How in the fuck do you beat the Kourakuen Arena? I have tried making so many demons and they all fall flat because they do not attack enough. I remember it being easier too, I've made it to the final demon before but failed to it, and now I cannot even get to the 3rd/4th demon without failing, and I have better demons fighting this time. This is the last Pillar I need too. Is there a list of demon combinations to make better demons or something? I'm feeling overwhelmed.

Personally, I've always found his fight to come down to luck after he gets into the second stage with Taunt and Andalucia spam. Most of the time he will kill all of my party in the first turn of that. I would assume he is much more manageable on Normal mode, of course. I think it's the only fight in the game I ever had trouble, too.

Basically, the biggest changes are in the UI, which was pretty clunky in the first game, specially when it comes to using the map. It had some cool gameplay changes, like critical strikes and being able to pass a demon's skills through fusion. SMT II is also much prettier. It is not a HUGE deal, but it's something to consider.
I didn't like the plot on the first game as much, but it has the best atmosphere in my opinion and is very much worth playing if you're into the series at all.

There was a lot of hype for it on release and it's good for one playthrough but compared to the others it gets REALLY grindy and the maps get to a point of "smash your armies together and if you EUGENIC'd well enough then you win"
Seriously I don't know how much you know about the plot of the game but there are certain characters whose stats and abilities you have a lot more control over and they can get REALLY fucking broken if you try, I had one of them get attacked by a boss and she dodged, then turned around and through a bunch of crazy abilities one-shotted the boss that same turn. And this was easily 2/3rds of the way through the game.
Also the plot is batshit retarded. Like Fire Emblem isn't known for its intricate plots but this one is even more absurd than usual. Your character is the ultimate Mary Sue and Chrom will straight up acknowledge that he's about to walk into a trap, then walk into a trap, multiple times.
It's not a bad game I guess, it's really good if you're new to the franchise and I had a lot of fun on a first playthrough so if you aren't familiar then go for it but otherwise I say just go to Fates. It's not a perfect game either (and the plot might be even stupider at times) but the gameplay is improved tenfold.

I played through Persona 4 a few years ago and hated it with a passion. Never again.
I like mainline SMT, though, for its grouping together of deities from various religions. I've heard Strange Journey is a fine classic, whereas SMTIV had numerous gameplay issues (overworld map, skill inheritance, etc.)
I'm waiting for SMTIV:A to land stateside in September because it was received rather well over there.

SMT3 is a bit more Japanese-y with things like Kagutsuchi.
SMTSJ's theme is hokey environmental mother goddess type shit with some good ol' Mastema thrown in.
SMT4 plays a good middleground between 1 and 3 with some Japanese deities but the main sides being Lucifer and Angels.
