Here's a preinstalled AA2 torrent for anyone who wants to "install" the game without going through the actual installation procedure. It has 2 steps to make it work as if it's a fresh install of AA2 straight from the DVD with the basics applied. After that it's just a matter of modding it to your pleasing using AA2install.

Included mods: AA2Install, AAFace, English translations for both game and editor (removable), AA2Editor tweak and Frontier .exes.
Also, a PSA: Illusion in their infinite wisdom has left NPC background voices disabled by default and that feature adds a lot of atmosphere to the game. To enable it go to settings and then additional functions page 1 in game (it's the very first option on that page) or edit the setting.ini so that listen under mute section is 0 instead of 1.
I made that change in the preinstall source files, but I don't know if I'll ever end up packaging it. Such a small change isn't worth repackaging and I don't really have any other ideas for changes.

We use Mega because it's free, no DL limit and allows linking folders but you can use whatever you want as long as it's not temporary like uguu

The personality names will remain in a##/s## format partially because I haven't experiemented with the subs displaying the personality name yet.

I took my time with it and I can't seem to link the .pp to the overlay for some reason, this is probably why the overlay hasn't been updated for a while.
I also realized the HEXAPP and NODIM compatability mods aren't exactly working for me, giving 0% interactions all around for some personalities ie: Brave, AA1 Quiet, Empress. The interaction bug fixes itself when I uninstall the nodim mod.
Maybe there is something I've overlooked or something?

if it helps here's how it looks on my end
you have to apply the patch after everything else so basically the order is: NoDim -> HEXAPP -> HEXAPP NoDim Patch -> other misc personalities -> patches for them. Make sure the patches are applied - rummage through the .lst they edit and see that the changes are there.

I mean I guess it won't kill you and I seriously doubt these uncensors have anything to do with the hair pack problems, but it does suggest to me that you've no fucking clue what you're doing and who knows what could be wrong with your install. .lst are just txt files, you can edit them with whatever. Just open the patches archives to see where you can find them and check your actual .lsts(the ones in your data folder) to see if you installed the patches.
I beliebe it's better to use the hexapp's patch since it's supposed to be up to date with the hexapp personalities. Use separate patches for the personalities that aren't covered by hexapp

I've had AA2 installed since it came out and things got so fucked up that I did a fresh install 2 days ago. It'll take a while to get everything back to the way you want, but it's worth it. All of your mods and add-ons will be updated to the newest version and you'll have a lot more toys to play with that you didn't even know existed

I've noticed when I played with modded personalities that certain personalities don't show up on the subtitle overlay like Brave and AA1 Quiet.
What I'm trying to do is update the subtitle overlay and etc. files to support these modded personalities and perhaps make a MasterSub txt file.

Keep in mind though that some personalities that have shitty .wav names are not supported by subtitle overlay at all. That's because they're not audible when eavesdropping. The game looks at the .wav names and plays them and overlay picks it up but since the names are wrong the game can't see them and nothing goes to the overlay. It can be fixed but that's a very tedious process, i imagine (maybe less so with batch renaming of the audio files)

it's not complex as in you just have to fix the filenames and their references in the .lsts but since there are quite a bit of lines it's a tedious process. If you can automate it at least partially then it will be much easier but I'm pretty sure you have to be familiar with regular expressions and you know what people say about those.

I see what you're trying to do with the outlines considering most anime characters have appropriately colored outlines depending on what color their hair, body, clothes, etc. are, but it just kind of looks weird when only the hair/face are properly colored and the rest isn't.
Hopefully in some future anime game they actually let you get full hands on control autistic with the outlines for everything. It's a pretty huge aspect of the anime aesthetic that the all-black-outlines for AA2 completely fucks up.

you can use outliner to change all the outlines everywhere but then you have a problem when the outline is brighter than the mesh itself(especially noticeable on black outfits). It looks decent if only bodies are affected though.

To apply that quote to reality though, you only have(more like recommended)to know the concept behind the regular expressions but don't have to write them yourself so it' not a big deal. If you use something like Bulk Rename Utility you basically instruct the program to write those regular expressions for you and rename a bunch of files. Notepad++ also supports string substitutions in bulk. Just don't try renaming everything by hand - you'll hate yourself and everything in existence.

But man, I don't know if I can go through with it. I managed to build a relationship with Nakanuma Urara whom I planned to be the murder victim.
