Dont know if this is the right place to ask.
My 3ds wifi switch hasnt been working properly in the last 6 months. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. For the past 3 months its been fine and it hasnt been working properly all of a sudden.

I already opened it up previously to reattach the wifi shit but that didnt do much. I know the wifi button is working because everytime i flick it up the icon bounces. Right now the wifi stays on for long periods and turns off for long periods with no way to turn it off/on. Any tips here?

My bad anon, i cant access my menuhax without it(was going to install it today).

I haven't updated my 3ds cfw since january and I used the browser exploit to launch into the updated emunand to play .cia games. My sysnand is still 9.2, but I never setup it booting directly into emunand or menuhax/CTRbootmanager etc. I read the thread in the pastebin about updating from rxtools but it requires me to be booting directly into one of those. I tried CTRbootmanager but the 3ds boots normally even after configuring the boot.cfg.

How do I make it boot directly into menuhax? I'm attempting to upgrade to Luma3ds.

I was following Plailects guide and I got to Section II of Part 5.

When I went to the site to load the .bin file the bottom screen glitched out and stayed like that for a while. I turned the system off thinking I could try again but now it doesnt boot at all with the SD Card out and I only get a black screen with it in. What can I do?

What do you guys think the recommend size of an SD card is for 3DS piracy?

I remember Donkey Kong Country Returns taking up a full GB of space on my XL's hard drive when Nintendo gave me a free copy of it.

Are pirated games done in a way that make them similar sizes, or could I easily pirate a handful of games with a simple 2GB SD card?

I have about 8-9 2 GB ones laying around in my house but if these games are large I might just buy an 8-16 one. I'd expect to download at least 5-6 games on it in the next couple of months.
>>
>>147032852
>Are pirated games done in a way that make them similar sizes, or could I easily pirate a handful of games with a simple 2GB SD card?

Actually pirated games are basically streamed off of nintendo servers using only the ticket, which is a super small file with some attributes and keys and things. So realistically speaking you'll never need more than a 2gb sd card unless you plan on trying to download the whole library or something
>>
>>147032852
16GB is sufficient. Everything above 32GB is unnecessary.
But if you actually want to play games, get an 8GB card so you don't start to hoard games.

Please don't use the simple 3DS to cia converter. That tampers with the cia, making them region-free.
It's a horrid idea to do that because fan patches usually need a clean cia (like Taiko no Tatsujin 3 needs).

On your SD, do you have the OTP.bin file? If so, a9lh probably got installed and you can keep going on with the guide.

You're likely booting to a black screen with your SD card in because Luma can't boot 2.10, and not booting at all because a9lh doesn't work without the SD.

It didn't for me. I've heard it's happened to people, and I've heard it doesn't happen to people.

What I hear is that Nintendo only deletes DLCs that you don't own if you have bought some for the game (e.g. you bought Cloud but downloaded all the other characters).

>>
>>147035915
So the best way to remain updated is just downloading from 3ds.titlekeys.com? That is slightly inconvenient.
>>
>>147035795
128GB would be way more than enough which is why I said 64GB was golden. The chance of you downloading that many games even with the future in mind is impossible unless you put every game you own onto the system instead of your cart, every decent game, and a bunch of games you barely care about as well. Like, even if you data hoard it's tough to hit that much.
>>
>>147036030
Money isn't an issue.
Time however is. It takes a very long time to just install one game on n3ds, be it by QR or even using FTP.
>>
>>147036162
It's going to take a long time to install a game regardless of your SD card.
>>
>>147036260
Yes but my point was, the more games you can fit on your SD card, the less the need to remove/install games because you're out of space. So in the end you save time. The 3DS has a big library of good games and that's not counting GBA/SNES/other platforms.
>>
>>147036376
it also has a title limit of 300
>>
>>147036376
Well like I said, the chance of you managing to fill up 64GB is pretty low in the first place even with the most reputable games, DLC, patches, and foreign games on top of VC stuff, but if money is no issue then sure, go for 128, I just don't think you'd really use it.

I'm at Part 4, Section 2, Number 4. The problem is I need to backup EmuNAND to continue, but my SD card is only 4GB, and thus not big enough to do that (as far as I can tell).

SO, what I WANT to do is transfer all this hack-y shit onto my 16GB card. HOWEVER, the only way I've been told to do it is to backup EmuNAND and move it- which is the entire problem to begin with and obviously something I cannot to. Not to mention, wouldn't doing that and formatting the 16GB SD just make it function as a 4GB anyway??

I am on my hands and knees begging for help here. I've followed the guide fine up until now- if I could just get everything I've done onto my bigger SD, everything would be fine.

Drag & drop all the files from your 4GB to your 16GB.

I'm confident that installing every relevant game and a lot of the not so relevant won't go fill a 64gb sd, but if you really want a 128, then go for it.
You can leave games installing while doing something else, at least that's what I usually do, so I'm not so sure about all that saved time. Also, if time is such and issue for you then you'll probably pass on the bad titles, so I'd say even 32gb would be enough for you.

I have a friend who has three 3DS systems (o3DS, o3DSXL and n3DSXL) and he only wanted to do the o3DS and o3DSXL because he likes to have an untempered console while it's still being supported. But putting RedNAND/a9lh on it doesn't change any functionality.
He still refused to hack his n3DSXL, which is objectively the superior platform and more desireable to hack because of it.
I want to understand.

I bought the special OOT 3DS when it launched, sometime around early 2011 and played the shit out of it.

When the XL came out around early 2015 I bought the special edition that comes with A Link Between Worlds because it costed almost as much as a regular XL on it's own, so I decided to upgrade. I haven't touched my regular 3DS since I bought the XL and I only just recently decided to try pirating games on it, but when I checked both versions, my XL has 11.0 which apparently means I'm fucked unless I hardmod it, whereas my original 3DS has a much older version on it.

Let me just make sure I understand every step of this so I don't fuck it up. I don't mean to be redundant, but I'm not as good at this type of thing as as y'all are.

0: Back up every single file on my 4GB SD card in a folder on my PC
1: Delete Nintendo 3DS folder from 4GB SD card
2: Put 4GB SD card back into 3DS
3: Back up a file called emuNAND.bin somehow? Probably using EmuNAND9? I'm not exactly sure.
4: Put that file onto the computer I guess??
5: Open EmuNAND9
6: Select "Format SD"?
7: Enter a key combo
8: Remove 4GB card, and replace with 16GB card
9: Let it do it's thing?
10: Put the 16GB card into the PC
11: Copy all my back files from step 0 over.
12: Copy the "emuNAND.bin" over? I don't know what or how to inject that?

Was I even close to right here? I know I'm stupid, just help me out here.
>>
>>147039085
well I guess that's true if you use shitty browsers like Chrome, but good browsers like Firefox saves partly downloaded files in cache.
>>
>>147039768
Yes that is correct.
To inject it, use EmuNAND9 restore emuNAND option.
>>
>>147038715
It's not downloaded, that's why it's not in the titles. Just open it, and a dialog box'll pop up saying "Would you like to play this?". Tell it no, and tell it that you don't want to receive any more downloaded games, and it'll disappear.

So I'd like to know if I understand this correctly- The current WiiU exploit is not permanent, and needs to be run every time I want to run any homebrew application, correct?

The reason I ask is because I like to wait for things to be absolutely ironed out before doing anything pertaining to (permanently) modifying IOS files, or custom firmware or anything of that sort. My only interest at the moment with WiiU homebrew is playing the patched version of TMS, so it's not exactly pressing.

Is my assumption correct?
>>
>>147043459
correct, there's no cfw or anything like that yet without a public iosu exploit, you can do the patching thing just fine now
>>
>>147043569

I will pay literally $000.00 dollars to anyone who can just help me out here. I get that I am probably irritating the shit out of at least one person by being so stupid, but I need some fuckin' help.

I don't think it's a super hard question for smart guys like you. I just need it answered. PLEASE.

I am on Step 7 of >>147039768. My overall objective is to transfer all my stuff from my small SD card to a larger SD card. Now, you guys told me the way to do that involved using EmuNAND9 to format my SD card.

So what I'm wondering is:

Are you saying I should start the format on the 4GB, and at some point during the format process it'll tell me to switch to the 16GB one? In other words, do I press A to format, while still having my 4GB card plugged in? And then at some point during the format process it'll ask me to switch cards?

OR do I just rip out the 4GB card before hitting A to start the format, and just replace it with my 16GB card?

God damn it, I just want my stuff on a bigger card.
>>
>>147043662
for actual retail games sure but loadine is SD card only, some games have longer load times than normal
>>
>>147043731
No, we still don't know what it was for.
>>
>>147043775

>>
>>147043320
How is it bloated? Also name one reason Cakes is better than Luma3DS that not also applies to Corbenik.
>>
Do you even need to make any nand dumps to migrate to a bigger SD card if you're not running an emunand?
>>
>>147043875
I'm being cautious because I don't want to wildly just hit "yes" to formatting my entire memory card, and have it turn out to be that I did the wrong thing. How would I possibly know that it would tell me to switch cards?

So let me just confirm, for both our sakes, so I can stop asking:

I START the formatting on my 4GB SD card, then at some point it'll tell me to switch cards, and through this process, my 16GB card will be the formatted card, NOT my 4GB card?
>>
>>147044002
No.
>>147044028
Yes. After you enter the 5 button combo, it will tell you to switch SD cards and press A. Which you should do, and the 16GB will be formatted.

You can safely move them onto your PC HDD that's for sure, they only take space on SD card now. In case you'll ever need them, you'll most likely be able to just copy them back onto SD card.
