Why cannot I assign naval invasions as nippon?

First I had 7 units on invasion and I tried adding 3 more but the game wouldn't let me so I deleted the order and made a new one. Now I can't assign even a single unit on the naval invasions order and for bonus my bootcamp graduated units refuse to leave mainland Japan.
>>
>>145858703
Ye I think that is probably the best strategy with navy.

I think with Sweden you get the biggest benefit by boosting your destroyers with your experience.

>>145859058
10 division limit at the start of the game for naval invasions. Maybe you have another invasion going that takes up the capacity.

need to just release this shit and let people complain about everything that's wrong. have fun.

as an FYI Baltic Countries aren't accounted for at all. if they are independent the annex events will just annex them anyway. I'm not sure what to do with them if the SU doesn't annex them first.

Surrender requirements are hold leningrad/moscow/stalingrad/baku/sverdlovsk. average of 30 days the surrender event will fire. 85% chance the ai surrenders.

There's some additional national focus' in the german tree on the far right.
The name sucks i know.

it's not compatible with that ai production/research mod since for some reason that mod also affects the german national focus tree

Hy /gsg/ HoI4 scrub here hoping to get some advice. Started my first game as Italy after watching a couple of turns on you tube to get some ideas on the basics.

>Immediately took out Yugoslavia
>Formed own faction
>Bum-rushed France in 1937, UK joined yada yada
>Ignored UK and basically just let them rape my navy, wasn't really sure how to handle that.
>Took out greece, then turkey whom I used to pour into ME
>Cleaned bongs out of africa
>Japan, Bulgaria, Hungary join my faction

Now I feel like I'm stuck have no clue how to handle the UK. My navy is in shambles so naval invasions aren't likely. Japan declared war on the Netherlands and is now getting their shit kicked in, so now I have no good source of rubber, making spamming airplanes difficult.

Germany teamed up with Spain and though it would be smart to invite Finland to join them. Now they are stuck in a war with the USSR and it seems unlikely they'll be helping any time soon.

How do I handle the UK? Right now I have half my forces just sitting in northern franc, pushing back the constant Allies incursions.

pic related is my map

Alright, can we put the memes aside for a moment and all agree that, for what it set out to do, HoI4 is a success? It gave us a WWII grandstrat free from all the archaic bullshit of Darkest Hour, and also much easier to get into than HoI3. Can anyone here honestly say they enjoy wasting an hour to fix their OoB every time they start a game of HoI3? Not to mention that, rather than needing to tediously micromanage industry like in other HoI games, HoI4's industry is both streamlined as well as more intuitive than the previous games. Yeah, it's true that HoI4 leads to more "ahistorical" scenarios, but isn't that the point? Why even bother playing the game if the outcome is predetermined form the start? Moreover, from a pure gameplay perspective, giving the player more options, whether they be historical or ahistorical, is a total success. Sure, Mosley ruling Britain never could have happened in reality, but it's fun to have the ability to easily do so in video game form.

Overall, I feel that HoI4 is getting a lot of undeserved hate simply because it isn't a total copy of HoI3 with slightly better graphics. Of COURSE the game is different - HoI3 already exists, there would be no point to making the same game again! HoI4 may be different, but that's by design, not by some unforeseen flaw, and it should be celebrated for the changes it made, not hated on.

To be fair, he had no chance whatsoever in leading Britain after 1931, the New Party and the British Union of Fascists were the two worst mistakes he ever made, and by the time of his death even he recognised it
>>
>>145862050
Well it's pretty much impossible to topple UK without a proper naval invasion. You can strike with paratroopers but they won't hold for long without reinforcements.

So your ultimate goal should be at least temporary naval superiority in the channel to get your troops across.

My strategy would be to aim my invasion somewhere in the region of 1945. Start focusing on your navy right now, researching at least destroyers and either carriers of battleships to the best you can get them at the moment.

While your navy is constructing turn your military factories towards fighters, naval bombers and if you are confident you can take them in the air also strategic bombers.

Once you have enough air start weakening their navy in the channel area with naval bombers which are quite effective.

In the meantime launch a land invasion to Brittish Raj to secure more resources (rubber) either with a small naval invasion from the Horn of Africa or trough Iran with either access or war.

Build up for few years and invade with Marines leading the way with Paratrooper support.

I have 38 dockyards which have just been working on those 2 BBs since the start of the game. Should I just be building more BBs or destroyers also? I remember BB/Destroyers or Carriers/Cruisers were the best combo in HoI3 right?

Also if I'm not asking too much how do I utilize subs correctly? Do I still want to split them up into small packs of 3/4 and just set them to partol?

There was no way the war was going to be avoided, and the growth of parties like the KPD and NSDAP were reliant on a the Proportional system the German Parliament used, allowing smaller parties to gain representation, the British Union of Fascists never challenged a General Election, was in decline by 1936, and had no chance of making a breakthrough under the First Past the Post System which the House of Commons still uses to this day.

Mosley still perhaps had a chance in 1931, even after the collapse of the New Party both Labour and the Conservatives opened channels offering him their candidacy in upcoming by elections, his standing was damaged but no irreparable. The British Union of Fascists however was the final nail in the coffin, Mosley's respectable political allies deserted him (Forgan, Strachey, MacMillan, Bevan, Maxton, Dudgeon, etc) and left him in the wilderness with only a small group of former CPGB and Conservative members following him, with the worst comign to worst when a merger was agreed with the British Fascisti, allowing William Joyce, and Neil Francis Hawkins to take major roles in the party. It's simply delusional to believe Mosley had any chance of success post-resignation.

Not to mention there was no chance of Mosley leading a collaborationist government during the war either.

First of January of 1936, after the celebration of the New Years, the government of the German Empire readies itself for another year full of doubt. An economic crisis is looming, the syndicalist countries of the West prepare themselves for an eventual war, and the influence of the Empire on the world at large is seemingly crumbling under its own weight.

Forgot to mention that put your civilian factories building more naval dockyards.

I think Carriers are honestly pretty OP and avoid using them too much for RP reasons myself. If you just want to win then build Carriers and probably just bunch of destroyers. I like to win in style so I use mixed fleets myself.

But ye continue on the battleships and ass you gain more production capacity add more destroyers and cruisers into the mix. A full 15 docks can produce more than 12 destroyers a year easily so you can afford to start more heavily on the BB's first.
As for the ships yes destroyers are very important both to counter the British air and also deal with their submarine harass. They are also nice for screening for your capital ships.

As for subs it's really up to what you want to achieve. Smaller stacks can deny more territory but larger stacks let trough less convoys in the areas you decide to occupy. Large stacks can sometimes even fight off small anti sub navies if you have the sub focused naval doctrines but that is secondary benefit really.

I would recommend placing large stacks of submarines on the main import routes like the Horn of Africa or the western approach. Smaller stacks to the other routes you might see them or other enemies using.
The closer you post them the more likely it is for the UK to come in and fuck your shit up though so balance the distance with the numbers you can afford to lose. Also use the convoy raiding with subs, you want them to focus on finding convoys and avoiding other battles.

Generally speaking though UK has so many convoys that unless you dedicate massively into harassing the trade you will never bother them too much. Just focus on surface ships instead and cut or minimize sub production for now.

Because the United Kingdom and Italy had too entirely different political systems? Because the political climates in Britain and Italy were entirely different?

There's no evidence to suggest Edward VIII was sympathetic to Mosley, yes the man was sympathetic to Hitler and his work in Germany, but that itself does not prove he supported the former Socialist Mosley. Not to mention Edward VIII had abdicated in 1936, and George VI was a rather apolitical king, the monarchy as an institution was not sympathetic to Mosley, I don't know where this nonsense you're spouting is from.

The British Union of Fascists would never have been able to secure a majority in the House of Commons, George VI would never have appointed Mosley as Prime Minister, and if such an event had occurred there would be a major political crisis, Mosley was on the political fringes by 1932 and had no way to return, just look at his failed postwar attempts to recover.

Mosley also specifically wanted to work within the law, so an event like the March on Rome was nigh on impossible, just because a Italian monarch appointed a Fascist Prime Minister; does not mean a British monarch would appoint a Fascist Prime Minister ignoring all other circumstance.

The first decision for the Emperor and his cabinet come in. The shaping of the future Kriegsmarine is a hotly debated issue throughout the whole political sphere of the Kaiserreich. Its expansion would surely anger the liberals, who wish for more pacifist means to keep the Empire in toe, but the conservatives and the high aristocracy defend its expansion to new heights. What stand shall the emperor take?

I'm just asking because I have about 52 subs in one big stack patrolling the Mediterranean right now. Is 5 a stack enough to raid convoys effectively? I was going to split them into groups of 5/10 and spread them out that way.

Also dumb question, is their any benefit to using generals over field marshals? Or is it better to have all my troops organized under field marshals if I can?

What ever you do get the subs out from Mediterranean and put them into places where the enemy actually sends convoys.

No practical difference between field marshals and generals besides the unit cap. Pretty sure generals gain experience faster though so you might want to put your elite units or smaller task forces under generals and keep units that don't matter so much under field marshal.
This way you can use the better leveled and traited general just where you need him.

Sweden, Turkey, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico are all decent options. Start out relatively unalligned and safe and can very easily go towards any of the factions.
At the same time they are all small enough so what ever you do you can concentrate while letting the bigger countries do the mainline fighting.

Yugoslavia, Siam, Canada and Netherlands are similar but in more difficult situations or with less options

Minors like Ireland can be confy but you are very limited on what you can achieve.

To the aristocracy's unpleasant surprise, the Kaiser is also of the belief that the Kriegsmarine does not require a full blown plan of expansion, but would rather benefit from a slow and steady increase of its strength. Benefits which would also lead to the economic well-being of the Reich for the next few years. The Kaiser announced his decision to the Riechstag and the small section dedicated to the liberals cheered for minutes on end while a tense silence reigned in the rest of the parliament.

Alright goys, I'm done with the Greek flavour mod.
Reminder that this is far from complete and I still have some stuff to add in:

Changelog for version 0.1:
1) Made Alexandros Papagos a Greek Field Marshal
2) Changed the Non-Aligned flag to the official Royal Greek Flag
3) Changed the Greek OOB to a more realistic one
4) Added the Metaxas Line, the second biggest defensive line in ww2 after the marginot. Spanning from Central Macedonia to Thrace. In the next version I'll make a more realistic one because I'm a fucking autist and the current one is just like the marginot line
5) Made Smyrna (Izmir) into a Greek core
6) Renamed """Instabul""" to Constantinople
7) Although he has nothing to do with the mod, since Hoxha is a Field Marshal in the game (as in real life), I gave him his portrait.

Many thanks to portrait anon for providing historical portraits

Although you should wait for 0.2 to come out until later today

With criticism coming form all sides calling it "Just another form of dictatorship" or "The same as an absolute monarchy". The first measures to counter the increase of economical instability are set upon the table:

The Aristocracy wishes to close the banks so maddened investors do not cause empire-wide bankruptcy.

The Conservatives propose a state-debt initiative, where the Empire guarantees the savings of the citizens and thus provide the money that the banks no longer have.

The Liberals defend a laissez-faire agenda, where the State does not involve itself in the banking system.

The Reichstag is in turmoil, and only the Kaiser can bring order by siding with one of the three propositions. What course shall the Kaiser take?

You need to win every doge election because if you lose the AI will engage in stupid wars, which isn't that bad, or worse, they'll steal your tradeposts.

There's a terrible, stupid event where the doge, if he has less trade posts than you (which will be always because AI are stupid about building them) can just take your trade posts with no consequences.

Anyway, you need to level up Trade Practices ASAP. Try to have a fuckton of sons lounging at court because that also increases the limit. On the other hand, they all get a family allowance so you don't want to have too many kids until your trade practices lowers then post penalty to at least -0%, otherwise you'll not get enough income improvement to offset the allowances.

The Kaiser sided with the Aristocracy in their desire to close the banks. Wilhelm hoped that the stocks would rise quickly after their fall, something that would soothe the panicked minds of most investors. Nevertheless, the decision caused an uneasy sentiment across the country, some saw their Emperor as wise, others believed he wouldn't be able to deal with this crisis, considering the decision. It only counts adult mens at your court though, so if you give a son/brother/uncle/whatever a county of his own he'll leave with his family and stop mooching. Of course you might lose more in taxes than you gain in allowance savings if it's not several children

>only war we ever lost

And after World War II I do not see any war the U.S. has really won. And no, Grenada does not count. The Korea War ended in a stalemate at the 38th parallel north, just where it had started. The Vietnam War certainly wasn't a victory. While the 1991 war against Iraq put the Kuwaiti Emir back into power, it did not beat Saddam into submission. The war against Iraq ended with a strategic loss. In Afghanistan the war will also likely end with a U.S. retreat.

Trade post strategy is simple
>Where can I build it the cheapest?
Lower distance to your capital and in areas with positive relations (this is always minimum in a province you own, 90 wealth) will be cheaper.

Try to concentrate many trade posts close together because once you start upgrading trade value this increases the monetary output of every trade post in that sea tile (which in places like scandanavia near denmark can be as many as 6 or 7 trade posts in one). They don't need to be near your capital, just near your lands.

It's probably worth noting that trade posts can be sieged in war and also can be upgraded to levy troops in war, so you usually want them near your lands to defend them.

Remember to upgrade your mansion for bonus trade posts. Once you really get the money rolling you can build more cities to fill out your counties and invest in universities. Universities mean more economic tech points which means you pick up speed toward the next level of trade practices. Spymaster should ALWAYS be studying technology for points. (Construction is a valid investment too because of how much you'll build as a republic)

For focus you generally want Business since your vassals are usually republics so it gives bonus opinion AND stewardship which is great, plus you can get the minting and trade route event chains. However, you can also go into the Learning event chain which can be a good pick for those tech points.

Business/stewardship = short term reward, good for when you're getting started
Study/learning = long term reward, increase technology

While the preparations of the assassination ran their course, the government found that the initial response to the crisis did little to placate it. Suicides skyrocketed across the Empire and the Reichstag bundled up together some initial plans to stave off the crisis as soon as possible:

-Commence a laissez-faire policy so the market may recover itself, proposed by the liberals.
-Prepare state investments to reduce the overall impact of the crisis on the lower stratas of the Empire, proposed by conservatives and aristocrats.
-Begin an emergency state planning of the economy, in order to keep various private interests from using the economical collapse to their advantage, proposed by a small section of social democratic parties.

(State capitalism won dice roll)
The Kaiser sided with the conservatives and the Aristocrats in their wishes to maintain the current economic policy of keeping a strict control on the markets. The smaller groups of the Reichstag fumed, but the Kaiser's words were absolute.
News came from Romania, as the murder of Codreanu failed, the various gunmen sent to Bucharest were uncovered by a snitch and were all slaughtered. The German investments in Ploesti can now be considered moot until an armed intervention occurs.
