This game attracted a lot of the MOBA people, which is a pretty well known cesspool. TF2 was never super popular like league and even when it went F2P, I guess the existing community was big enough to keep the assholes in check.
The game modes in TF2 also helped in that a lot of people said fuck it to the objective and just dicked around. With servers you also tended to run into the same people.

In games like Q3, UT and stuff like that, to be honest in most of the game its in theory better to use Higher Sensitivity, just becasue you can move your mouse faster, and your hand/writst less. But it might be harder for some people to get used to tracking aiming precisely with higher sens. Myself, I use 400dpi, 6in game. its 60~ something /360.
Play around with settings, dont be THAT guy who uses settings becasue other people use settings like that, toy with it, same with xhair, some people including myself play on a simple dot, just because got used to it from other games, some people play on a cross, just because CS and other games. Like I said, I myself use 60something cm /360 thats VERY low. 4:3 is not a meme or anything, they used to play on old CRT screens with 4:3 and shit resolution, so they are used to it. Plus in games like CS, ET and stuff if you had lower resolution the hitboxes were actually a bit bigger.
