Did anyone know that the lever guard on Layer 2 Lower Pthumuru drops 19% Physical gems?
Not sure if it's coincidence but he's only dropping them if I let him heal with a DeS-style grass eating animation, but I'm 3 for 3 now letting him heal has given me a Cursed Gem each time and the 3 times I didn't let him heal have given me no gem. I had 100 discovery as well, so nothing fancy.
You could easily get here whenever you liked, since Depth 1-2 Chalice's are easy as hell and Layer 1 is just the Watchers, and you can farm Mensis level gems. Definetly make low level DLC much more bareable.

The DaS2 Artorias sword mentions that its wielders were all left handed, and you got special moves if you equipped it in your l-hand. And maybe the DaS boxart depicts Artorias entering the abyss, with his sword in his left hand, since the shield looks like his greatshield, so he fought you with his off-hand.

Nice idea. I reached the third layer and I think I'm in front of a boss room. Got 8 vials and no bullets. Should I proceed? I'm level 27 with 19 vit and I'm using the saw spear +3 with a hunter's pistol +3 and the gems I have for my main weapon are phys at up +7,5% and blunt atk up +10% ; add phys at +5.4 Somehow I have another Phtumeru chalice now and a Phtumeru root chalice as well.The gem they dropped gives me a phys at up +13.5% btw.

You get so many crazy weapons that you really want to test them out.

Blunt ATK will do nothing for the Saw Spear.
Gems that give a flat number increase arnt as good as they might seem, since that flat bonus is applied as a set number added onto each attack, so for example when you do a charged R2 that does 2x the listed damage of a weapon the flat bonus will stay the same wheras % increase gems boost the weapons damage, which then gets all further modifiers placed on top of it.
Having two 13.5% Physical gems is the best you can have at the moment. Although Depth 2 Chalice's will offer even better ones.

Legit depressing. Probably my favorite weapon in the game but I can only do NG+ stuff with it. It's not like NG+ is overly hard or anything, but I wish there was an option to at least try NG with it.

Chalice Dungeons. You pretty much have to play through NG to get to Lower Loran where it is, but that's the Uncanny BB which is the one you'll eventually want.

Btw i find it much easier to fight the winter lanterns with low frenzy-RES.
Just parry and visceral them before the bar is full and they'll do shit all.
The timing is tricky but its the best way to get rid of or farm them.

Get shark 1 to mid health and then shaman bone blade one of them, let them fight. If you're fighting them, try and bait the long lunge attack, it's easy enough to parry.

It's become one of my roitines for every new char i make. They drop 19.8% phys offshapes too, as seen at the end.
O/c you can do the same thing in the Hamlet for 22% phys.
Great for twinks as you don't have to bare the CD at that lvl.
