Pokemon Go can be described simply as the Geocaching of Pokemon. Grab your smartphone, get some exercise, catch some mons, battle some people - the usual Pokemon gig.

Basic info:
As you traverse the real world, as represented on the in-game map, you'll occasionally run into tufts of rustling grass. Approaching these will end with a Pokémon appearing on the map, and clicking on it will initiate a battle.
Battles aren't between two Pokémon, though. They're between a Pokémon and your ability to swipe a Poké Ball in their direction. When you engage a Poké Ball, a colored ring will appear around the opponent. These change in size after each capture attempt. Throwing a Ball during a smaller window seems to be more effective, based on our time with the game, but that's a part we're still trying to figure out.
Going near water will attract water Pokémon. Playing at night brings out more nocturnal creatures, like Clefairy and Gastly.
Hatching Eggs: Each Egg displays the number of kilometers you must walk for the Egg to hatch. In general, the more kilometers required, the rarer the Pokémon that will hatch. A notification will appear when the Egg has hatched.
Make sure you have the Pokémon GO app open while you walk. Kilometers walked when the Pokémon GO app is closed won’t count toward hatching your Eggs.
Gyms: Fight at your team's gym to train and increase it's reputation. Fight at other team's to decrease their reputation. Tap your opponent to hit them, swipe left or right to dodge attacks, once one or more blue bars are filled, tap and hold to power up your secondary attack, release when the smaller blue bar fills up. Take over other teams' gyms and put your mons in to defend them.

This is the intended grind strat, they won't patch it. It keeps people hooked on getting lucky eggs, and the impatient will buy lucky eggs. And let's be honest Niantic never bothers with patching or upgrades

Electabuzz hatches from 10k eggs. Tentacool is easy to find near water and can learn electric moves. Jolteon is probably the easiest to find. I did find a couple of Vegemites and Voltorbs today with my son at the aquarium of all places.

I had a 165 cp eevee and it evolved into a vaporeon and got over 300cp in increase, ~460cp in total.
eevee is a very common pokemon and that allows for easy level ups and each level up i got 41cp per level and now it's at 855 with 5 level ups left at trainer level 11

That's normal. Most monsters hit a 2-3x multiplier like that. As your level goes up you'll get stronger eevee and the multiplier will have more effect.

for example with flame charge here, it has 5 bars and 20 damage
with hyperbeam it will have one single large bar, and 70 damage

Protip: Moveset only matters based on how fast you can tap (attack 1) and whether you finish the battle or not before the special charges (attack 2)
CP matters more. If your raticate is CP 10, you're not likely to win against anything in the triple digits. The score evens out a little in the three digit range if you're doing a 6v1.

Organized flipping is dependent on coordination. The exp you get goes towards your trainer rank anyways, so you're bound to get higher CP mons. If a person comes and tries to cap, then you just recap and continue. Even a single 1.5k mon can be taken with a team of 800s if you spam hard enough.
But once the coordination is down, say between you and a friend, then you just cap with your strong, leave a sacrificial to guard, then your friend caps, and so forth. evolution is super important for xp and for getting strong pokedudes
the way evolution works is that the cp percentage carries over through the evolution
for example with my pidgeot I had a pidgey that was nearly full on his cp potential (180 or something? i dont remember)
evolved him into pidgeotto, it kept the same percentage, but became 300something, and then the same when evolved into pidgeot, same percentage, but 400+
so basically you want to evolve dudes that you've caught who already have as high cp percentage as possible in comparison to evolving a low cp one and powering it up

The problem is in this case we have two unknown variables. The weight issue as well as the movesets.
If say we had three Pidgeots with different weights but the same moveset, and they all attack at the same speed. Then we know weight doesn't have impact on ASPD.
Then we could try different moves and see if the ASPD changes dramatically, and that should clarify a little more about moveset differences.
Having at least one of the variables makes the other a little easier to make inferences on. Could also reverse it of course and see.
Of course given niantic we might just very well end up with "NOTHING MATTERS IT'S ALL JUST RNG" and we were all just overthinking cosmetic details.

Pop up when you feel like it and strike up a conversation. It it goes well (ie, you start to talk about stuff other than pokemon), then you can invite them for a beer or something. Most of this is about learning how to go with the flow, and how to manipulate said flow.

great success, got to level 10 and spotted a wild black man asking my younger brother and I for drugs.
Strategy Question: should I evolve duplicate pokemon (ex. multiple Pigeots), or evolve one of each stage (1 Pidgey, 1 Pigeotto, etc)???
one would give me better battling capability... other would complete my collection... pokedex *kinda* substitutes for a collection because it shows what you've "caught" (owned)
otherwise what am I gonna do with all this [Pidgey Candy?]???

can confirm that the nearby pokemon feature is sorta bugged.
sometimes it will show 3 step pokemon as 3 steps permanently, it requires restarting the scanner.

I haven't found any pokestops yet I'm starting to think my area doesn't have any or atleast not unless I go downtown. I really want to get eggs and stuff from there.
Also anyone hoping to set up trading and pvp soon? I caught a bunch of vulpixs because I want to get a nine tails to trade with my little bother. Nothing but shit tier Pokemon back home.
