Of course for a short period of time Rurik and his associates dominated the path upon which the newly established state developed, but it wasn't a copy-pasted viking state that was simply established in eastern Europe, it was even in the beginning by and large a east slavic state.

Yeah, the Norman conquest of England would be cool, but it might be better suited as a mod specifically focused on the event. Hey guys, I just recently picked this game up. I'm pretty disappointed after all the hype I've heard about the game, but I'm pretty sure there's got to be a mod that fixes my major grievances:
1) Gets rid of the "rpg" elements:
I don't think the "levels" stuff is particularly realistic. Stats and levels should be more or less average across the board for everyone, with some minor variance. This stuff about troops being able to take more hits and deal more damage because they're 20 "levels" higher than you doesn't have any basis in reality, getting stabbed is getting stabbed, what should mostly affect that is armor. Insofar as proper representation of experience is concerned, it should come from morale boosts, etc. Also, is there anything that gets rid of many of the skills whose only function is to artificially extend gameplay length without making it particularly more challenging or complex? I'm thinking of skills like "athletics" or "leadership", the latter of which should be standardized according to reputation or rank, for example.
2) Changes the "gameplay" aspect so that 1) overhauls the game so that I don't have to do a bunch of poorly-written and inconsequential quests before I have enough money and power to have a decently sized company of men at my command? It's another one of these things that isn't very realistic and just exists to pad out the gameplay. I'm thinking maybe mods with "freelancer"? Because that's a more realistic and fun way of character progression? Or maybe a mod that makes the economy somewhat believable and not completely tedious?
3) Improves the combat and fighting mechanics:
I don't get why people like the combat in the game as is, it's awful. Troops don't behave in any remotely realistic way, they don't maintain formations, the ai just throws enemies at you. Is there an AI mod that makes fights look like actual medieval battles, like the ones in a Total War game?
