So I've set up my thaum furnaces/alembics with my AE2 system, and I'm realizing that while I can specifically automate making individual essentias, I can't include essentia requirements for making things with alchemy. Am I going to have to set up a huge level-emitter array to keep set amounts at all times or is there a better option?

>>
>>146727195
>it'd be upgradable machines.
I want a mod where upgrading machines makes logistics more complex and the machines much larger.

So say for ore processing, a 5 x or processing machine would require 3 or 4 additional ingredients and output the result as 2 or more things that need to be refined down through several machines to ingots.
And it would be 7*5*5 or something bigish.

Nah, there should be an actual compromise for having auto maintenance and I wanted to work with the multiblock system anon suggested.

>>146734058
Get this anon
Single maintenance blocks that can do a single basic function (i.e. replace water, restart engines) and can fit into any machine.
Multiblock maintenance blocks that have to be placed on the outside of another machine's frame that can do the more complex functions or multiple functions at once.
And the more complex machines having multiple things in need of maintenance for their component blocks, so you need either multiple simple block maintenance units or a complex maintenance machine attached to the outside.

I requested for the interior to have an idea of where the inner foundations would go. Never thought that it would be more confusing.

If it's an alpine lodge, go start with your fireplace and living room first. That should determine where your other rooms should go. (Don't light up the fireplace unless you know what you are doing.)

Googling for alpine lodges should also help a bit.

It's more magic than tech and at the very least it's magic themed. Because of the core mechanics of minecraft you could call any mod a tech mod because "This block does something using a resource".
More of a magic mod than shittania though.

>I can call a meteor to fall from the sky.
Okay, but not everyone wants meteor summoning from their magic mods. I can tear a hole in the fabric of reality to make a tunnel through almost any wall with focii.

>Your thaumcraft has 2x ore furnaces
???
It has one 'furnace' that does real smelting and 2 alchemical furnaces, which admittedly turns items into coloured RF-Juice if you want to get shitposty and make bad comparisons. Speak of bad comparisons, Ars Magica is a tech mod because mana is just blue RF that gets stored in a free battery pack :^)

>golems for guess what automation
Automation doesn't make something a tech mod or you might as well call minecraft a fundamentally tech game because redstone exists, therefore making all mods of it tech mods by relation.

>and nodes for guess what energy autism
This is a more valid point, an energized node is comparable to attaching a renewable energy to an RF furnace. But it's also a lot more complex than that, it's about as related to energy autism as Ars Magica dig spells are to a fucking mining laser.

Automated diesel generation is a good place to start. You'll need crops to supply a fermenter and seeds to supply a squeezer. Once you have reliable diesel power, you can build an excavator to "print" ores in random chunks.

Why? The price of rf/t seems fair for the amount of ores you get. Plus, it forces you to a) scout for ores outside of your base, b) find creative ways to route power to the machine and c) set up ore processing. I actually prefer it to a digital miner since it doesn't chew up the world around it.

I'm pretty sure both the rarity of veins and the amount of ores per vein is customizable via Modtweaker. I really think IE provides more opportunities for fun than it takes away.

You could easily just make it a rule for yourself that you'll only place excavators below the surface or even at some absurdly low depth like y10.

That sounds kinda fun, actually. I might just do that.

"Rewrite" of Baubles Minus Botania is underway to fix particles and f3 crash, since I have no idea how to solve the actual problem.
Before I start tearing things out again, is there anything else other than the baubles you guys want left in?

>>

Because I like creating systems like that.
I find games like factorio entertaining.

Then, when I have all my systems set up, I usually play with one of the more rpg-esque mods, like thaumcraft, or just build my base.
>>
>>146780304
you're right, factorio is fun. minecraft has no equivalent of that.
>>
>>146780419

No one mod can do it, no.
But with stuff like mekanism, immirsive engineering, and probably magneticraft, which I haven't actually played with, but looks basically like IE but more expansive, you can make big complicated autism factories.
Why do you think people use modpacks instead of singular mods?
>>
>>146780567
I've hated IE since the day it was announced. It's TE with multiblocks. No new concepts, no attempt to balance anything, just more ore duplication with RF.

The sign of a good mod is if you can take away all of its flashy graphics and put in a shitty textured block and still have fun with it. IC2 Classic still offers more depth than IE.

>>
>>146781146
>it is still good, and better, than these new mods.
I mean I loved IC2, and the tekkit classic days.
But IC2 wasn't anything special on its own.

Redpower, IC2, EE2, buildcraft, they all had this special way of just working together wasn't necessarily simple to do, and when you put them all together you could make something magical.

Frankly the problem with modern mods is the same problem that kills MMO communities, utility features.
They try to introduce simpler ways of finagling things, and over time the "magic" fades.
>>

They implement simpler things because FTB tells them to. Remember all the constant questions of how to do this or that? And people got mad at having to set up complex systems? Mods do everything and they do it easy. That's how you sell a modpack.

So people aren't allowed to make large scale builds, they're automatically focusing their build around their machines even if they don't plan on making any machines at all?
Do you even think about what you type before you mash the Post button?
>>
>>146783901
The two aren't mutually exclusive. Honestly, what's the difference between a 3x3x3 multiblock that does a thing and a 1x1x1 block that does a thing? The only thing that changes is the space you need to leave open to work with.

If anything, using multiblocks requires MORE creativity and planning.

my point is that you don't get to choose if you are going for a large build. It's a fun mod but people need to stop acting like it's the second coming.
>>
>>146785059
I find multiblocks neat because upgrades are physically represented (sometimes, like in TiCon) and because it's possible to have more in/outputs, limited by the size of your construction, whereas with a single block you have no more than six available faces, if that.
>>
>>146782173

Not him, but "multi-magic blocks" isn't necessarily an oxymoron. He means a pre-defined structure larger than a single block that behaves like a magic block.
>>
>>146785506
It's literally just different varieties of autism. The arguing is retarded, especially where there's absolutely nothing saying anyone has to use any mods at all.
>>
>>146786398
What kind of shit definition is that? By that same definition every single multiblock is a multi-magic block because their job could be done by a single block as well, from simple shit like vanilla's golems to IE's machinery, and even Thaumcraft Infusion Altars and Infernal Furnaces, Blood Magic's Altar, Witchery's Altar.

Oh I see what the problem is.

You're mad at the imaginary people in your head. The rest of us are just enjoying this little modification to this digital lego game. Literally no one thinks IE is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Everyone is too busy scrounging for iron to make this nonsense.

I just extracted the obvious from his post.

Regardless. FOR ME, a multiblock structure is "magic" when it does multiple or complex functions by design instead of doing something simple or being decomponible into simple parts.

So no, IMHO IE machinery is NOT magic, but let's see what >>146785846 says.
