You'll have to check the armor in TES5Edit and see if it has a "Material" keyword that matches one of the smithing perks. (like MaterialSteel, MaterialElven, etc.)

well the issue is that most vanilla armors use flesh base models. Someone once made a playable skeleton race, which basically replaces the human race with a skeleton mesh, but the problem with THAT (aside from a TON of first-person issues and other weird conflicts) was that when you put on armor it would make flesh appear, because only a few robes were made for skeleton meshes.
The way I got around this was using UndeadFX's scripted shader, but it would be both buggy (Ak'Chazar turning into a normal eyeless mouthless khajiit whenever it snowed or when struck by lightning) and difficult (needing me to basically learn how to script in these complex shaders myself)
I could make a ReanimateFX-dependant version, but the mod is CRAZY script heavy

How would you feel if TES VI had some gameplay elements from Fallout 4? I think we all agree that the dialogue wheel/voiced MC was a bad idea, and even Todd said it wasn't very good in hindsight. I'm thinking more about settlements, improved weapon modification, and toning down leveled content.
There isn't much sense lorewise for a settlement mechanic in a decidedly non-post-apocalyptic world other than the player character being overcome with a sense of "shit, let's be mayor". It is a rather fun mechanic though, and could be used to expand upon Hearthfire's home customization mechanics. Instead of just going through a menu to build all your furniture, you could pick and choose what you want and where you want it.
Another thing is the leveled content. In Skyrim, enemies tend to level with you. No matter where you go, the leveling is pretty much the same. In F4, enemies become more dangerous the further you are from the starting area. While there is nothing physically preventing the player from going to those areas (aside from the radiation in the Glowing Sea, but that's nothing power armor and some RadAways can't take care of), players will have to use caution. I think this could give the game world a bit more variety.
While both games have leveled loot, in Skyrim unique loot levels with you. In F4, unique loot is unleveled, but usually becomes weaker as time goes on unless you upgrade it. I think Skyrim's approach makes unique items you find early on worthless later, while F4's approach allows them to stay relevant as the game goes on.
Speaking of upgrades, TES could learn a thing or two from F4's crafting benches. Skyrim's crafting system is simply a matter of "improve damage, rename item, slap an enchantment on it". F4's crafting system allows for you to modify every detail of your weapons. Admittedly, F4's melee weapons tend to get the short end of the stick compared to guns, but that doesn't mean there isn't a lot of potential for customizing TES weapons.

Let me explain. There are some unique items, like Mercer Frey's sword, that have stronger variants at higher levels when you acquire them first. The problem with this is that the sword becomes very weak if you acquire them early on, because there's no way to upgrade it to the better versions or acquire a new one. In Fallout 4, they don't do this. They are the same quality no matter what level you get them at. But they become relatively worse as you face tougher challenges. You can use the weapon upgrade system to make them better if you want to use it later on.

Fallout 4's building mechanics were a neat little Lego set that was given far too much attention both in the base game and in DLC. I don't know a single person who built more than one settlement, because they'd invest several hours into their first one, then look at the others and do the bare minimum of shitting beds/water/food everywhere for faggot settlers.

It was several threads ago, but I wrote up one or two shitty lines about how Yarti's promiscuity is diversion and not based off affection but entertainment. Life is skyrim can be hard, but elf lives are long, and its something to do. She meets Snakestone and develops an admiration and respect for him. She doesn't stop sleeping around though, its just sex and precious little to do with love and I never went so far as to say that's whats going on between the two characters, but it is something greater than diversion. The "OTP" was a unique romance between two adventurers who had come to enjoy one another company. That's all. Somehow, it became cancer. That's not what I intended.
