But I would also like to know if she's very worth-while to get or if I should be picking up the weapons since I don't have a single SSR weapon.
Also, how exactly does the weapon pool work? Out of all my weapons, the stats are applied to my entire party? If I had a full team of people who used, say Swords, a full pool of swords will be more worthwhile? Or doesn't it work like that at all and it only affects my own character's stats and element type?

weapon type does not matter, what you want to be doing is stacking multipliers, a common build is 6 magna, 1 baha, 1-2 unknowns.
I'm not sure I'd recommend bothering with the weapons if you can't mlb them though. Theyre kind of sparse but light of all elements does not lose anything drastic with a light unknown missing.

3) Weapon pool is based on the stats of what you put in and the elements they are+skills they have.
For example, Yoda comes with a katana. It's Dark element, but its skills boost both Dark and Water attack. This would benefit a Dark and Water pool. Leveling it up would give you a small stat boost in ANY pool, but increasing the skill level would give a much larger boost but only for those two elements.
Now, some characters do have preferred weapons. Let's say you had a lot of Yoda katanas and you made a Dark pool out of them. Vira prefers swords. She'd get the boost from the katana's skill level and stats. Naru prefers katanas. She'd get the stat boost, skill boost, AND a bonus for it being her preferred weapon. But this is mostly irrelevant. Focus on stacking strong weapons of the same element.

As a relatively new player I think you are better off getting one copy of each SSR weapon and leveling them to 40 solely for their stats until you get better units and weapons, if you can accomplish that -then- try to get her. Power gained from SSR weapons that early in the game is very useful and will stay useful for quite some time, Sophie probably wouldn't be as much help... That said if you have some attachment to her from her game then there's no telling when the next chance to get her will come along (if ever) so get her in that case and focus on getting SSR weapons in another event.

The pastebin has a weapon guide that might not make much sense the first time you go over it, and I think when I was playing through the game the guides never helped me much either.
So basically you've got three types of sources for damage that come from unknown weapons, normal weapons and magna weapons. Stacking just one type of multiplier, that is to say, you have nine magnas in your pool isnt gonna help you much in the long run. You have to mix it up with other types, so giving your pool some unknowns and normal or bahamut weapons (theyre on the same multiplier), you can drastically raise your damage.
But yes, go over all the guides in the pastebin, the info will all consolidate eventually.
Additional tips involve... just try getting as close to your renown cap as possible every week and playing poker to buy ap and bp pills daily.

As for reading the guide as everyone else says, do read it but don't worry if things go over your head for now, after messing around with the menus (upgrading, uncapping, checking stats, etc) enough you'll get the hang of things by properly identifying the things described in the guide by seeing them in the game itself.

I'd really REALLY recommend you to buy an account if that is a concern for now. For 20 to 30 bucks (the price of a start dash or less), you can get quite a number of good accounts with some 3 SSRs on-color. I've found accounts with complete endgame Odin teams for as cheap as 40 bucks.

Is Agni bad? It seems like it boosts pretty much every fire weapon skill that's not a magna, right? And fire uses such a small magna pool already. What does Agni's bonus count as when I'm using the calculator?
