It's not like there's rubble of a tower that used to be in place of when you would go up in the first game where the infamous archers were. Probably Firelink. Go down the stairs next to Capra and you'll reach a shortcut that goes by the female undead merchant. Once unlocked you can come there from firelink and skip most of the lower burg.

Faith gets decent later on, but it's so awful early on they put in the Astora Straight Sword and its overpowered Raw infuse in a pretty transparent effort to band-aid the build into playability. Get that, make it Raw, and it will see you through to getting a lightning weapon.
Heals let you go longer without a bonfire, but there are so many bonfires they are pretty much useless in PVE. Tears of Denial and the poison cure miracle are situationally useful and Lightning Blade later on, but all in all Faith is a complete waste until level 80 or so.
I don't know what Faith did to From's family in a past life, but it must have been something bad.

Those are Infested Barbarians. They hit hard but are also slow as fuck and super easy to avoid and backstab. If you've made it this far, you should already know that the safest way to play is to aggro them one at a time with a bow and arrow.
Also, you don't ever need to encounter any blue dragons when going through the shortcut to Blighttown. Just cross the wooden planks after exiting New Londo and go directly for the nearest cave. There's Infested Barbarians that way too, so you'll have to learn how to fight them eventually.

All talisman have their own poise for unfaltering prayer. Saint's Talisman has the best spellbuff (Almost the same as Yorhska) but the unfaltering prayer will get broken even by a fartpoise is working as intended.
Sunlight Talisman has an ass for spellbuff, but its unfaltering prayer will take Black Knight hits like it's a broken sword hollow and give no fucks.
Canvas talisman is kind of the middle point.

Use better armour, weapons. UPGRADE your armour and weapons. Use a 100% physical defense shield.
I don't know what to tell you, the game is easy. Just lock on to enemies and press left or right until you can backstab them. this works for big enemies, other enemies just block their attacks and hit them while they're recovering. Also just put your shield up when they attack so you recover stamina, even if they attack 2 or 3 times, your shield only needs to be up when they attack.TL;DR git gud, the game is worth it

As i am now I can only cast a Sunlight Spear + Sunlight Talisman just once before I'm required to chug some Ashen Estus for more.
Now, I'm strongly considering dropping my STR from 30 to 20, effectively making me a Quality/Fai character. i don't want to drop my DEX any lower because my favorite weapons require it. I had that high Vit plus 40 STR because I wanted to use the Dragonslayer Greataxe and Greatshield. Then i dropped STR to 30 since I use mostly the Red Hilted Halberd plus a Lothric KNight shield and I wanted more Faith.

Well, after a few hours of desperately trying to make the caestus/demon fist/claws work, I'm throwing in the towel. I think they're still just as largely useless as before. The AR change is meaningless in the face of it being impossible to actually perform any sort of combo with either weapon. While the demon fist weapon art feels maybe a bit faster, that may be my imagination and people can still outrun it by straight up walking backwards.
Claws are still just thorough garbage to the core. They don't even have the speed of the caestus.

The actual good thing about the twin daggers is the dash, not the L1s. Corvian has no dash. It has no pressure.
Dashes unlike rolls have to be timed well if you want to iframe multiple hits though, but when they are they're awesome.
Dash r1 dash is free damage. Only like 150 something average with this setup, but it's still damage. Once you've gotten them down then you can go for greedy L1's.

Around 80 is probably the earliest you can make a non-glasscannon mage but you'll still be pretty heavily gimped, as at SL80 it's +10 weapons and you can invade up to 105 or so.
The only place an SL80 can really invade normally is probably at Crucifixion Woods for NG+ players or lothric castle/grand archives for slightly overleveled players.

Here's the deal.
I had an HP pool of 1951 at all times when taking damage, the clutch rings only added about 80-150 extra damage regardless of my absorption, but rather based on what type of attack I was being hit by.
The Prisoner's Chain and ALL clutch rings share the EXACT same damage taken debuff, and seems to be based on a STATIC amount of damage, regardless of absorption or any other defensive number that I could tell, which is why it's so powerful at lower levels because the damage is lower, overall.
The Prisoner's Chain and Clutch rings regain their effectiveness in high level PvP because the base defenses will catch up to the debuff effects, ESPECIALLY with high HP and/or High absorption.
Case and point: If you want to use either the Chain/Clutch rings, you NEED to level your vitality.
Armor is worthless without vitality alongside it. You need the base defenses to rise alongside your absorption, or they cancel each other out. Think of your defenses like pyro or something. Gotta keep your Faith(Defense) and your Intelligence (absorption)equal.
1951 HP, ~40% absorption (havels), and 40 vitality, I was able to survive a hit from a 40/40 quallity +5 Black Knight Greataxe with a significant amount of health remaining.
Absorption and armor is not a meme, but they need heavy investment to be worthwhile.
Professional tip: The Ring of Steel Protection is utterly garbage in PvP. I don't understand why it was designed to be so worthless, but it is. With the earlier BKGA, (+5 & 40/40) it allowed me to subtract a whopping 13 damage from the 1k+ damage of the riposte.

As long as you do your shit offline and it's possible to get from legit play (ie don't spawn yourself 15 estus shard without having beaten vordt) you'll be fine. I recommend giving yourself super speed, a one shot kill weapon, and rushing through the game with the game and steam cut from the internet.

I have a lot of play time on a pure STR character.
Firstly you don't need over 66 STR, when you 2hand your wep you get the 50% bounus STR so you have 99 STR when two handed. If you 2hand a wep and already have 99 STR then you don't benefit from the bonus at all. The one handed damage is the trade off but it's only ~30 damage on UG weps.

Clever rats ring and morion blade gave the hypermode benefit at like 30% HP or something. With something like 80 VIT and being in body form you could still have a fair chunk of HP while in hypermode.
Combined with Warding (take less damage) or second chance (get half your HP back instead of dying) NR vitgouge was definitely a thing.

Northern Regalia was a greatsword that scaled with your character tendency (sort of like a karma system, goes towards dark for killing NPC's, goes towards light for killing black phantoms). You could get it to pure white or pure black and make it do big damage through that alone.
That would let you put all your other points into VIT, end, and the other stats to get warding/second chance.

Generally you'd just keep playing normally - chances are you'll get knocked back into hypermode anyway, rather than dying outright from 50% hp.
It's a good game but the PvP scene is almost dead and I'd imagine invasions generally are too.

Go 27 str/40 dex/30 luck, put hollow infusion on your greatsword + offhand weapon. You now have a 629 AR weapon that's infusable.

I used a INT build for a while, used CSS, CHS and SS with MLGS ect. I found I'd hit most players in honourfag 'duels' with both CSS and CHS doing a shitload of damage without any backsteping or anything. I'd literally just cast and stand there, although most of these types of players are most likely braindead.

They both allow the use of the Astora straight sword, which is all the melee you need until level 50, but the pyro is far more powerful in offensive magic and can eventually make Chaos weapons, which are hilariously powerful. My 40/40 pyro's +10 Chaos longsword has an AR of 520.
