I beat all three games on master. The iron sight zoom was annoying back then, and it's still annoying now. CQB is annoying as fuck with it, especially when enemies can 1shot you at point blank the moment they pop out in close quarters.

i had this idea for a CoC mod that i'm not sure is feasible. basically, actual permadeath, ironman mode wouldn't delete your save when you die, instead your corpse just drops and you start back at the default starting location with your default starting gear as a new character on the same save in the same world, that's it. you could get the loot back from your previous characters' corpses if the existing ai doesn't get to it first. is this technically doable, engine-wise? at all?

Probably requires outside-of-engine coding, or some major workarounds (removing the games ability to "kill" you, at teleporting you back when you die). I also don't see a way of persisting the bodies having been looted.

Also, it's not that great of an idea. See Dwarf Fortress adventure mode. It kinda becomes boring.

Moist Nugget uses 7.62x54, same as the pkm in misery, which means if you ever find one you've got at most 100 more moist nuggie shots. The 7.62 round in misery is pretty much the "guaranteed ohko" round when it comes to headshots, since sophisticated headgear can still eat a 5.45 round, but they'll most likely fall to the floor shitting themselves aloud for a minute first.

Misery differentiates different types of bullets for a given caliber, nugs by default use plain as shit surplus 54r, while SVDs and the like are only used with modern 54r AP match ammo and shit like that.

Amusingly, the SKS can be upgraded to 54r and it becomes and absurdly good mid-range weapon.

I'm not sure, some of the ammunition changes make little sense. Most pistols in the game can have ammunition upgrades despite 9x18 and 9x19 having almost the same penetration rating. The moist nugget shouldn't even be used past game-start anyway, it's bolt and the top of the gas station gives you a free max-condition akm, all of your 7's should go into it anyway

/k/ would have a shitfit with Misery. Aside from only being able to upgrade a bubba'd plastic stock SKS into the aforementioned 54r abortion (wood apparently can't handle the powah), the actual ballistics knowledge going into most of the ammo types is ass backwards.

The main offender I recall is that the game has hollow point and overpressure rounds backwards, in that HP pierces armor and +P+ does more tissue damage; this alone puts anyone with decent firearms knowledge into a frothing fit.

The sheer fact that the revolver is shit for hunting any of the animals shows how much misery can't into ammunition. Both of the most common rounds for .357 in the zone are incendiary and hp, and you need to fire at least 8 of them into a mere flesh to end them, 5 into a cat's head.

Owner of multiple sets of NVGs here. Trying to look through a mounted scope with even a double eye piece model like the soviet 1PN63 is functionally impossible just due to angle, and even barring that problem the actual light amplification of newer gen models would still shit itself on scope light.

That's to say nothing of IR illumination which isn't factored into STALKER at all though, but the end result is hat trying to use a rifle scope with NVGs is going to result in nothing but an aching neck and a uselessly blurred sight picture.

i was in the same situation sorta(as Duty cleaning army warehouses camps)

Emission coming, go inside a house, 1-2 mins before the emission ended freedom fighters tried to rush me and they started coming in from one house to mine and they didnt get turned into zombies.

They were left unaffected by the emission.

I know its cheesy but, I just want to up the carry capacity to 80 kg on shadow of Chernobyl, I downloaded a mod off of the nexus for 2000 kg or some retarded amount and set it down to 80 and 85 or 90 for the immobility to set in, I got it to work for a bit, but now the game seems to crash whenever I try to load a save or just on trying to fire up the game. any suggestions/help? heres a couple of Snips pasted together of the seemingly only relevant sections of "actor" "system" and "fsgame"
any help is very appreciated

Ill try to find the crash log,
It didnt have a gamedata folder originally, so I downloaded one off of somewhere, and eventually replaced it with the one from nexusmods. The only thing I changed in fsgame was the line for game data from false to true. I even reverted the change and cut the gamedata folder a few times and the game works as ive I never did anything in the first place.

you should have extracted yours from your db files. replacing system.ltx could cause problems when saving/making saves.

specifically if

current_server_entity_version = 7

in system.ltx is different than the game version you are playing on. 1.0004 vs 1.0005+6

I only downloaded gamedata folder from the nexus, which having went back to it I realized im retarded, the page says its for 1.0004. could I just change those values in a 1.0006 gamedata folder?

sorry for a third post, but I changed that value under "current_server_entity_version = 6" to a 7, I loaded the game up and it seems to work fine now, but for future reference, was that value what causes incompatibility between patch versions?

I played and finished Shadow of Chernobyl some months back and today decided to try out one of the overhauls, namely AMK: Autumn Edition.

After the early game hell in Vanilla SOC, it's pretty refreshing to be able to actually hit what I'm aiming for with the starter weapons, even the crappy Makarov pistol seemed pretty accurate compared to vanilla.

yeah it restricts some stuff, though some guns you can sell to traders, and others you can't.
you can sell some guns to Stalkers as well.
You can sell suits to Traders as well.
