It triggers relatively fast already.
If they were to add some sort of scaling to it, possibly DEX or someshit, to make the damage of even 3 or 4 ticks noticeable it'd be fine if it forces them to use moss. An extra 100-200 damage over the course of a duel are already enough to make a difference in the worst case.

We also have practically no poison weapons.
We have 2 dex-based spears with poison, one dex based curved sword, a dex-based whip and a fucking dagger. That's it
Poison is exclusively tied to dex weapons and there's only 4 of them in the whole game. Of the 4, only the Ghru Spear is actually even usable in pvp. The rest are penalized so heavily for having poison that they might as well not even be weapons.
It's a far cry from DaS2 where you had shit like a pure strength lance/greathammer hybrid that could apply poison via multihit attacks and virtually every build had access to their own unique array of status effect weapons.

Off the top of my head (Keep in mind scaling benefits also scale off base AR):
Buff benefits of A/S scaling for all weapons.
Lower Dark Sword, Anri's SS, Lothric Knight Sword, and Gotthard's base AR by about 20 each.
Add 20 base damage to the Butcher's Knife, add hyperarmor to its uncharged R2s.
Speed up other axes to be on par with straight swords in speed or slightly slower depending on the size of axe.
Add brief hyperarmor frames for all hammer attacks and not just charged R2s.
Remove physical damage/scaling on the MLGS entirely, add 20 more base magic damage to it and increase its magic scaling to A/S.
Change Greatsword of Judgment magic damage to Dark, make it's INT/FAI scaling C/C at max. Increase length of its self-buff to 60 seconds. Also change it 2HR1s to the Hollowslayer/Drakeblood Dark Souls 2 greatsword attack.
Change Dancer's Swords magic damage to Dark. Buff base elemental damage by 20 each.
Buff FUGS base damage by 20. Make its 2H moveset along with the Cathedral UGS' unparryable.
Increase Bloodlust's WA bonus and length by 30% and up to 60 seconds.
Increase physical faith scaling from Saint Bident to S.
Fix the issue where 2H Greataxe attacks randomly don't get a 2hit combo.
Change WA of Smough's Hammer to Charge.
Increase AR of Whip by 40 so 40/40 Spotted Whip doesn't completely outclass it. Increase Poison damage of Spotted Whip to compensante.
Reduce wind-up frames of whip and fist start up attacks by 1-2 seconds. Make it so that charged whip R2s actually deal more damage.
Slightly reduce wind-up on Great Hammer R2s, UGS running attacks. Increase hitbox of some Greataxe rolling attacks to fit the actual weapon like with the BKGA.
Lower stamina consumption of BKGA attacks by 5.
Increase stamina/FP costs of repeated use of quickstep WA by 10-20% after each use to prevent spamming it.
Buff Frostbite to last up to 30 seconds and have a more noticeable stamina/speed loss and for weapons with it to proc more.

Butcher's Knife has the highest damage and longest reach but shitty R2s, excessively high stamina costs and a bad WA
Manserpent Hatchet has the exact same stats, same base damage and scaling as the battleaxe, but almost twice the reach. It's the best normal axe. It has the shotel effect with its R2s, but the shield-piercing only penetrates with like 30% of the attack's damage and the R2s are too slow to actually use against a shield.
Dragonslayer's Axe is the twink's wet dream. High Base damage and buffable with lightning split damage. There's no reason to infuse it with anything other than raw. Faith builds can buff it with lightning blade and everyone else can just pop a pine resin or bundle (bundles are super good) to do ungodly damage.
Honorable mention to the Winged Knight Twinaxes. Their L1s do more damage than most ultra weapons but their range is abysmal. Very gimmicky.

Even with base ATT on a Warrior starting class you can still just quickstep constantly against anyone using anything slower then a Greatsword plenty of times getting hits in with a Bandit's Knife or whatever unless you play super passively to draw their FP out. It is more of an anti-cheese idea I admit though so that's definitely on my low list of wanted nerfs. If nothing else I just want my buff ideas or anymore buffs to through, it's nice seeing people use 2kat/Claws more now so it'd be nice to see that with more weapons.

Using Great Weapons in most fights, especially late game ones is just torture. I remember fighting Champion Gundyr my first run with a UGS and spamming rolling attacks was the only way I could reasonably deal damage without getting staggered because lol hyperarmor against bosses.
Then I switched to a straight sword in NG+ and it was pathetic how much more damage you can do AND how you can stun most bosses with your added hits. They made the games PvE on Bloodborne paced without adjusting the weapons to compensate.

DaS3 is super easy and has no replayability, so challenge runners are dead, and its pvp is a joke so competition is dead.
The only reason DaS2 ever had life on twitch was because the arena gave tryharding some legitimacy, and a quick way to find one another for relatively consistently decent fights. Pontiff's is like the bridge in 2 in that it's 99% the bottom-tier players too awful to invade so 99% of fights are awful, too. The lack of an arena literally makes it impossible to make a successful stream off of dueling alone, and dueling is the only form of pvp that's "competitive" in the spectator sport sense of the word

You just cannot realiably punish rolls with sorcery, even with flashsword spamming.
You can mix up, yes,but against katanas,spears or anything with a fast running r1 will dismantleyour game pretty quicky.
I mean, soulmass can be sidestepped for Pete's sake, affinity is the most easy dodge ever, for every 1 good spell there are 5 worst.

Well alright I'll be honest.
* Demon's Souls had level design that was too long winded. Ranged combat legitimately broke the game because some enemies would flat out never aggro on you if you did. There's other mechanics they improved on in later titles and it's definitely deserving of a remake because of how aged it feels.
* Dark Souls 1 fixed the long-winded level design of Demon's Souls by interconnecting areas. However my enjoyment for the game plummeted when I fought Gaping Dragon and then later after defeating Ornstein and Smough. They really didn't compensate for how strong a character would be after level 60.
* Dark Souls 2 had a good balance, you could choose from 4 different paths at the start of the game, though they all led to the same destination. Level design got simpler and shorter for sure, and you could say the same about bosses - but I felt equally challenged against regular enemies as I did against bosses. The late game worked perfectly with how strong your character got and the DLCs added to the experience. My only dislike was for despawning enemies which was later patched out anyway.
* Dark Souls 3 feels like a combination of Dark Souls 1 and Dark Souls 2, however progressing through the game is so fucking linear. Major areas don't loop back around and you're forced in one set path with the occasional dead end.

The trick to punishing rolls is to time running r1's with FFS. Most people don't even realize that FFS has multiple different attacks - it has a different r1 for standing, rolling, and running. It's not any harder than punishing rolls with a straight sword.
Fast running r1's are a matter of spacing and prediction. If they roll forward to follow up the whiff, FFS. If they roll to the side, SGS. If they roll back, charge up a soulmass or a soul arrow to keep up the pressure. If you know your soulmasses will fire, you can start casting a new soulmass and if you time it right you'll volley two soulmasses one after another, which is great for catching rolls. I'm talking regular soulmass, not Crystal or Affinity - don't use them, the cast time is too long for how easy they're dodged.
