How do you guys feel about the Warrior class?
As a somewhat new player who has less then 1000 hours, I have come to notice that WAR is capable of adequately fulfilling two out of the three holy trinity MMO roles in any content.
They have high enough health and defensive cooldowns to mitigate damage, combos that of course generate enmity, and DPS comparable to the worst designated DPS class in the game. The only other class I know of that is similar is SCH, which can heal and DPS sufficiently as well.
I can't help but feel it makes playing any other tanking class completely pointless. Sure, you can play DRK or PLD for fun, but as an autist, it always severely bothers me knowing I could be doing way more for my group by playing WAR.
The way I see it is you're offered a job, lets just say janitor.
Three different companies offer you this janitor position, but they all are willing to pay different salaries.
PLD is like $25K/yr, DRK $30K/yr , and WAR $40K/yr.
Why would you NOT chose Warrior? You do essentially the same thing across all three, but get way more out of it going with WAR.
It feels entirely imbalanced and discourages players from playing as the other two available tanks. Worst of all is the sad fucking state of PLD, with absolutely abysmal DPS compared to any other class besides healers.
I am interested in how you guys feel about this, and in general the supreme meta that seems to hover over this game: No matter the class, DPS.

Not the anon you quoted, but I play PLD and struggle with the Bioculture Nodes in the research facility. When they spawn in that massive amount of adds, I always have to panic and smash flash rotating between a bunch of enemies and one or two still manage to break away for a bit.

in my very not-game-designer opinion: Samurai needs to be the aggressive off tank to compete with Warrior's slot, and a healer needs to be introduced that directly competes with Scholar as well.
as far as rebalancing the tanks, they're pretty much fulfilling the right roles right now. DRK and PLD will trade blows based on what better suits the content, but they're as balanced as you can get currently without homogenizing further imo. the main tank balance issue is that warrior doesn't have another class competing for it's off-tank slot, so it's just guaranteed. the same thing goes for scholar.
that said, if they make Samurai in attempt to compete with warrior they have to be very careful if they don't want the meta to just become WAR + SAM. not saying it'd really be a problem but they've got a lot of balancing work to do if that's the plan

Uh I haven't played PLD since pre Heavnsward but I'm pretty sure DRK beats it in that. DRK has unleash (a damage dealing flash pretty mauch) and abyssal drain which racks up enmity pretty damn quick.
The current design around tanks is awful. There should not be a physical defensive tank, a high DPS tank and an anti-magic tank.
All tanks should have roughly equal damage output and mitigation. The only difference between them should be their playstyles.

the problem is people without a full and proper idea (that sounds really condescending) of the *actual*, very real balancing issues, exaggerate them immensely.
PLD also still carries a bit of a stigma, particularly outside of the more hardcore raiding community, that it earned in the last raid tier. It was quite literally borderline unplayable for the final fight of Gordias, and was *very* subpar for a1s and a3s compared to DRK. The stigma just sorta carried over because people who maybe don't even realize WHY it was so bad in the first place, still think it's that bad.

warriors are great and super solid tanks for sure, i mt'd my way through all of arr on it and the one time i didn't was for like 3 t13 progression attempts until we decided it's best if i mt again and the pld goes ot. i know the reasons for that and all, yeah, but i'm glad it went down the way it did regardless. looking at warrior purely in regards to performance it's definitely in a perfect spot with enjoyable "weakness" to it that balances out its openers a bit, but if it was the meta mt instead i would be 100% happy with it.

I do an opener that is pretty standard and it's probably the rote opener for most people who don't take MCH that seriously.
Every so often I have had to stop my opener and let my wildfire go off like a deflated balloon because the tank couldn't hold aggro and if I kept doing my stuff they were probably never going to get it back till I died. Today it was on the second boss of Aetherochemical and I got murdered by the snake-form, and it also happened on Ymir in Hullbreaker Hard as well.

Most runs I usually get are just pretty standard rote and forgettable. I've just had a weird week where most of the runs have been kinda bad for one reason or another, but never so bad it takes an hour and implodes either so I count my blessings.

Warrior is only overpowered inasmuch as it has tools that are useful while off-tanking, instead of just while main-tanking, while both of the other tanks (particularly DRK) need to be actively getting hit to make use of the things that make them good.
Apart from that fact, WAR is maybe more versatile than the others (in that it doesn't specialize in magic or physical mitigation), but not actually more powerful. In particular, Warrior's mitigation is closely tied to, and usually in competition with, their DPS. A WAR MT that is doing as much DPS as a DRK MT will, in general, be mitigating much less effectively, and a WAR MT that mitigates as well as a DRK MT will be dealing substantially less DPS.
The reason that people don't run WAR/WAR is absolutely not because of the limit break - it's because WAR/WAR gives inferior performance to DRK/WAR outside of a tiny, tiny, tiny handful of very specific scenarios (basically, where Holmgang/Thrill are the only mitigation that tanks need).

Patience is a virtue sure, but I find that getting a shitty run isn't an end of the world scenario anyway. Though I tend to stay away from Trial Roulette because I find that's where most of the negativity hangs out.
Case in point, Level 50 roulette scored me a Copperbell Hard run with a new person and we speedran it flawlessly. It was all over quite quick.

So, it's pretty common for people getting in to healing to make "heal focus target" and "heal target's target" macro, and it helps quite a bit at first, but eventually I recommend just getting used to using the function keys. It's easy to tap them with your middle finger and macros have a small lag to them.
Alternatively, click in the party bar. You shouldn't be clicking your skills or anything anyway, so it works out fine to just click through names if your muscle memory is good.

High Demand; High Money Tier:
WVR : Makes mainly Crafter left side, with a few Gather pieces
LTW: Makes mainly Gatherer left side, with a few Crafter pieces
GSM: Makes The WVR main hand, a very popular crafting class, earring, and rings for both crafter and gather.
BSM: Makes pretty much 6 different crafter classes main hand and offhand on top of MIN/BTN, fairly good for minmaxer
Mid-tier; gets asked for craft fairly often, but nowhere near as often as God-tier
CRP: Makes fishing pole, neck, arm, for both crafter and gather
ALC: Makes the Fiber, and only the FIber
Shit tier
ARM: Makes the frying pan and alc wep, lol.
CuL: Seafood Stew HQ is still best in slot cooking food
