Because in FO3 NV he was a Tank and could fight and kill your enemies while you were still trying to decide which weapon to equip.

That was fixed in FO4 by making your Companions weakso they could help fight until you got good and they became unnecessary.

Todd said at E3 that Beth has a couple other projects on the agenda before their next TES game. So that puts the next TES at 2019 or 2020. Fallout would logically be a couple years after that, at 2022 or after.

Ergo, Obsidian or someone else will make another Fallout in the meanwhile, which will extend the F4 life cycle until F5, similar to what NV did.

Settlement Attacks Beyond

There's several settlements where the enemy spawn is linked to the fast travel marker. Also for LARGE settlements like sanctuary and spectacle island, the enemies can spawn a set distance from the workshop bench, which can be inside your walls. It's something like 150 meters.

I am now imagining a mortar that loads you into power armor and then fires you to another settlement, only to have you land there like a badass.

Hell, they could even do things like have a random chance of misfire to have you end up someplace else surrounded, OR you could get pods so you can parachute slowly which will give you some time to fire from above if there are enemies in the area.

90% of what I install is just mesh/texture replacements, and most of the rest is fixes or minor tweaks

plasma for guards, auto-shotguns for scavvers, farmers get whatever I looted and didn't scrap, traders get thematic gear. everyone gets molotovs. Might give the occasional guard a minigun, flamer or plasmacaster. one guard per settlement gets a scoped rifle and a crows nest to sit in.

all dogs get heavy armor.

Every settler gets a nice suit but my traders get hats, I make a point to give my doctors a labcoat.

I gave my sanctuary settlers grenades once. Was attacked by molerats which dug their way past the walls and popped out in the middle of the farms. That was a mess.

I make sure to give the first settler a special hat or bandana or something to denote that they're the "mayor" settler since they're the one which is going to be giving out minutemen quests and don't want to be chasing down the provisioner to hand in a quest.

Weapon:
Institute rifle. I throw relay grenades around a lot so I actually have enough of those rifles kicking around for my settlers regardless.
Armour:
Synth. Men get full plate Nano filament, women get carbon filbre (it's a mod that allows you to mod in the black synth armour) full plate with a light chest.
