Swords get their cutting power from movement parallel to the blade. Even if you were to drop it onto your arm perpendicularly, it wouldn't do much.

Not necessarily. You will have to start the same way in both cases.
So if you have no experience in texture editing I would recommend to start with the body diffuse map.
Have a look at the example here.
You can just apply the tattoo textures on a extra layer on top of the body textures and then simply adjust color and opacity.
The main problem is that there will be distortions in some parts of the body that you'll need to correct.
On the female texture it's mostly around the shoulders/breasts.

I think I'm bored of Skyrim again, and I can't look passed how ~~shit~~ dated Morrowind is so might never get into playing it. Might start Oblivion again. What are some essential mods for it and some good ones that aren't too game changing that a toaster can still handle?

Armor is the Witcher 2 plate, the Dawnguard Plate version, to be specific. Shield is a retexture for the Witcher 2 Shields pack, which gives them all livery closer to IRL historical onesthat on pictures depicts St. George, which is why my LDB uses it for obvious reasonsand the sword is the Baron by Albion, or worded similarly.
