity in power level between the standarts bugs me, and I dislike how finding a good one basically invalidates most of the difficulty in a standard 3 rune. A character that finds the mask of the dragon or dyprovepreva gets a decent buff, but a character who finds bear spirit or alchemist stands a much greater chance of winning the game, 15 runes included. I feel like they should do something unique or provide utility without pushing a character way over the top. A lot of the lesser artifacts are balanced decently in this regard, with some amount of drawbacks for unique abilities.

Wyrmbane is not that good dude. It's good, sure.
A +9 demon trident of elec does more damage than wyrmbane against a stone giant. Wyrmbane has +5 AC and rF which is great but it's not OP or anything.
>>148361745
Hat of the alchemist is not that good now that it's -2. It varies between "pretty good" and "ok".
>>148362570
Alchemist is situationally excellent, for example on a character with no other resists than an FDA and a ring of resist cold it would be awesome.
Most characters find at least one or two of the single pip resists somewhere and at least 2 of the multi-pip resists in good slots.
For a lot of characters you are just wasting half of the alchemists slots and passing up potential 5 or more AC (which applies to more incoming damage than Alchemist resists).
Bear Spirit is way, way better since it actually gives you reduced damage taken from everything.
>>148363207
Alchemist is good because you don't have to remember to ring swap ever again. This is far more likely to save you than 4 ac, especially since you can wear protection or evasion in your now freed up ring slots.
>>148363840
>This is far more likely to save you than 4 ac, especially since you can wear protection or evasion in your now freed up ring slots.
This. Now you can just leave on that ring of robustness and shaolin.
>>148363207
Alchemist removes literally ALL oppurtunity costs for any slot you have. Have a +5 slaying ring but you're stuck wearing rF and MR+? Now you wear slaying and another good ring, or even just double down on the resist. Wear literally any body armour you wish, because all bases are covered. Cloak of invis over rPois and so on. Additionally, AC doesn't scale as well into the endgame as resists. Once you have "enough" AC, more doesn't help as much as additional EV or offensive abilities. And this is just flat out ignoring that there aren't ANY base ego helmets/hats that you'd wear over alchemist except the incredibly rare spirit hat. And how good rMut is even though you don't need it.
>>148364814
There definitely need to be more standard egos for some slots.
Hat and boots are really in need, since what do they have? Running, stealth, intelligence, mr, and sinv?
Obviously running and MR+ are good, but I think both slots could use a couple more options.
rElec boots was an idea I had.
Clarity could work on a helm too.
>>148363207
>Bear Spirit is way, way better since it actually gives you reduced damage taken from everything.
If you have a lot of mp you usually need it for casting and don't want guardian spirit taking away any of it. If you have virtually no mp, you don't need it anyway and guardian spirit hardly does anything for you. It's mainly useful for low hp races as instant death resistance
>>148364814
>Once you have "enough" AC, more doesn't help as much as additional EV or offensive abilities
This isn't true. Each point of AC is 0.5 damage reduction on average. In fact each additional point of AC is stronger than the last one because it is a bigger % reduction of the damage you're taking.
>>148365108
>Rubber Boots of Insulation (rElec)

I'm fairly sure they existed at one point. Boots of Grounding or something.
>>148365310
>If you have a lot of mp you usually need it for casting
Bad assumption. Most characters train a fair bit of Invo or Evo and most use a couple spells, but not enough to significantly drain MP. With some invo/evo/spc investment, you have enough to get ~30 MP towards the end of the game and have >20 for much of it.
>>148365310
you can also get MP by training invo or evo
training evo is good for any character, and most evocables don't actually use that mana so you can spirit shield without worry

>>148365441
I don't like the glove ego idea as much myself. Gloves could do with more interesting combat-related abilities, probably.
>>148365484
Yeah boots of grounding was the idea I had.
>>148365332
I thought AC worked as flat reduction and not as a percent of anything, compared to resists which are percentages (except rPois which does nothing to incoming poison damage).
>>148365332
First pip is a flat 50% damage reduction and second is another 17%. You'd be really hard pressed to get enough AC to outperform your resists. Not to mention what it costs to improve your AC vs. just getting more HP or EV.
>>148365484
GDR doesn't really do much after lair and it bums me out .
>>148365484
>I'm fairly sure they existed at one point. Boots of Grounding or something.
Don't think so. There used to be jumping boots that they removed.
>>148365808
Yeah and the first pip in rC+ and rF+ are easily acquirable without using ring or hat slot.
>>148365914
Both at the same time? Maybe if you're using a shield or you get lucky with aux armor from a volcano or ice cave.
>>148366078
It's equally as likely as this situation of having two excellent AC/EV/Slaying rings to use over your rC+ ring.

>>148366784
It's not a bad item.
It's just massively overrated.
And this scenario of "two +5 rings of EV/AC/Str/Dex/Slay" is just as likely as having all your important resists well covered and a +2 helmet when you find Alchemist.

>>148365673
AC is flat reduction, but each additional point of AC reduces a bigger percent of the damage you're taking. Example:
Taking 10 damage, 2 AC reduces damage by 1, take 9 damage. That's 10% less damage taken by having 2 AC.
Now equip an item with +2 AC for a total of 4 AC.
Taking 10 damage, 4 AC reduces damage by 2, take 8 damage. The 2 extra points of AC reduced damage from 9 to 8. That's 11% less damage taken. The 2 extra points of AC were slightly more effective at reducing the percent of damage taken.
So, the more AC you stack, the more effective it becomes. It's obviously not a secret OP strat or anything, but it's actually good to equip more AC when you have a lot because it will be very effective. Of course something else like rF might be better.

If so, could this make a pure-melee dude able to clear ziggurats with ease? I mean, everything surrounding you gets raped if it dares to attack in melee, and this makes having both good magic AND good melee very powerful.

It wouldn't exactly block those attacks, but it would put enemies out of LOS so they couldn't use them.
>>148375858
>>148376440
CBOE is pretty good as long as you aggressively use it after losing 20%~ of your MP and don't mind having 20+ evocations. Obviously don't be an undead though.
>>148376867
Even with 25 Evocations the minimum fail rate is like 10%.
>>148377035
85-87% success rate for free 16~ average MP is insane. Using it with high MP will allow you a little leeway when it inevitably drains your MP. Just have curing around and know when you don't need to channel. Its a huge boon if you're shattering tomb to death or something equally MP intensive.
>>148376295
>>148376787
Very nice, so all those attacks (hellfire, torment and smiting) can't be used if i'm surrounded by fog? (unless they are inside the fog too of course)
>>148378394
yes
>>148378394
Smite-targeting requires LOS.
Actually, I don't think enemies can attack you at all when they're out of your LOS. They can move around, but won't use ranged attacks unless you can see them first. People'll have to check me on that.
Is shatter really that scary? Both with Jorgrun and panlords i never took much damage from it, so i assumed it was more for the player than anything
>>148378880
if you're petrified, yes
>>148378745
LoS is mutual.
>>148378880
If you have a lot of AC and/or are flying it's significantly less dangerous.
I had a fast (at least sp speed, maybe a little faster) shatter panlord show up on the orb run as a Sp. Shit was terrifying. I only lived because there were two turns it decided not to cast.
>>148378996
squarelos pls go
that asymmetry in knights-move positioning around corners in Angband being a major thing to know and use (and not fall prey to when vs monsters) is pretty stupid
why is that still in the game I mean really
but it's very important and helpful to know, in all sorts of situations.
>>148378745
Only digging and walls to elementals can be cast by monsters outside of LOS.
>>148378394
The only way monsters can hurt you from out of LOS is summons/clouds/OODs that they created *before* leaving LOS.
>>148380689
>>148378996
>>148378745
>>148378462
Thanks for the answers dudes, i tried it out in wix mode as well, and i guess you are right, i CAN see enemies outside the fog, but i guess it's still considered out of LOS if i'm inside my 3x3 square of fog and they aren't, right?
>>148381229
No. They have to be out of sight. Go deeper.
Is there a cap on how much Regen+s you can have?
>>148380689
Monster casts fireball (or OOD) on an ally adjacent to you.
>>148382135
No. Each + is 0.4 hp/turn, Each level of mutation is 0.2 hp/turn. The spell is 1 hp/turn.
>>148382219
I don't think that happens unless they are permanent allies.
Do auxilary attacks proc more often with Gyre and Gimble, since your auts take 0,3?
>tfw your tornado is bigger
>>148382729
Why would it not happen?
>>148385235
I was under the impression that it wouldn't. My bad.
Is a MuSu of Sif Muna still viable in Trunk?
choices must be made
>>148386791
It's very hard to make it happen. I'm not sure exactly how it works because for example in this situation the monster never casts spells, only tries to move.
.a.
m#@
.a.
a is ally, m is monster.
Maybe the monster needs to be distracted when you leave its LOS. Or maybe the monster needs to not be adjacent to the ally.
>>148387672
Eos, especially with the latest change, is an incredibly good weapon if you're rolling shields. I hope you didn't invest much in polearms
>>148387925
i havent invested in a weapon skill besides fighting at all yet
>>148388197
I now understand why it took you 1500 tries to win
Get some fucking M&F holy shit
>>148387672
>>148388197
Eos is huge.
With a halo it's basically like having a +20 to hit or something ridiculous.
>>148388197
argh
never mind
caught two naga poison spits in one turn after finding snake on lair two by accident with no cure pots
13017 Ketziah the Protected (level 11, -1/86 HPs)
Began as a Demonspawn Wanderer on July 14, 2016.
Was an Elder of Makhleb.
Killed from afar by Erica (20 damage)
... with a bolt of poison
... on level 2 of the Lair of Beasts
and that was with the nagas spitting at me. instant lethal poison
>>148388796
nobody cares
>>148388796
>going into lair without rPois, rElec, rF+++, rC++, MR+++++, and lichform
>>148389605
Don't forget 46/31/30 defenses and max power shatter.
>>148389605
it was that or d:12
didnt really think there would be a massive danger like that but so it goes
NEXT
>>148388197
>i havent invested in a weapon skill
Jesus christ what are you doing?
Fighting is for increasing health, the damage and accuracy bonuses are negligible unless you have high weapons skill as well. You always raise your primary means of dealing damage first. Sure high defenses help you live but killing dudes before they kill you helps you live much more.
>>148390463
He's a fucking shitter that constantly wants to flaunt out his name since he wants to become /rlg/'s next biggest cancer circlejerk meme. I think it took him around 2000 games to finally win Crawl which is objectively the easiest roguelike to win. He always pops back in here to remind us of his dreadful existence because he's just another unfunny, forgettable, namefag loser like every other crawlbabby that posts here.
>inb4 "him" or whatever
I really couldn't care less you fucking faggot.
>>148391195
3000 games. almost 3 years to the day,
it's fucking mortifying.
>>148391430
Christ, fucking loser needs to get a life.
>>148391430
nah its like 1470 i think
These Q-thingies seem kind of hard.
>>148392378
>letting yourself get within melee range of a monster
You're supposed to hide behind walls of flesh and phase door/teleport as soon as anything gets close.
>>148392378
try playing a vampire
>>148392452
With -8 speed and 17-27% fail rates, it's harder than it sounds. Maybe hasty personality was a bad pick, I'm not sure if it raises your spell failures or what.
A snake ate my yeeks and evolved from a brown one into a yellow one, I don't think that's how evolution works.
>>148392549
I'll try it after Q number three dies.
>>148393040
one of the strengths of Qs is that summon strength is hugely dependent on dungeon depth, so you can actually do some Very Silly Diving Shenanigans
>>148393040
Rattlesnakes evolve into king cobras which evolve into black mambas.
Panthers evolve into tigers.
Rust monsters evolve into disenchanters, which evolve into unicorns, which evolve into kirin.
Flying monkeys into Owlbears.
Yetis into sasquatches (kek).
Don't think too hard about PCB evolution.
>>148393794
>Flying monkeys into Owlbears
Hwat?
>>148394129
Carnivorous flying monkeys evolve into owlbears.
i used to not kill the pitiful beggars until I realized they were really just baby grand master thieves
>>148394461
Can owlbears fly?
>>148365825
>There used to be jumping boots that they removed.
That's because they removed jumping entirely, and egos that don't do anything are hardly egos at all.
>>148386974
channelspam is no longer infinite free mana so musu probably isn't as good
mu of other classes is probably better though because nofood means you can kite everything forever while using divine energy to cast spells
>>148394692
Yep, because one square gaps of deep water should be completely uncrossable unless you're aquatic or flying.
>>148391195
>objectively the easiest

pay summoner -> maybe follow skill guide -> mash keyboard
>>148386974

!!! BEWARE THE BALANCE CRIME !!!
>>148392549
What I've seen so far:
>you have an ac penalty for being in lit rooms, unlike ninja you don't start with a darkness spell
>sometimes when you enter a lit room you get spooked and lose some chr (your casting stat)
>you can turn into a bat, which is +7 speed, does as much damage as the +0 dagger you start with and lets you travel on the surface during the daytime at the cost of having only five slots
>>148395153
that light shit ends when you get some rLite
You can't tell me what to do.
>>148375383
As >>148376307 said, yes. To expound on what he said though: you roll 1d[UC+(2*Claws-mut rank)] every time you hit in combat without the Gauntlets of War. With the Gauntlets, you roll 1d(UC)+(Slaying). Even discounting the accuracy boost, the Gauntlets will be better on average than even a Troll's claws.
>>148395153
>sometimes when you enter a lit room you get spooked and lose some chr (your casting stat)
>>148395153
Oh, and the bat has better shopping modifiers than vampire form, because there's nothing at all suspicious about a bat fluttering up to a shop and trying to buy some health potions.
>>148395514
>shopping modifiers
How are the dragon ones? I could only imagine a shopkeeper's reaction to a massive wyrm wading into town to buy some scrolls.
>>148395672
Not the worst, but not that good.
Spiders, on the other hand, are surprisingly charming. As are floating swords.
>>148395313
kek
>>148395514
>5 billion hours in paint
>>148395514
Shopping bats is hardly the weirdest thing in PCB.
>>148395338
however that damage from claws rank is added to base damage, so it is still multiplied by 1+str/39 and by 1+1d(fightan)/30
unless you're a cheibro with very high fighting the +5 slay is worth more tho
>>148395153
i think eventually you get a "vampiric mist" form that gives you no melee attack but halves (?) all incoming damage
most of the vampire winners posted on the ladder did mistform golfbag shit to kill big J
>>148396587
Why even play a vampire then? Just do a devicemaster or something.
>>148396587
I don't see any vampire winners (at least, not the monster one) on the ladder. One died to the serpent but was presumably beating on it with his 827 against evil melee damage.
sometimes things happen
>>148308105
I still can't get even 1 rune in DCSS as a Vampire Assasin. I clear out to D15, Orc mines, and Lair but when I enter a branch I die.
>tfw bored of the game but can't stop playing because I want to win
>>148400491
first of all play enchanter not assassin if you want to stealth
second of all you have to transition to something other than pure hexes/stealth eventually, probably with a fightmans god
>>148400887
>you have to transition to something other than pure hexes/stealth eventually
Smells like bloat. Removal when?
>>148400887
I don't use hexes or any form of magic, I worship Mahkleb and use summons/pain. I don't really too much on stealth, I train for fighting with long blades and use throwing as well.
I don't want to switch classes or race, it's my goal to beat it as a vampire assasin.
>>148401593
Why assassin if you're using long blades?
