If we go by that logic you'd have to remake every single fucking human model. Mutants as well. Not worth it in the slightest because while the models are ugly as they're consistent, and in the end that's the thing that matters the most.

As for weapons? There are like 4 decent weapons packs - and the one that will put them all to utter shame will eventually come out - if you aren't willing to rip that shit off other mods, or you don't have the knowledge for ripping them off other games.
Environment textures? Absolute.
As for everything else? You can just rip it off other mods and nobody would care. Everyone and their mothers does that, everyone and their mother made an AMK meme merge.

And moreover, unless you're trying to do something "ambitious" like Gunslinger the guys that handle graphics will be subordinate to the guy that handles the coding, not the other way around.

1: I know jackshit about coding, and I'm not willing to put any effort in what I have in mind unless I'm sure I have the right knowledge on how to do it (including but not limited to how shit works without having any documentation, figuring out what drunken slav spaghetticode means)

2: if I were to make a mod you could be rest assured that the first release would take as many "shortcuts" (read: steal assets from other mods/games as possible) because that's the norm, and I'm positive that I won't find any half decent graphic guys willing to collaborate unless I prove that I'm onto something/demonstrate that I know what I'm doing.

Way to misunderstand what I'm saying. My point is that people grew accustomed to the shit character/mutant models and it isn't worth it to put effort into those because plebs don't fucking care about them looking downright terrible, and plebs don't care about the lack of animations either.

That doesn't mean that I wouldn't want to see actually good looking character models, but that's something you either entirely commit to or don't, otherwise the result looks like shit (look at all the mods that add character models from Metro and add a few OC ones, they look entirely out of place).

Weapons are a completely different matter, and a moot point, because, as I said, there are plenty of weapons packs, all of them look good (red dots aside), it isn't 2008 anymore.

Clear Sky was great in a lot of ways but the railroaded linearity, badly balanced faction wars, and engine crashing ruined a lot of it.

I still think CS was the best game visually and atmospherically. The first half of the story was also the best in the series.

Armorfag here.
I was doing handmodels wrong and didn't notice until I got about 75% of them done, gotta redo them.
Done with most everything else. Helmet overlays if you're into that thing, got it tagged on as optional with both vanilla and AO3 support. Mine will at least look a lot better than the two available on modbb.

Added some more helmets, hats, scarfs, armor, and clothing in.
66 regular outfits
30 unique outfits
35 headslot stuff
I'll try to double that all once I finish player models for at least most of them.

I still have to add in world spawns, trader shit, and world item-models. Also thinking about an optional balance tweak that starts you off with shitty garbage-bag/regular clothing gear and spreads out the armor progression a lot more to the point where your first actual armor feels like a really nice find.
Probably going to just make it so most armors are rarer on traders and cost a lot more than they do while making regular clothing/junk more prevalent and low-cost. Double repair costs on outfits too.
That's all going to be optional too if I do it.

Was wondering if I should do some unique enemies that drop some of the unique armors but went against it because that sounds obnoxious.

I am ALL for this, i loved the unique armor in SoC that you could only get from certain places, like Ghost's suit, the healing Beril e.t.c. i would love this tb h. But make it so it makes sense, like a unique merc suit will be dropped by a fucking expert merc e.t.c., not just random drops, but thats my opinion anyway,

Can we start a discussion to come up with a good, well thought out response on why there's no women innaZone, and if they do add them, what they should be like?

My argument so far has been that while there a lot of women who like adventure, entering The Zone is basically like going to a war torn African country for "adventure", everyone who goes in there knows they'll probably end up robbed, dead or raped, and those chances are only more likely if you are female.
I'm not saying there wouldn't be women in the zone, or women who wouldn't try to pass as men, it's just that they are going to be a noticeable minority to the point that your average cheeki is never going to see one.

If they do add female stalkers to meet, they shouldn't be model perfect or even pretty. They should be a little more like Payday 2's Clover, Bonnie and (to a lesser extent) Sydney, women who look like they get into fights and can handle themselves out here just like how most of the men are depicted. Most women who head into the zone are going to be desperate and only doing it to get enough money to leave their shitty living and get the hell out of there.

Damage might be a little... insane at first; with the ridiculous amount of bullet flyby sounds I have in WS and the damage, it makes for a pretty intense experience that I love. I'm adjusting the k_ap values to be witin the range of [0,0.75] now, but hit_powers are pretty high I believe. I'll likely put out a nerfed version of the ammo variants later on tonight or tomorrow after release.

Or are you talking about different ammos compared to everything else? Either way I'm hoping people will help me normalize ammo over time (weapons will only differ based on a muzzle velocity damage bonus really).

Yes, those bullets are too long for its rifling twist. They're not too light, the steel core makes them longer for the weight. They will keyhole as they're not spinning fast enough to be stabilized.

It's easy to tweak with an excel sheet luckily. Once I finish my config editor it will be even easier. Right now it just exports selected values from sections to an excel file, but I'm going to have it be able to import the excel sheets as well and use that.

But for the muzzle velocity, I'll use the m4a1 nad m16a3 as an example. Right now, the muzzle velocity damage bonus for m4a1 is 0.11 and the bonus for the m16a3 is 0.12. I can just change the damage coefficient in the excel sheet to get larger differences or decrease it to get less noticeable than that; though I think the settings I have now are pretty ok.
