I was pretty happy with my swordmaster, but only got to the midgame (35ish, around level 50 dungeons). Toggleable vampiric brand was great. Never gotten a warrior anywhere near that high, so I'm not sure how they compare.

weaponmsters are good
good standart swords are a lot more common than standart other weapon/shooter types
warriors are much more flexible in terms of armaments than weaponmasters, which is most noticable when on a not-sword master. They tend to wield vampiric weapons for a lot of the mid and late game, transitioning away only in the very lategame where the most common dangerous opponents are lifeless demons/undead.

Acquiring a weapon is badvice in itself, because both the short term and long term benefits of wand acquirement outweigh the benefits of weapon acquirement. Endgame weapons for every skill are available by the time you reach Orc. /Hasting, /HW, /Disint, /Dig, /Tele, these are things that provide a benefit to your character both immediately and with a much longer tail than weapon acquirement. And in the worst case if you get a damage wand, then you still have something that's good through the end of Lair.

First of all acquiring a good weapon is a huge benefit in the short term (more than a wand).
Second, polearms do not have an "endgame" weapon available until depths. As for long blades and axes, yes you can beat the game easily with a great sword or battleaxe, but acquiring a weapon still has a good chance of giving you a big boost. With maces acquiring wand is always better.
None of the wands you named provide any significant benefit immediately, assuming you have potions of haste, hw, and teleport scrolls, which you probably do. Especially digging killholes is the biggest shitter meme in the last year or two. Just use stairs, how hard is it to use stairs. People who dig killholes think they're using some kind of pro strat, which is laughable because stairs are superior in many ways and don't need wands.
There is one valid argument for acquiring wand over weapon. The benefit of a wand of hw/haste/tele becomes better than the benefit of acquiring a weapon once the player gets to depths and hell knights start dropping good weapons. If you're close to Depths or in Depths, then acquiring wand is better. If you're far from Depths then the benefit of a good weapon is more important.
So the chart needs 2 amendments:
1. If you're close to or in Depths, wand is better than weapon.
2. If you're using maces, wand is always better.

"Get a functional weapon" is vastly more important than "get a wand of digging." Weapon acq is a great idea if the Floor God hasn't blessed you. Wands are just delaying the inevitable if you don't have a beatstick.

I've concluded that what I need to beat the Serpent is a Demigod (Demonic Grasp, Evasion) Monk with a perfect stat spread, 120 life-rating, Boots of Faenor, The One Ring, Vilya, unbeliever ego with 15% reduction and a pip of all resists, standart Robe similar to Twilight but with great AC, gloves with all resists, cloak with all resists and an anti-summoning amulet.
Gloves and cloak so that I also get immunities to fire and cold but no Thanos because of AFC and aggravation.
