Alright, for the sticklers who can't seem to into openbeta, I've created a 'starter pack', that includes the TrackIR fix for OB 1.5.4, along with batch files to facilitate easy switching.
The TrackIR fix assumes you're using JSGME. If you aren't, just copy the Config folder from the _MODS/TRACKIR Fix folder and copy to your main directory AFTER updating.

What does Oculus Rift have to do with anything? The patch adds a ton of awesome Mirage stuff and fixes a bunch of MiG-21 stuff.
This patch has actually been the tipping point for me with the Mirage in terms of being "done enough" to not feel like it's unfinished and barely working right.

If anyone's still having problems with tankers going sanic when you go to contact, I think it's because they fly a set speed for that regardless of the tanker waypoint speed. So, if you set the tanker waypoint speed to the contact speed (it appears to be around 725 km/h) there shouldn't be any drastic speed changes.

Ops last night were pretty based. Now I understand why the US developed the A-10 and AH-64. Without them stopping an all out Soviet armored rush is probably impossible.
What are the best match ups for PvP ops?
MiG-21 has no fair opponent, so I think F-15(with AIM7s) and Mirages would work if the 21s had a number advantage.
Mirage vs Fulcrum-A would be fun, especially once 1.5.4 is stable.
I really want to try my PvP ops idea. Like, Fishbeds escorting Grachs, intercepted by Mirages.
Or Eagles escorting Warthogs, intercepted by Fishbeds or Fulcrums.
I'd rather avoid FC3, but there's just not enough full fidelity modules, and we all love the Fulcrum and Grach anyway.

A-10 isn't hard to fly, it's all the systems you have to learn that makes it difficult. Even then it isn't that difficult if you have autism-level interest in the A-10.

It's fun if you have the desire to fly IRL or at least wish you could be a footer pilote. The curve is pretty high if you've never done sim stuff before, but it's f2p so there's no reason not to at least try.
Also you NEED a joystick to have fun, you can play without but you won't have very much fun trying to awkwardly fly around with keys.

Also you don't pay up front for a pilot's license, you pay per flight, at least at my school. So you just fly when you have the time, and when you can afford it. It's not like the hours in your logbook expire.

I always attempt to get into BFM range when in DCS MP for two reasons, the Mirage stomps F-15's in WVR and it's a lot funner going in for guns.
Granted most of the time I run out of ammo+low on fuel then get shot down by a F-15 and his trusty AMRAAM while RTB'ing
Is the AiM-120 that great? Or is it just a case of nothing that can beat it in DCS being implemented?
My experience in Jane's Fleet Command is that it's unending frustration: the AAM. It's not long-legged enough to snipe all the enemies it faces from afar, meaning you almost always run the risk that you're shooting an SU-33 and that he's going to fire back at you and leave the score at 1:1, or if the RNG hates you, 0:1. Even against undefended bombers, they can fire their AShMs long before your fighters can intercept them with 120s. On the other hand, it does beat an AiM-9 or R-530 [although to some extent this is down to the fact dogfighting is basically non-existent in JFC and fighters behave funny when too close to their targets.]
Now the Phoenix, on the other hand, is a godsend for ship defence, and pretty good at sniping fighters from a position where they can't fight back at all.

Are there any BMS servers where people just sort of mess around instead of doing serious missions?
i.e. ad-hoc dogfights between F-16s, people just taking off and landing for fun or flying around the map, etc. Sort of like training servers but not quite so serious.
