Enemies deal a lot more damage so you can't steamroll your way past bosses and even regular enemies like those fire lizard things, and the damage boost is noticeable against certain bosses like the CPU, in the original game you made sure to kill the defense core while leaving the attack core alive and just healing the minor damage it dealt, in the DS version? You kill the attack core before it murders your entire party in two turns, no ifs ands or buts about it and punch through the CPU to get past the defense core's healing.

Unless you really want Yda or Papalymo's SSBs too, pull on whichever BSB banner has Thyrus (which will almost certainly be on the banners) since the overall quality of those banners is a lot higher and they should have the 2x pull rate for Thyrus like the XIV banner does.

I crafted and honed to r3. I've never used dismissal before, but it seems pretty good. There aren't a lot of ultimates that are immune to the stun effect, and it can help you catch up on healing if needed. It's especially good at the start of a fight when mitigation isn't up, or in the weak phases at the end of a fight. I would hone it, especially if you're just considering crafting an r1 saint's cross.

Considering on average I lose 2 damage taken medals on the event bosses, most of the time from scripted attacks, simply because I only have 100% buffs instead of 200% buffs of which there's a total 2 in the game that they are really hesitant about handing out again..... yeah.
But that's DeNa's fault for sitting on the fencepost between designing it around Wall and handing it out, or designing it around not having Wall and letting it die.

Tyro's HP is actually pretty good (over 1000 more than Y'shtola at level 99) and his other stats being shit don't really matter because he can equip literally anything so he can make use of any obscure weapon types you have synergy for like hammers and shit. With SG or his BSB he's a god tier support and even without those, his versatility still makes him an asset.

It does get more fun when you finally get to use 3 party members and have more freedom in your strategy but that's 20+ hours in. However even then its still pretty much just about getting stagger. I did enjoy the game more then but I can understand why people don't want to put in that much time to get some kind of enjoyment from the combat. And people say that XIII-2 improves the combat but I've never felt that way, aside from being able to switch leaders its virtually the same. Also XIII-2 is far easier, there are almost no challenging regular encounters or bosses and you can get through the game with almost no strategy as long as you have a MED/SEN. SEN/SAB are useless.

Na I think they care about the arcade scene for the game, they just announced a national tournament for it. Also as barebones as it is at the moment I think its still doing alright in terms of profitability for them.
I'm really just starting to think that they are very understaffed. Because when you think about it they have reused a lot of stuff from Dissidia PSP, like most of the movesets for the characters are the same with small tweaks here and there. So if they already have a baseline to go off of for all the characters that were in the PSP game what could be taking them so long if all they needed to do was make the new model and create the movelist? And how hard could it be to pump out a character a month. And that's why I think the conclusion is that they are understaffed and don't have many people working on it as they should. Compare it to a similar arcade game Gundam EXVS which is a 2v2 arena style fighting game and they consistently pump out one character a month along with balance changes.

Be smart with mythril is the best advice. Save up and avoid pulling on all but the best (ie festival) banners. You may take a hit or two in the short term struggling with events but it will benefit you a lot more down the stretch.
Once you have built up a decent set of relics and hones to get you through events, you can afford to be less anal with your mythril spending.

It's completely honor system, other than having to have proof of the proper party make-up when you beat Neo Exdeath.
There's not really much of a point in -not- adhering to the rules, though, it's not like you win anything for beating the game.
And having a ready save before the temple/after getting the first shards is standard practice, don't worry about it.
Hell, it's not even really against the rules to use a hack to unlock all the jobs from the start - you need good equipment for a lot of them anyway that you won't get for a while.

Basically every 3 months give or take, they do a "festival" and have a 5-stage (with 5 banners) event. These festival banners essentially are the best mix of quality and quantity you're going to get a chance to draw for.
As an example, a typical regular event banner (like serah's or any before it) features:

>3 regular SB relics
>2 generic relics with no SB (or a shitty shared SB)
The upcoming festival, by comparison will have 5 banners that each feature:

>no generics at all
Needless to say, every festival's banners are always the best bang for your bucks.

If you're playing an early unlock mod, then your class is unlocked and you can use it from the start. If you're playing normally, then you Freelance until you get that job (or a job you can use).
Do keep in mind that Freelancers can equip anything, which can be pretty strong on its own merits. And also, since Chaos order can be mixed up this year (before they were ordered so that the earliest jobs would come first), if your Wind Crystal job is from the Earth Crystal, you can still use Freelancers until then.

You're just Random, right? No other modifiers? You're allowed to use unlocked skills, and even swap classes around. You just need to keep the minimum number of appropriate jobs equipped total. Even when you're at all 4 jobs unlocked, though, if you want to change jobs on someone, you just need to swap them between two characters.
Natural/Classic are the only modifiers that lock characters into a single class (Upgrade sort of does, since everybody has to be the same class, but that's got its own quirks)

Also whenever you get stuck, aggressively abandon what you're doing and step into a train to enter another area so you can get stronger with the quests and treasure from those regions. Lightning Returns IS Sidequests. You HAVE to do them. Completing side quests is the main way to gain stats. Plus in order to get the true ending you need to complete like 90% of them.
I think part of the problem of trying to remember XII's music is that there are so many tracks that are played only in one single area or event and absolutely nowhere else. The only ones I can remember are the few ones used throughout the game, namely the victory theme and world map theme.

I'm a bit worried that I'll be discouraged from even playing the game if I see certain jobs turn up when I get my crystals tomorrow. Blue mage because of how broken it is, berserker because of how broken/boring it is, and so on. Anyone ever done 4 job fiesta runs in the past that they thought would be shit but turned out more fun than they'd have expected?

The fun is in experimentation. Each lineup needs to take down the bosses in a different way, and the variety of V's equipment and skills means that every team has its own strengths.
I will say that berserkers just suck, they're not even good physical attackers. Anything else is fun though.

Berserkers are literal shit, there is no getting around it. Its not broken, if anything it just removed enjoyment from an otherwise enjoyable run. For me at least I just hate that you are essentially making a run that has "four" in the name, and turning it into a "three". Where the hell is the fun in that?
But with the new shilling strategy they are going with this year, berserkers (and more specifically "BERSKER "RISK" ") is well on its way to becoming reddit's latest and greatest overused meme.
If anything berserker should provide an option to be EXEMPT from four job fiesta, not included multiple times. Reddit wins again desu

My fiesta last year was a lot more fun than the one this year but that's because I got good jobs.
I had blue mage, time mage, ranger and dragoon
This year I have black mage, Mystic Knight, Geomancer and chemist.
I was never fully aware of how few healing options you have beyond potions and white magic for so much of the game. I'm about to go to the 2nd planet and still can't buy hi potions. Pretty much all my boss fights are dps races to see if I can kill them before they can kill me since I can't heal and the basic potion heals a whopping 50 hp. Had to buy and break some rods on the last few in order to make it, tempted to grind a buy more rods but i don't remember when the -aga spells become available
