when doing bombs, what's the max theoretical results that you can obtain?
and what's the actual max cap?

The server's current bombcap is 7 dev. This cap is a server config.

Correct. Dev is a measure of the radius of how many tiles are totally obliterated by the explosion, at the center.

Heaters and freezers are the best way to hit anything over 7. You can easily min-max and the likes, but you can hit 7dev with a good burn mix without filtering it. Your main goal is to have as many moles in the reaction while hitting over the 100c ignition temp. Which means, cold oxygen, 'warm' plasma.

The plasma is what burns, and the oxygen fuels it, I'm pretty sure it's a waste of space to have any other oxygen and plasma. I was going to get full autistic and try and work out how to achieve the max-max dev, but I play space to get away from doing the things I do in real life so I've really half-assed it.

As a side note, there's a few people on /vg/ who have spreadsheets and the likes for bombs, or even just remember how to achieve the bigger ones. I think they'd all rather people work it out on their own than baby people through it though.

by the way it seems to me that burning and filtering the gas is faster than waiting for the heater to heat the canister, i'll do more experiments to see if it's the case

Good luck, using the burn chamber is much faster yeah. Heaters are slow, especially with plasma's high heat capacity, but somewhat more accurate. However be careful with both heaters and freezers, they're buggy as hell and don't always heat/cool to what you set it at in the canister itself.
