It depends on who you ask in the Institute. X6 absolutely hates the over world, but he's a synth and thus doesn't get an opinion. Everyone else seems to be a bit more on the side of not giving a fuck as long as they don't have to go outside themselves. Plus they do recruit from the wasteland when talented people pop up.

What weapon is the best in the hands of a companion?
So far I've found spray and pray and the gauss rifle are ridiculous. SnP chews ammo, but it's cheap. I'mpretty sure companions always fully charge the gauss rifle before shooting because they almost one shot most mobs with it. They also are quite accurate adn good with 2mm ammo.

Naturally, you stumble upon the facility and suit up and teleport there.

The story revolves around getting it.

The earlier autism in /fog/ over shotguns made me consider replacing the riot shotgun model with the Pancor Jackhammer, since the latter looks a lot cooler but I prefer to keep the game balanced rather than adding a new weapon to the lists.
