This is something that I've had to cope with. The first problem is that is it even worth it eventually. Easiest way is to imitate others: just listen to lot of people (if you don't have social contacts just visit chat rooms/ watch television and find out hottest topics) and you can pretty much find different patterns. Essentially you have to become a very good actor.
The difficult part is when you realize that it's essentially all big lie and you are never actually meant to fit in. It's much more satisfying to do what you are actually capable of doing. Your first step should be to actually consider if the goal you are working towards is actually worth all the effort.

Thank you so much for your kind words but I just can't see it. Even if I am a good person, what is the point if I can't do anything with it? I consistently fail to bond with people time and time again. When I was in heavy therapy it was more painful for everyone involved than it was just slogging through the day and pretending that I wasn't depressed.
