I did took them from Germany, but we only just defeated Axis, so benelux was freed by the peace conference, and I haven't been called into war with Allies by USSR yet, despite the fact that it started because of my support for communist coup in US. The entire world.

I finally managed to get airplane production as nazis to the point where I could attrition down the allies before crushing them. It was a cool op too, got the dream scenario of trapping half of France's army up in the netherlands like a bunch of retards then encircled the remainder with paratroopers before having Rommel drag his ballsack across Paris.

Now I'm not sure what to do though. There's retarded invasions as per usual that get slapped away with no effort, but I still have to murder the UK before I take care of the USSR. Will airdropping am entire army of paratroopers work? I didn't build enough of a navy I don't think. Four tech 1 carriers plus what you start with j think just runs away from every engagement.

On a different note, what does the AI do with lend lease tanks? I'll load into them and they'll use the artillery and small arms and planes I gave them but they just throw the AT and tanks into the garbage or whatever causes them to just lose all the equipment without using it.

Vanilla HOI3 was a grand strategy game though. It had moderate graphical upgrades, superior map quality, and more depth too each aspect of industry and warfare that HOI2 had.

HOI4 is a fucking arcade game. Simplifications have rendered it into more of a screen saver than even an aracade strategy game. It is basiclly what MOO3 was to MOO2 (not saying HOI3 was as good as MOO2 though).

Eventually it will be a cool game. It's just been 4 years in development with the end product being a ridiculous facsimile of what everyone expected.

The only thing that's been altered dramatically is diplomacy and lack of spying, both of which were major complaints in HOI3, which STILL EXISTS by the way if you really want to play a game with it's god awful tech system

Production mechanics, while certainly less rigid, are also much more indepth than the IC system was before, and a massive improvement over the singular production line that dominates all the earlier hearts of iron.

in terms of war mechanics it's literally just HOI3 without doomstacking. All the same combat stats and terrain modifiers are still there, you can do everything manually and have the same experience

This last test game was an overall success. The economy is in the best shape of any of the tests.
Most unemployment comes from Dye-producing provinces in India. Dye is another problem I oughta tackle at some point, as natural dyes were replaced by synthetic ones. Even if this happens, it creates a lot of poverty, especially in populous place like Bangladesh, which usually leads to some pretty serious rebellions in India.

It has nothing to do with realism. Yes, armies are structured in reality but the game isn't army structure manager nor is there any realism in some goon clicking every level of the army and managing industry at the same time. The hierarchy is about who controls which level of the army. Eg a FM is in control of an army and a subordinate to a FM in charge of a theater. The orders come from the FM in charge of the theater to the FM in charge of the army who then decides how he fulfills his orders. The FM in charge of the theater does not micro manage the armies of the FM in charge of the army.

The hierarchy in HoI3 is literally a system for applying passive bonuses for armies. And it's a pretty fucking complex system for such a mundane task.

Finally got my first acceptable result for the Irish too. The numbers are very close to IRL numbers.

Current game that's running though, they seem to hardly move at all. Didn't change anything in regards to that, so I guess it's just the random chances doing what they do. It isn't a problem as long as the historical outcomes remain a possibility.

During the famine the Irish were losing people at an incredible rate. Thousands leaving per month. In the current test game the famine also happened but Dublin has 247K pops. A huge variation, but the famine seems to be the biggest factor for the population numbers and this time I think the British helped them.

Most of the stuff regarding immigration controls are done. I only need to implement the immigration quotas restrictions and test it. I will probably make it so that the effectiveness of your closed border policy is based on your crime fighting rating. So you need to fund your administration in order to stop people from leaving.

Quotas and Closed borders will also put a bigger strain in a country's bureaucracy.

You're a fucking millennial. The high command orders the army group commander orders his army commander orders his corps commanders orders his divisional commander. These orders phases should be represented in a strategy war game because it takes time to complete commands and individual commanders have various skills.

HOI4 bypasses this strategic layering and doesn't represent any effective command and control system. You can literally mass all 300 divisions under one field marshal and issue orders to multiple fronts (other than arbitrary modifiers there's no flavor at all to the generals).

It should be more complex than HOI3. Industry should be just as simple (queue it up and let it run).

The HOI4 battle intelligence is just not present. At times there is some coherent line of defense, sometimes there is a deep penetration. Most of the time divisions are wandering back and forth while the player is assaulting through their front. Most of the time the AI lumps a corps together and it just sits still with no resistance in front of it giving the player days to reinforce his open line.

Why would I leave when people are posting video games? That's pretty good overall. I've seen people creating some pretty portraits for HoI4, modding and discussing the game. The thread is in its best shape in a while.
I'm not here for the attention, I just post the updates to let people that are interested in the mod or have suggestions for me to speak and know what I'm doing and to contribute to the thread. Unfortunately, that's a problem with the abstract battle system. And the CSA being usually pretty shit since they get released in a war with no soldiers against the US and all. There are several suggestions about that one anon made a long time ago, I will go through that in the future and hopefully that will make the war less of a minor annoyance for the US.

That's what I said. And no, there is no "should" or "should not". It's either it is or is not.
In a strategy game, by definition, strategy should be represented. RPing with your command structure is not strategy. So whether it's present or not is completely irrelevant.

It's also not a command and control system. The OOB system in HoI3 simply does not function as a command and control system, it functions as a system for applying passive bonuses.
I don't know if you know what the words command and control mean, but that's not what it does. Assigning a general to some unit doesn't make him command it, it just gives passive bonuses to the units stats.

It's simple enough as implemented in HOI2. Just needs more headquarter units representing corps/army/armygroup/front/high command with command radii and pauses while orders are issued to divisions to make it realisitic.

Then, complex battle plans several days of movement over 100km should be drawn up. Not so easy for multiplayer at 1 day per 2 seconds, but thats the kind of game that would make money.

If Command Ops had a strategic layer than it would be the best wargame/gsg ever developed. It's realistic, simplistic, and exciting to play.

Even with the Bonnie Blue Flag modifier the CSA routinely gets stomped. I think the problem is the mobilization impact modifier, which limits the brigades you can raise based on how much y on already have. So it doesn't matter of you can mobilize half of your population, if you have only like 6 brigades in service, you can only mobilize like 8 brigades.

The system would be decent if the fucking HQ units were capable of automatically chasing the army. That's the thing that completely killed the OOB system. The god damn HQs needed to be moved all the time and if you're already busy moving your tanks and infantry, it's easy to forget the HQ stack.

HOI3 headquarters and general system does represent a command and control aspect to the game. HOI4 represents some gook warband where literally the generals are only applying passive bonuses.

Without the various levels of headquarters assigned in HOI3 your units are less functional. This represents a system of command and control. Lacks character/depth but at least it is something. Meanwhile HOI4 feels like one of those faggy gook war games where teh great heru leads his warband over the enemy paper walls and onto the pagoda. Absolutely no structure or strategic depth.

Don't see how I'm using a 'muh feelings' argument, but simply it is how militaries basically function and must be represented in a strategy war game. HOI4 canceled out alot of basic strategic elements and is more of an RTS game rather than a GSG.

So as Germany I completed the national focus to take the Czechs and the game tells me I control them but their land hasn't flipped to me like Austria did. Then I tried to go to war with them and made my demands but it won't let me declare war. Is there something I'm missing?
