I always see this. People like to draw the posterboy, but they swap the shotty for the pistol. Why do this, and not just swap both weapons while you're at it?

Also, Henryk uses the saw spear, not the cleaver IIRC

2nd one is a little better, ends right before the dogs get possessed, Farnese is a barbie doll though.

I think I figured out why the cgi is so terrible, it's the thin lines, in drawing it's important to vary the thickness of your lines and and break them up every now and then, to keep the image looking attractive and that's lost with cgi models.

The cgi is terrible because it's so stiff. It's like watching in-engine cutscenes of a really bad PS2 game, there's zero fluidity, and everything's limp. I don't really mind some of the actual art, it could be better, sure, but good lord the actual animation is hilariously bad. That's what you get for letting moeshit studios animate Berserk. PS2 era Ludwig should be fun to watch, though.

Yharnam Hunter Trousers vs Tomb Prospector Trousers vs Yhar-har ghul Black trousers. I can't decide help
>>
>>148075396
Level STR first, do not pay very much attention to Bloodtinge in the early game. You can summon Valtr for Ludwig (or, if you have PS+, you can summon people from here and get away with being pretty weak). If you want to use the Gatling Gun you need to level Skill up to 12, which will let you wield the Whirlgig and make everything a lot easier. You will not be able to get the Bloodletter without being insanely good or having to grind through the majority of the game first, but it's doable. I actually found Maria much, much harder because my viscerals were so weak against her, and in her final form she had combos that would full health me.

Remember that Yharnamites regularly consume blood, more than booze and sex, and are full of the stuff. They receive it for medical treatment Yharnamites are prone to beasthood, and are conscripted by the church on nights of the hunt. That's what the Yharnam Hunter set is, the uniform of people conscripted as hunters.

As for the dream, countless hunters have passed through there, how do you know every poor Yharnamite shitter hasn't been there at least once? And the Hunter's Nightmare has a river made of the remains of hunters.

Anyone can be a hunter.

>>148078990
>how do you know every poor Yharnamite shitter hasn't been there at least once?
First, because they leave ragdolls behind upon death, instead of disappearing into mist like dreaming Hunters do (even blood-drunk Hunters who are on their way to the Nightmare)

Second, Ludwig's whole gimmick was him recruiting non-dreaming Yharnam normies to join in the Hunt, because apparently there weren't enough Dreaming Hunters to go around.

And the Yharnam Hunter Set explicitly states that non-dreaming Hunters are mere pretenders who get brutally fucked by the beasts by virtue of not having superhuman strength, agility, or rally powers
>>
>>148079252
Not the guy you're responding to but why do you have to dream to be a hunter? Gehrman was a hunter before the dream existed and he did just fine
>>
>>148078990
And Ludwig is the source of all this dead/failed hunters. The spring of the river.

So, thanks to Ludwig everyone can be a hunter ... by name only and as long as an OP beast cuts them to ribbons.

True hunters have talent and restrain.
>>
>>148079573
well, wasnt he the first hunter to dream? Id imagine he 'created' it in a way.

tip: I have no idea what im talking about.
>>
>>148079573
there's a distinction between Dreaming and non-Dreaming Hunters.

Dreaming Hunters are Hunters as we know them.

non-Dreaming Hunters are "Hunters" in the sense that they actually don't have any chance of doing anything productive, and will either die immediately or go blood-drunk, and/or transform in to a beast themselves.

Gehrman and his crew started Dreaming in the first place to boost their own powerlevels, because there's only so much you can do as a normal man. Especially when Byrgenwerth was sending Hunters into the Labyrinth to spelunk, and they had to fight the legitimately superhuman entities therein

>>
>>148079573
You can technically be a Hunter without dreaming, the dream just gives you infinite retries at any given scenario and essentially makes you an unkillable godlike being who can destroy anything based on pure trial and error

As seen with the NPC hunters who don't dream, you CAN survive without but one death and you're done.

NPC Hunters vanish on death.

And other people have said it, there's dreaming and non-dreaming hunters. But all those gravestones in the dream mean there's been a lot of dreaming hunters, many of whom were Yharnamites by virtue of proximity.
>>
>>148080290
Laurence, Gehrman and co. beckoned the MP with an umbilical cord way back when they were all still in Byrgenwerth, and asked it to create the Hunter's Dream for them and give the Hunters powers. In exchange, Gehrman was trapped in the Dream forever as it's host.
>>
>>148080342
>because it's just a dream, none of it is real
>he thinks it's actually a dream

I have bad news for you, anon, it's all real. Dream and Nightmare aren't literal terms. The Nightmare is an alien dimension inhabited and presided over by the Great Ones. They are also references to the Dreamlands stories of H.P. Lovecraft, where the Dreamlands were simply another realm humans could access via dreaming, but other creatures like Ghouls could access by going underground.

And you can get vermin from waking world enemies without the rune.

Whirlgig is both broken and pretty boring. Nothing interesting about it unless you enjoy holding L2 and watching people have seizures.

BOM's transform soothes my autism but it isn't that fun as a weapon, feels a lot like mashing R1 all the time

Both beast claw forms are overrated, using Vanquishers Seal in DaS2 and roll cancelling aroumd with impunity was more fun.

Parasite is just straight up boring. Its attacks are very unsatisfying, it's best used dash R1inhg around, it's fairly weak, and its attacks are pretty samey other than the vomit and the explosion.

No.

the Hunter's Dream was a conception of the Moon Presence

Blood-addling and the Hunter's Nightmare is a conception of the Orphan of Kos
>>

Tricked will always do more but it devours stamina so ultimately Untricked WILL do more with a single stamina bar anyway
>>
>Gehrman (forced by MP) uses hunters to complete tasks
>eventually kills them and releases them so they no longer dream (Djura, Eileen, you)

Did each of them dream during a different hunt and were needed to make sure the people of Yharnam made it through the night? I never really got the point of what the others were doing. Evidently the Good Hunter put an end to things by offing MP but what about all the others before?

all of the Hunters are in a contract to find and kill Mergo.

People like Eileen and Djura had irrecovably turned away from the path that would lead them to Mergo (by hiding out in Old Yharnam, by dedicating themselves to killing other Hunters, etc.) and so they were "fired" by the MP

>>148081671
No, just Mergo. Any other dead Great Ones are just collateral damage to the goal of killing Mergo. The MP considers your Hunter's contract fulfilled even when

Of what? All I can guess based on MP's embrace of you is that it wants Mergo and those two are in the way but it never seems to get Mergo in the end and your contract is fulfilled anyway.
>>
Every other time you kill a Great One, you get a Nightmare Slain message, except with the Amygdalas.

Is this because all of the Amygdalas form a communal entity so you aren't really slaying a Great One, or is it because every other Great One is the source of a certain part of the Dream (Mergo with the nightmare of Mensis, Orphan with the Hunter's Nightmare, MP with the Hunter's Dream)?

>>
>>148082158
MP wanted Mergo dead. In the end, you killed Mergo, so your contract is fulfilled. It embraces you in those two endings because you just killed Gehrman, the host of the Hunter's Dream. MP is using Hunters for it's own purposes, so it wants the Hunter's Dream to stay, so it makes you into the next host.
>>
>>148081141
Maria went there, and she was sane to the point of dedicating eternity to guarding the hamlet in the nightmare and throwing away her weapon irl with disgust at her actions. She wasn't blood-drunk.

>>148081845
I doubt that every hunter was employed to kill Mergo. Mergo is a BABY great one, and judging by the sheer mass of gravestones in the dream, there's been hundreds, if not thousands of hunters.

I assume MP has had several targets in the past, they're just irrelevant. He wants Mergo dead specifically this time but that doesn't mean he doesn't ALSO want say, Amygdala dead. If a real life hitman went out and killed his employer's enemy who WASN'T the contract, I'm sure he'd be grateful, but the job still isn't done.

>>148077079
Amy Arm is generally a thousand times better. Beast Cutter is too slow.
>>
>>148082298
I don't think the "hunt" is an actual event. It's more like a personal downward spiral into madness and understanding.

Like "hunting the dragon" for doing Opium.

The good hunter is not a sane person and everything he/she sees could be different in reality.
>>
>>148082467
>we never even encounter Mergo
anon pls, who do you think was in that stroller that the Wet Nurse was guarding? Hint: the Wet Nurse's lamp is called Mergo's Lunarium.

>Great Ones seem to want children, don't know why the MP would want this one dead
perhaps for the same reason why Yharnam (who is it's mother) is grateful to you for killing Mergo, as well -- you've ended a torturous existence in the Nightmare
>>
>>148082265
All good. Str/Blt can also be done with 28 str but unless you can see yourself getting good use out of Church Cannon/Gatting Gun, then don't bother. Its not bad by any means but you want make the most of the stats since 28 isn't the smallest investment.
>>
>>148082537
>implying that Maria wasn't the Host of the Hunter's Nightmare, like Gehrman was the host of the Hunter's Dream
even if this weren't true, sane Hunters can voluntarily enter the Nightmare (see: you and Simon), but only the blood-drunk are actually imprisoned there

>>148082671
the Hunt definitively is a thing, the Chapel Dweller and the Hunter Chief Emblem mention it, and the Hunt ends when the night ends. Hunters just get called out whenever the Beasts become too numerous, spend the night clearing them out, and go about their business the next day.
>>
>>148082679
Yeah man, makes sense that the Wet Nurse is guarding the child. I'm just saying that it's never seen at all, nor is its death. Seemed like the Queen was thankful to you for killing the Wet Nurse because now Mergo could be freed, not killed. I find it hard to believe that she'd be happy that you killed her child.
>>
>>148082930
>I'm just saying that it's never seen at all, nor is its death
well, since Mergo is most likely the child of Oedon (considering his mother's prowess with blood magic), being formless shouldn't be that much of a surprise.

also note that you only see NIGHTMARE SLAIN when Mergo's crying stops, not when the Wet Nurse falls over dead.

Also consider that the only way to be free of the Nightmare is via murder, as seen by you in the "Yharnam Sunrise" ending, and by the Orphan of Kos -- and both times, it's portrayed as an overall good thing, like ripping off a band-aid

>>
>>148083615
>MP is never mentioned as the source of the scourge

First off, there are THREE (3) lore notes that explicitly draw a connection between the MP and the Scourge

>when the Red Moon hangs low, the line between man and beast is blurred
>the Mensis ritual must be stopped, lest we all become beasts
>to escape this dreadful Hunter's Dream, halt the source of the spreading scourge of beasts, lest the Night carry on forever

The first lore note draws a clear connection between the MP (aka the Red Moon, as distinct from the Orphan, who is a yellow/shredded moon) and the Scourge

The second say that the Mensis Ritual will transform people into beasts (again, because they're summoning the MP), and the third tells you that you escape the Hunter's Dream by stopping the MPs descent by halting the Mensis Ritual (again, a connection). Saying that there's no in-game evidence to support this is flat out wrong.

Secondly, we know from the CDs that the Curse of Beasts was originally laid down upon the Pthumerians as a punishment for having bastard children without the consent of a Great One. The only Great One in the game that has any kind of Authority in this area is the MP -- it has the power to decide when all of the other Great Ones can reproduce. Therefore, the MP is the most logical Great One to get butthurt about this. Again, which corroborates the fact that the Scourge goes absolutely nuts whenever the MP draws close.

The Scourge is transmitted via the Blood in the first place because it's carried via Vermin
>inb4 Vermin aren't real
>inb4 Vermin aren't the roots of man's impurity despite this being explicitly stated in their description
>>
>>148083227
Fair enough, that makes sense. Maybe Great Ones want their own children but want to make sure others don't get to have one?
>>
>>148083698

>>148083830
>Use to gain Insight and, so they say, eyes on the inside, although no one remembers what that truly entails -- One Third of Umbilical Cord
>although on one remembers what that truly entails
>although no one remembers
it's right there, people have forgotten how to use the damn things. Furthermore, the JP description of the cord you get off of Mergo says that the Cord ISN'T Mergo's umbilical cord, it was some random Cord that the Mensis had lying around. Instead of eating it, they poked around at it in experiments and accidentally summoned Mergo.

>>148084310
If Iosefka had used a cord on herself for eyes, it would have been consumed and therefore not usable by the player. That shit was planted in her by a Great One
>>
>>148084153
>it has the power to decide when all of the other Great Ones can reproduce

Where can we draw this conclusion from?
>>
>>148084467
Maybe because the big slimy cunt sends a death squad after you and your kid if you do?
>>
>>148084310

>>
>>148084467
>when the Red Moon hangs low, the line between man and beast is blurred. And when the Great Ones descend, a womb will be blessed with a child

the other Great Ones only descend AFTER the MP does. This is corroborated by the fact that bitches don't get knocked up in-game until AFTER the Red Moon drops
>>
>>148084153
I think you're stretching a bit. We know people turn to beasts because of the old, bad Great One blood found below the city. That doesn't necessarily mean that MP is controlling that, it may just be the presence of MP is intensifying the transformations into more horrifying and numerous beasts. Beckoning the MP can cause more and more people to turn but not because it's making it happen, it's just the effect it has on people who have been exposed to the blood.
>>
>>148084623
If every Great One loses a child and yearns for a surrogate then it might just be simple jealousy making them try and kill one another's children. There doesn't seem to be anything that suggests other Great Ones don't try and kill their compatriots' children.

>>148084712
Being a harbinger doesn't necessarily make you a leader.
>>
>>148084763
and why aren't you questioning why the MP and only the MP has this weird effect whereby it's presence sends the scourge into overdrive? why aren't you questioning why the two have such a close relationship, among all of the cosmic entities in the game? why isn't that registering "this might be evidence of a causal relationship" signals in your head?

>>
>>148085000
Nothing suggests they do either. We meet almost every single Great One during the game and they're all just chilling doing their own thing besides One Reborn (who is created by Micolash and company from random kidnapped victim's body parts in order to take over the world) and MP himself.

Speaking of One Reborn, did Micolash only pull off the initial ritual stuff recently? Because the kidnappers were active until the middle of the night, and they're explicitly carrying out his will to kidnap people to pull off the ritual to begin with. Can he communicate with people outside of the nightmare to organize something like that, or did he himself only enter it that night?
>>
>>148085000
>Being a harbinger doesn't necessarily make you a leader.
it's certainly plausible, considering that there are Great Ones like Oedon who are literally omnipresent, and could do whatever they wanted at any time if there wasn't someone holding them back. If the Blood Moon wasn't a stop/go signal, why wait? You exist only in voice and are inhabiting these women's bodies in every second of every day
>>
>>148085416
the One Reborn is not a Great One, that was a failed experiment

>did Micolash only pull off the initial ritual stuff recently
it's implied that the Ritual has been in preparation for a long-ass time, since the Yahargul set mentions that kidnappers have been around for a while. What you see in-game was probably the equivalent of last-minute prep

>did he himself only enter it that night
he entered the Nightmare a long ass time ago, and so did the dozens of people who went with him. Try and count how many mummified cage heads are around Yahargul, along with Micolash

A whole variety of factors, one being the fact that you could be thwarted by rampaging hunters. If you're omnipresent, why not wait for a better opportunity? There's no time limit. Especially if you exist only in voice and are inhabiting these women's bodies in every second of every day

>It's the only one we know of that has this effect. That doesn't make it authoritative in any way

In a game full of holes and unexplained situations.

Looking at the evidence, you simply do not have enough to prove what you're stating. It seems to be on way but, once again, no hard evidence. That leaves a lot of possibilities and it's not even counting the fact that the nature of the being you're talking about are virtually unknowable by human minds.

How do I dodge the charge attack Ebrietas does? It hits me no matter what direction I dodge and it take ~66% of my health. If she didn't have that attack, this fight would be a cakewalk.

Too great, thanks.

Feel free to dump.

Depends on your character RP, if you do that. I'm about to make an ex-noble chick that will be clean and scarless, but an experienced and traveled hunter will definitely have some scars

Why did the executioners slaughter the Vilebloods when the Chikage and the Reiterpallasch were both better weapons than the Logarius Wheel?

Dash the the side as late as possible

It will probably hit you about half of the time no matter what. It cannot be dodged at certain ranges. Ebrietas is honestly a pretty shitty boss fight.

You can say that again.

Can you perform a visceral on her? Sometimes she'll drop her head after I do a decent chunk of DPS but it won't do the visceral on her. Is it just not a thing with her?

I think you can visceral her, but viscerals are generally not completely consistent in BB.

Alright keep posting your waifu.

Bosses like Ebby and One Reborn take much more damage on the head/human body than anywhere else so exposing their weak spot is what you get in lieu of a visceral

Keep in mind that when I say dash to the side, pick a side to strafe first and then dash in the same direction at the last moment

Anyone want to hop in and give me hand? The NPC is garbage.

This is Isz by the way. I've never had trouble with her in the normal game.
