Which I think works. Having said that from about level 10 onwards I have been able to use it nonstop and always find more cores than I need.

They could have made the repair costs higher though. or perhaps had the amount you can repair the sets tied to the armourer perk. With the lesser sets you can fully repair with just some steel and you're good to go.

according to the lore, the early suits such as the T-45a and b series did, in fact, have fusion cores. but were replaced because they burned through them at an alarming rate.

they were replaced with micro fusion packs built into the armour.
so what actually happening is that people are putting standardised fusion cores that were made for commercial use into military hardware that doesn't take them anymore.

There are suits that exist that have those power sources. I think that what we use are all alpha production models that were first modeled on the T-45's frame before they figured out what it is that they intended to do.

The exoskeletons are the thing that every PA shares in common, and the Exoskeleton is the thing that takes FC's.
As such, it's easy to believe that in the CW there were an excess bulk of T-60 Exoskeletons (FO4 exclusive, takes FC's only) and those were used to build the bases.
Alternatively because you know, logistics, all power armors shared the same exoskeleton that took FC's and it had just entered production 4 months before the war.
So... Speculation it is?

the only thing bethesda are good at is the scope and general mechanics of the game they aim to create. Literally everything about their games otherwise is subpar and poorly made.

They are the only devs really putting out big RPG's that are truly sandbox. fallout is certainly one of the only AAA post-apocalypse one.There are some other fantasy titles, but not really anything with the same choose-your-own adventure type theme that elder scrolls have.

I don't need a middle conclusion. Fact is that Bethesda introduced Fusion Cores to nerf the Power Armor they give to the player so easily. I'm 100% positive no Fusion Cores would exist if Power Armor was given to the player in the last quests of the game.

And because it is an active organization, power armor is actively used and refueled. Call it "lore" if you want to, it doesn't change the fact that Power Armor, for the first time ever in a Fallout game, is handed to the player extremely early on. It was advertised as the next big thing, and it was to be expected that Power Armor is the most emphasized piece of equipment in the game, with paint jobs, power armor building (are you gonna claim that power armor is very easy to work with?) and so on, when in every other game except Fallout 3 power armor was very out of the way: BoS was lategame material for Fallout 1, and New Vegas' BoS was very well hidden, whereas Fallout 3 had power armor IN YOUR FACE and had you use a Fat Man to fight a giant mutant.

So I was thinking.

You know how the NCR trooper fatigues vary in accesories? Why didn't Bethesda make combat armor a mod for army fatigues as well as for other outfits it is suitable for? The same for leather and metal armor only being mods for certain outfits. Never really seen screenshots of people wearing a combination of armors.
