I finished one route in Dot Kareshi. The music was great, the UI too, the art was light and looked neat, actually, but everything else was utter shit. My favorite thing about the game was the setting. What really disappointed me was the lack of CG variations. Overall I give it a 6/10. I hope the other parts and the guys in them are better. Been playing Animamundi recently. I've applied the decensor patch and since then the gallery appears all fucked up. The pictures will never load. Is this just a feature necessary to play the game uncut or is the gallery just a problem on my end?
Also I heard there was a bug in which you can only collect 85/88 items in the game before they stop registering. Was that patched out or should I be wary when playing? I've already collected all the book items which seem pretty unnecessary as all they give is hints (useless when using a walkthrough) so if I can't collect all the crosses or research materials necessaru for the endings, it would suck.

Disregarding all my tech questions, Animamundi is a total chore to play. I like the story, but the dated gameplay and UI hampers the experience. Skipping is slow as sin, but would be tolerable if I could just let it play in the back while doing other stuff. But then the inclusion of timed choices makes you have to scramble to open the window back up before your 15 seconds (?) is up. Requires a lot of focus.
I know timed choices were big in like console VN/dating sim hybrids like Sakura Taisen but does anyone really like them? Any games lately that incorporate them; I feel like it was definitely an early 2000s thing?
To me timed choices should only be used in select scenes to emulate quick thinking alongside a tense situation (non-otome/BL example but: the end of Little Busters comes to mind). Not for every little thing.

The setting itself is nice, but the story is written so shallow - you might get a few lines like "I scheduled x arrangements on the phone then drove the band to their photo shoot," then get shifted into generic sick/drunk/our song sucks but we don't know why/etc. scene where everything down to their dialogue is predictable.
