just explore with skills and do what seems fun, quests are generally decently rewarding and if you need goals maybe go for all medium achievement diaries completed or something.

quests offer extremely useful rewards and its recommended to get through as many of them as possible and as early as possible for the maximum gains in terms of skill levels. Also the same goes for achievement diaries but they are a bit harder so you'll be doing that farther down the road

quest fights are easier than you expect. I did most of the bosses around 70-80 cmb. I was scared as fuck because they were instanced so if you died you lost everything but they always turned out to be way easier than made out.
Only quest I have left is mm2 and I'm actually nervous about glough because I hear he wrecks maxed cmb people and I'm only 85.

rune is pretty fuggen legit armor, it can keep you going strong for a long ass time
eventually you'll replace the helmet with a helmet of neitznot, the chest with a fighter torso, and the legs with dragon pl8legs, but its not an immediate concern since you're so low level
with regards to the monkey madness quest, just take it slow and be careful and you'll be fine

defence is never really a priority, you only level it when you need it to be higher for something you want to wear
in particular you'll need 55 for the helm of neitz (from a quest, frem isles) and 60 for dragon platelegs, but if you are far off them either of them dont worry about it
right now you should be using a dragon scimitar. train your strength and (this is really just habit, not anything scientific) keep it ~5 levels higher than your attack as much as you can. Str is more important than attack.
