I finally understood Mei.
Her close quarters freeze is satisfying for the player, it's ''fun''. The enemy may get frustrated from getting frozen, but that's a psychological mistake, as (s)he should always reflect on how (s)he allowed the Mei player to get close enough for the freeze.
It's typical shitter behavior to get mad at their own faults.
Also Mei freezing a player is the first step for the potential kill. Mei teammates can assist her, or Mei enemies can save
their teammate from death. Most of the times you don't see enough teamplay in pubs so it frequently ends with Mei finishing
its enemy with icicle headshot.
Her mid/long range dps isn't that great, yet mentally rewarding. Her icicle deals 75 dmg max, allowing for 1HKOs agaisnt Tracer/
Zenyatta, which again is really satisfying.
Both icewall and iceblock have a lot of potential for teamplay. Her iceblock can actually block ultimates suck as D.Va self-destruct,
allowing teammates to take cover behind her.
She's not unbalanced, nor annoying. She's the ultimate shitter detector.

I don't get all of the Zarya whining I've seen here. As somebody who's played a ton of her (I'm not a Zarya main, but I'm my team's main Zarya, if that makes sense) and who often plays against her, she goes down pretty quickly when she's actually on the point, where she should be. The only time she's really all that hard to kill is when she's hanging back and not playing the objective, and in those cases you don't really need to worry about her. She's also a relatively high skillcap character, and chances are you won't run into many people who are truly good with her.

Because they work well together in gameplay, Pharah flying just gives Mercy tons of mobility. If a Winston is chasing you you can fly up to safety, if an ally needs healing but is far and behind a wall you can fly to Pharah to get line of sight then fly to him, etc. She can also just stay in the air with Pharah to heal/damage boost her.
