Marvelous has announced Story of Seasons: Cherished Friends of Three Villages, scheduled to be released in Japan June 23 for 3DS systems. Introduction and gameplay trailers have been released:

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd is being localized for PC in 2017, while Trails of Cold Steel II NA releases for Vita and PS3 are due this fall. Steam and the PS Store currently have sales for TitS and SC.
Ys VIII Vita is set for a June 21 release in Japan, PS4 version in 2017.

The random events in RF4 are a nice touch to add extra character to the townspeople, but holy shit I fucking hate on how it's implemented. Being unable to have participants join you during it, and requiring you to do these tasks is such a pain in the ass.
I mean I'm in this random event where Margaret, Clorica, Forte, and Xiao are involved. First they were at the cafe with Meg talking about eating a cake. And then later on I saw Meg talking about Jones and Nancy. The day after all four go back in the cafe and continue talking about the medical couple. Now what the fuck am I supposed to do?

The mining is just RNG. You can save and reload until you get the ore you're after.
A real problem is the framerate. It's very noticeable when you're at your farm.
Also, the early game is really rough and managing your money is very important. I recommend playing on the seedling difficulty.

The framerate doesn't dip wildly. When it drops it hangs around what feels like 18-20 and it stays like that until you go to a new area. It doesn't feel very choppy because of that, but you can feel it with your eyes.
