Note, you also get an accuracy penalty if you are using a weapon that doesn't match your armor style.

mage and ranged armor gives the same armor bonus as melee armor that's the same tier as it.

also using armour that is not the same style as your weapon gives you an accuracy penalty
like the other anon said all armour in the same tier has the same defense but keep in mind that armour is now split in power armour and tank armour, the former increasing your damage bonus and the latter having slightly higher armour rating
there's also hybrid armour which doesn't penalize any attack styles and defends equally against all of them but has low armour rating compared to other armours of the same tier and no damage bonus

Had a tooth out this morning so I've had all day to play. Did a few quests, started training farming and then did some slayer. I quickly realised fighting bloodvelds that I'd make a decent bit if money if I brought a fire staff and nats with me but I then also came to the realisation I made a new account and don't even have 55 magic.
On the plus side magic has gotten a lot easier and cheaper to train now but it's also a lot more confusing to me; and I was always somewhat confused by it because high alching and teles were all I used it for. I got to 41 killing hill giants with an air staff but I'm not sure where to go from here. I also don't know what armour to be wearing or if it's worth buying any at all.
Can anyone help explain this newfangled stuff? The wiki training guide seems to be missing a bit.

>Nox bow - longer range than asc crossbows by two squares
>Asc bows - apparently slightly higher dps than nox and also slightly cheaper
>Seismics - expensive as fuck, no benefit compared to nox unless you're bossing
>Nox staff - cheapest nox weapon
>Scythe - much more expensive than drygores but also works as a halberd (increases the range of all your aoes by one square)

Definitely for rune drags you want t90 weapons, and a lot of higher level mobs basically require t90.
If you're starting on a new mob try using tank armor (ports) while you get used to them, then trade out for power armor after you learn how to kill them. Always use overloads and prayers, and almost fill the inventory with prayer pots and sharks, they're not that expensive really and if you run out of inventory space you can just drop them.
Basically, overgear and bring items to make it safer. Then remove precautions when you feel they are not necessary.

Void is hella useful for the accuracy , mainly for the first two phases. When you use straight up ranged armour she will MD you during shadow, which causes the 500-600 typless hits you probably get. A counter to that is wearing hybrid armour, which is why people use void, melee boots (use bandos) , and a hybrid cape ( max works fine).
For your blood phase trouble, when killing the minion leading into blood, bleed the minion with corruption shot and frag shot, and get off it. Wait until you can use an autoattack. Once you are able to, hit Nex with the AA and use snapshot right away. If done right and your auto hasnt missed, you will get both snapshot hits in, making blood be easier for your onsl to take her down. Anticipate, walk md to her, and snipe when her head tilts back. Once her siphon is over, you snipe should land. Use onslaught as soon as it lands, surge to cancel it. If she still has above 80k hp, click on her for an auto, dazing shot , tuskas wrath and then binding shot. With decent luck this should get you through blood phase without getting cucked by extra siphons.

Getting bored with osrs after realizing it's a lot of the same game I played ~10 years ago (no shit) I decided to give rs3 a try and I'm loving it
My account is only about a week old but I'm having a lot of fun questing and I'll probably marathon them until quest cape
I thought the game would be too different for me to enjoy but it was actually so different that I enjoy it more. The graphics are great. Seeing the game and all the areas I used to know as very dated looking even for its time change into what it is now is really neat
I've seen a couple things in game and thought to myself "easyscape" but I have to accept that this isn't osrs and I really want to experience everything rs3 has to offer
You guys are great too. I can't begin to explain how much better this general is from the osrs one.
