The type that wants to win or fight battles larger than 100 v 100 skirmishes, if the commander needs to personally participate in the battle to achieve victory then either his soldiers are completely incompetent, he's a demigod, or he's already been mired in a horrid situation.
Also, commanders on horseback act as elite heavy cavalry, there's literally no reason to need to become a common foot soldier unless you're really good at fighting on foot but not on horseback
At that point you may as well take off your armor, what skirmisher would respect a commander who wears heavy armor amirite

The game is clearly designed to be played on a mount, in larger battles. I don't know how this can be fixed without simply making the maps smaller - but that's restrictive as fuck.

Just like real life, people are slower than horses and often can't get to important positions in time

Keep formation, pack yourself tight, if you're all scattered as infantry you'll be obliterated that's how cav works.
Keep your spear up
Keep your shield up
Be in a dense formation to lock them down
DON'T be in the first row since you'll take a lance to the face anyway

You could be fucking terrible at fighting, easily onehit by light cav, but just sit slightly towards the back and keep the command screen up

Thats one thing i like about some mods, you ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS have a few bodyguards. Nothing sucks more than being a support character and taking a quest or doing something thats all you.

Some mods also include spear bracing for infantry. If you use it correctly it does cause a massive headache for cavalry.

Also, experiment with formations. Having a thin screening line of infantry with the main mass behind them in a three lined or deeper formation is pretty good for isolating those cavalry charging you once their formation falls apart.

Thats because in native you only need 3 power strike and overpowered gear.

Thats one thing i like about native, So much is based on your equipment. It seems realistic, a rich scrub with all the best gear can just roll a bunch of peasants no problem. Heavy armor really did make you almost impervious to ranged attack.

Some mods i feel like i get all geared up but then someone hits me with a one handed sword and there goes half my hitpoints.

When in camp mode, you can recruit tribesmen from them if their owner likes you, or if you got the cash, you can pay to have the horde join your faction and patrol your fiefs

Are guns even worth it in gekokujo on player characters?

I get that they're supposed to be the skillpoint-efficient variant of bows, but aren't they pretty shit for a player character who can just drop some points in power draw if he really wants to shoot stuff?

They reload very slowly and the damage is also not really worth it tbqh.

Bows are obviously way better, they can be just as accurate and damaging as a gun while being like, 4-5 times as fast

The only time I use guns is on ashigaru ranged because even though they're as innacurate as bow ashigaru, at least they might kill if they hit

Then if I'm a high roller, I mix my ranged with Otomo/Oda sharpshooters and Chosokabe Bow heroes, this mix will obliterate anything that comes at you

I never heard of it before, i saw it had tits. As a gigantic degenerate AND an avid video game player, i am often upset that typically h-'games' are basically either choose your own adventure novels or slightly interactive virtual 'toys'. The only exceptions i ever found was VH and that one roguelike thats too complicated for me to figure out and looks like its kind of a crappy game anyway.

Then this came along. I can retake the holy land and spend hours and hours playing a totaly normal video game experience, and then occasionally you enter a tavern and BAM, tits. Also rape dungeons etc.

More games need to have this combination, be legitimate games with depravity thrown in on the side only for seasoning and atmosphere.

This is a masterpiece that can only come from an old depressed russian. Thats three times the world fucked you there. We all get fucked as we age, and being mentally ill is a second fucking, but being born a russian, is like you are meant to suffer.

For others with willing ears and eyes to match, it can be a novel take on the values and motivations surrounding the genre.

Hold position doesn't actually make them do anything besides sit still, it doesn't make them form up or hold a formation once in melee.

Permanent, when you fight an army there's little buttons that appear on the side
The five below your army list change the entire map layout since they basically have one and only one map they're used on, but they can be disadvantageous depending on your army composition.

Battle XP is fast once you start fighting and winning battles. Losing a battle completely erases both adventure XP and battle XP.

Each battle is 100 and you can get an extra 200 each time at victory.
Also no, the ones at the bottom are terrain changers which will swap the map. If you fail it, you can't retreat or duel anymore and if you duel, you can't retreat or choose those tactics
The ones below the enemy (confuse / supply lines) are the same.
Side attack and whatnot are in-battle mods that don't change the terrain itself.
Pretty sure Strategy increases troops HP per point.

Pirate. I started a new game and am using all i know to get a good start. Im currently level 23 with 40 int, 1 policy already unlocked and getting 200 policy exp per tic. Gonna work on getting 40 charisma next. 300 archery from bandit farming at the bandit farm. Only on day 51.

Also got my bodyguards outfitted with high quality spears from killing bandits on the ocean.

Soon as i get my charisma to 40 ill work on being a merc i guess, i still cant decide which faction to try and join. Naval combat is overpowered if you start as a pirate. Ive tried jerusalem before but its always fighting inland, i really need to get into fights with things that have to cross water to flex my muscle.

I used to have 3-4 companions do my int stuff, but then I just got 4 riding from the start and went int, using first aid to keep the behemoths in battle every time. Having a bunch of immortal cav running around the battlefield while your infantry holds the line and crossbows destroy everything. I hate normal cav because they never stay alive.

Viking Conquest did something similar with Refuges, you can barely upgradethem and their only real use is for you to store troops in it.

Prevailing philosophical/ethical beliefs in that time WERE confucianism as far as I know, even if it isn't quite as religion-y as one might except. Otherwise there's Buddhism or Taoism.

Well then no matter what you put it at it's going to be weird, I suppose. To my limited knowledge nothing that qualifies as a 'real religion' existed in such a great number as to replace Confucianism in the game and not feel off and "chinese paganism" doesn't seem very fair.

Although I personally think Confucianism fits just fine. Mandate of Heaven exists under Confucianism, and that's pretty religious-y, and other metaphysical beliefs do exist under it.

OTOH I don't know much about this area and history, so I could be retarded. Is it really that incorrect as it is?

Confucianism is literally a guide on how to be a decent person and specifically how to be a responsible, scholarly person ready to learn from those superior to him and those inferior to him.
It wouldn't specifically have a malus towards anyone because it's simply not a religion any more than Plato or Aristotle defined a religion. The Mandate of Heaven was something that arose out of the pagan ancestor-worship thing - China's Heaven was literally just a far larger and high-powered China of which the Earth was a province of sorts, and the Emperor (son of Heaven) was a semi-divine being who was governor of the province until his term was up and he reported back the Emperor (read: died), and the idea that the people could remove him came from the idea that if he fucked up the signs would be apparent in the state of the nation in general since his job literally is the nation itself, not just governing it.
