Would it be possible to mod battles in EUIV so that armies are far less likely to have a broken retreat and instead perish under most circumstances?
Battles as they are currently in the game feel almost irrelevant to the outcome of any war as any defeated army just comes back two months later at full strength and it makes defeating powerful nations as small ones almost impossible.

Hey senpai. You may remember me from a few threads ago. It's 1954 and the Netherlands has been sucked into Allies vs. (Axis and Comintern). I plan to finish this game tonight.
So far:
Military Casualties:
Axis Casualties: 42.68 million.
Allied Casualties: 30.996 million.
Comintern Casualties: 10.847 million.
Civilian Casualties are probably around double the military casualties according to actual WW2 figures, so let's say 170 million.
That's 11.07% of the world's population, compared to WW2's actual 3%.
For the Netherlands in particular, I'm at 0 manpower and I'm using scraping the barrel, so that means a quarter of the population is dead _not including civilian deaths_ (although there will be proportionately less of those, because by Scraping the Barrel I turn civilian deaths into military deaths).

Alright, can we put the memes aside for a moment and all agree that, for what it set out to do, HoI4 is a success? It gave us a WWII grandstrat free from all the archaic bullshit of Darkest Hour, and also much easier to get into than HoI3. Can anyone here honestly say they enjoy wasting an hour to fix their OoB every time they start a game of HoI3? Not to mention that, rather than needing to tediously micromanage industry like in other HoI games, HoI4's industry is both streamlined as well as more intuitive than the previous games. Yeah, it's true that HoI4 leads to more "ahistorical" scenarios, but isn't that the point? Why even bother playing the game if the outcome is predetermined form the start? Moreover, from a pure gameplay perspective, giving the player more options, whether they be historical or ahistorical, is a total success. Sure, Mosley ruling Britain never could have happened in reality, but it's fun to have the ability to easily do so in video game form.
Overall, I feel that HoI4 is getting a lot of undeserved hate simply because it isn't a total copy of HoI3 with slightly better graphics. Of COURSE the game is different - HoI3 already exists, there would be no point to making the same game again! HoI4 may be different, but that's by design, not by some unforeseen flaw, and it should be celebrated for the changes it made, not hated on.

You don't need an armored division as Sweden since it's mostly hills and winter. Go for a couple of mountain divisions and infantry spam for the rest. If you're going to conquer Scandinavia/Baltics/Northern Europe in general, focus on air superiority as most of those nations suck at it and having it is a huge plus
As for the division template, when you research the light tank, you get one for free if I'm not wrong

Shit, I think I used to have the exact same problem. It has something to do with the codex for the video player you've installed (however retarded that sounds). Check if the codex icons appear in your taskbar notifications area once you launch the game

I've also had some similar problems with old 2003 RPG Maker games where it won't play music and then freeze after a bit.

I've put the HPM mod shit into my documents/paradox interactive/mod folder, I see that the launcher detects the mod but when I launch it the game is still fucking vanilla

So I finally took Croatia from the Germans. One thing I've noticed is that the AI is way, way more likely to accept peace deals compared to EU4. Usually a couple of battles and maybe an occupation or two is enough.
I didn't even have Russia with me in this war. Me and Sweden literally beat Germany, Turkey, and Spain on our own. We had something like 400 brigades to their 500.
