Your choices mostly having very limited consequences is fine when you're a lone wastelander roaming around, that's fine. But in FO4 Bethesda in their infinite fucking wisdom gave you a whole faction to lead and several to influence and still thought it would be fine to apply the same, in some cases even more limited, consequences. That is not. Additionally your chosen skills and perks have no impact on the dialogue choices at all as long as you have enough charisma. That alone is unforgivable for a Fallout main series game.

You can tell him that you want to intimidate, coerce or seduce the NPC to affect the conversation, fuck, you can even just RP really fucking well and get the same. You can't do that in FO4 and only to a limited extend in FO2 and NV. But the point is that you can. Maybe you don't have the 8 charisma that you need to win the conversation but maybe you have terrifying presence or cannibal or 10 perception or 10 intelligence so you can catch him making a contradicting statement. That is the very fucking base line for Fallout.

Nothing happens to the Minutemen. Same as nothing really happens to the Minutemen if you do their faction ending. Preston remains as the radiant quest giver and possibly companion depending on whether or not you activate the Institute evacuation alarm. Minutemen patrols still exist too. And after the game the institutes remaining forces decide to attack the castle for whatever reason.

You can even kill off the Brotherhood with them should you become a bumbling retard for some reason.

They are a bunch of fools. Synths are legitimately machines programmed to be Human. This is why the institute can create Synths with specific intentions. Like Danse, he was programmed to be the ideal Brotherhood soldier and he was. Even the railroad reprograms Synths whenever they do a mind wipe and reset. Synths aren't supremely dangerous but it's a risk to keep them around in large numbers.

Gen 1 and 2 synths aren't a problem for me though. No different than a protectron or Mr. Gutsy. The problem arises when you give them "sentience" and disguise them as Human, Mayor McDoughnut is a good example. Or the Synth who was in charge of Libertalia, though that one was actually the Railroads fault. I went on a bit of a tangent there.

I believe you do all of the Brotherhood and Railroad quests up until Mass Fusion. Then, you go to the Institute, shoot someone and get out, ostensibly blowing your cover (quest called "Burning Cover" I think). BoS and Railroad will tell you to go to Preston Garvey.

Yeah, I honestly guessed there were only a handful. Like 8 or so. Even that few leaves them better off than any other faction in the commonwealth. The gunners are supposed to have some but I'm hundreds of hours in and have literally never seen one on 3 different characters. One playthrough only.
While playing as LIGHTNING MAN using only a tesla gun and pulse grenades and wearing tesla armor with tesla coils chest mod and tesla bracers on both arms. I had an automotron named Zap-o-tron 9001 with full voltaic armor, a lightning gun, and a shock claw. Played minutemen because I had never done their playthrough before.
