the patches can vary a good amount, like anywhere from 1gb to 3gb, they normally happen every other week tho

Soul Reaver + Poly on Cabrakan's 1 takes off a huge portion of health. You can make some interesting hybrid builds that will suprise opponents. I like health stacking then going full damage on certain guardians since casuals don't pay attention to the opponents build progression

Never did Siege so I dunno if roles change. From what I gather in my limited knowledge and experience roles are class based in Arena, Joust, and Clash but position based in most other gametypes. Like in those 3 your Guard is a CC tank, Warrior is disruption either DPS or Tank, Mage is DPS or Support, Assassin is ganking, Hunter is DPS. Im still vague on the other gametypes but it's lane specific and you can either have a jungle or not. Generally Assassins are junglers or support, Mages and Warriors can push, Hunters are support, and Guardians are still Tanks

So what could hirez actually do to at this point to make smite popular again? They've pretty much confirmed they don't care much about conquest, so as far as it smite's competitiveness goes, it's not high priority.
I feel like they'd have to revamp the game in some way. Like merging conquest and clash to create a new bigger conquest, with a bigger jungle, possibly some side jungle areas, more objectives, faster gold and etc. Make it fun. Make it great again.
I think one of the biggest reasons season 2 was so successful was because of the conquest revamp and item changes. In season 3 the conquest changes were so minimal that nobody cared. The item and active changes were cool and all but its not really on that level. And nobody really cares about Joust.

Even if Hirez did want to promote smite in that way, they'd have to update the model textures(so more people would want to use smite characters for SFM), and get higher quality VA's. Sexy skins and higher quality models would do way more than hiring some artist for porn.

The game is a clusterfuck and hirez won't admit anything. MM issues, e-sports dying off, playerbase declining.
The only reason hirez is able to keep a straight face is because with the release of consoles the playerbase is still relatively alive enough globally.. which means nothing at all for the most part. Consoles can only stay occupied with Smite for so long and a huge chunk of the console population already left after the initial full release months.
Hirez has to make some changes now or season 4 is gonna be a joke. They have 6 months to do anything remotely useful, but I'll bet my money they'll spend these 6 months shilling events and skins and save up enough shekels to promote Paladins in 2017. They have to make Smite's main mode more appealing. This means making conquest better, which for some reason they aren't.
One the biggest issues imo is how small conquest currently is. When you compare it to dota's map, you see just how much it's lacking. I mean, it's the battleground of the fucking gods, why does walking across the jungle take 3 seconds?
Junglers in smite are literally dick hugging lanes 24/7. Theres nowhere to fucking go, except to do a generic farming pattern.
In beta the conquest map felt HUGE. Like, it really felt like anyone could be anywhere if you didn't see them. The layout for the camps were shit though.
There are other conquest issues but I'd really like to see them update the map a bit. and like, actually update it. Not tag on some new camps like fire elementals.

Hirez listens sometimes, the issue is that a huge chunk of their biggest forum(reddit) consist of casuals who don't even play conquest. Even most people here stick to Arena and Assault.
There was a post on reddit some months back about the jungle that got pretty popular, I think it was the biggest thread in months. Some patches later hirez did the changes to the speed buff which was ok, but really didn't do anything but fix their own fuckup.
Otherwise they didn't really change anything, but they definitely saw the thread.
Conquest players are also always talking about show shitty MM is, but reddit just eats up PonPon's post when he spouts nonsense like "conquest is too hard if we focus on it we lose players :^) btw check out this new chest event".

It's not like this shit was in the works before OW. and no, I'm not implying blizzard invented fantasy shooters, I'm just saying that hirez didn't just randomly decide to start paladins. The decline in TF2 popularity sparked interest and Blizzard waiting for the right moment to shill OW. Hirez is pretty much just lagging behind them, hoping Blizzard fucks up at this point.

Hi-Rez can't seem to find a middle-ground when it comes to creating content. They listen to both the professional and the casuals (i.e., Reddit), but somehow manage to fuck up both sides of the equation. I've noticed a trend that Hi-Rez has in order to "add spice" to the mix, as it were. Whenever one meta gets too stale, they switch it up and force it back into a "different" (older) meta.
The only examples I can think of comes to Hunter builds. S1 had Devo, then it changed to Heartseeker with T2 Draining blade of lifesteal; further on in S2, it switched back to Devo Gloves, then sometimes Transcendence, then back to fucking Devos. Now they've nerfed Devourer's Gauntlet's to the ground, people are picking up Throwing Dagger. Mids ran with Doom Orb and Pen boots in early S1, then back to Toth, then Focus Voidstone came out so it was all about rushing pen, then we came back to Doom Orb in S3. Celestial Plate Helm is the new Focus Voidstone, too, now that I think on it. Supports got his hard, too, they had the basic shit like Watcher's into boots and Sov, so they nerf Sov and remove HoG so to "liven up" the support meta.
It's boring, and its the exact same thing Hi-Rez do to their game to try and keep it popular. They don't have any long-term plans to change anything and S3 showed it. They're doing patch-jobs and short-term ideas in order to suck up as much profit as they can. Why do you think they're shoving these events down people's throats? To goad as much cash as they can before everybody finally realizes how stagnant this game has become and move on.
