It's pretty fun. You can easily win 3v1 or 4v1s since you're so tanky-- you can practice parrying too since you aren't punished for it. You're a literal god of war and they're just flies that you bat away.

Cursed one lets you hit ghosts without additional item. Regular has great holy modifier and has one of the biggest ar in it's category with max stats. Abyss GS is the best greatsword in game PvP wise. If you're playing PvE only then I suggest going with the holy or cursed one

I'd say level 20 +2 is ideal for undead settlement and high wall. It's a bit low for swamp invasions, but you'll still get summons quite often

It's much easier to just have a higher level character trade you all the rings you need. After that, you just need to do Sirrius's questline to get the axe yourself and rush through the game once to get 15 +10 flasks... or 14, since that gives you 7 in invasions. You can't summon help each since level 20 is much too low for co-op.

What a fun way to end a duel
hey all i'm doing a first time blind playthrough of dark souls 1 and want to ask about how to deal with bosses (and also make a blog post)
my favorite games are turn based RPGs so i am very very bad at games like this, i am used to just grinding hard to progress in games
i'm not into action games cause they never really interested me but i tried this one out and i can feel there is really something special about it (i can't explain, but i hate games like these so i am surprised myself) i want to give it a real chance
i am on the minotaur (second boss i think) and my progression on him right now is to climb ladder, hit him with skydive attack, then climb ladder again to fight him there (i think it's easier up in the tower cause the hallway is so narrow!)
i have a problem with dodging his attacks so i die very fast, right now i am trying to memorize the way he holds his weapon pre-swing and try to find out where it will land based on his stance so i can dodge
so here's my question how do i "learn" a boss?
i'm not really looking for specific advice like "here's a good build", i just want to know how should i approach playing an action game like this one, what do you say guys?

I was absolute dogshit in DeS, DaS, and DaS 2 in terms of bossing. Then something just clicked in DaS 3 and I can do every single boss without getting touched at all.
I think it's just something to do with fighting the boss to beat it perfectly, instead of just winning and moving on.
Just keep dying over and over until you learn the moveset. Or you could cheese him w/ jump attacks or summon help. The more cheese tactics you use, the harder further bosses will be

Try to memorize his moveset and figure out which attacks you can retaliate and which ones you should just stay defensive for.

Learning how/when to roll is important. You're already on a good path by trying to learn the moveset of the enemy. Most of the times, that's the most important part. Don't get cocky, play it patiently and don't be afraid to die.

Eh, Prisoner's Chain and Hunter's ring are the only things you really "need". You can get the RoSP and Hornet's later while going through the game.
Prisoner+Hunters is pretty damn helpful if you have it right away. I'd suggest buying 600 gold pine resins on your twink then starting a new game and unlocking dancer+Vordt.
Then you can have fun with people invading you expecting a new player but getting Hitler instead.

You're actually using the easiest strategy against him, sometimes you can outrun him to the other side and jump down again.
A few tips
Two hand your weapon for extra leaping damage
Against most solo enemies, you can wait when they start an attack then roll backwards once or twice, should give you plenty of chances to observe his attacks, but you're approaching correctly, learn the tells for each move and try to see when you can sneak a hit. You can do this every time an enemy is alone.
Also please use capital "I"s.

Against a single player or multiple ones? Anyways, you should avoid using split dmg weapons as long as possible and take them out as a finisher of sorts. The buff will help you in single battles for sure

Parries are great because they discourage braindead spammy play styles but having some guy 1 shot you from full health because he eventually landed his fifth parry is stupid and anti fun.
You should be rewarded for hitting a parry no doubt but you shouldn't instantly win the fight because you predicted one attack.

I'm at 70 something and have a bit over 1800 hp with life ring and favor. I can R1 spam my sword like 10 times in a row. People see me swinging and think I must be running out of stam and go in for a hit but nope I'm still going and they eat like 700 damage from 2 swings. Let go of your shield, let go of your armor. Get your weapon and 2 hand it. Iirc 2 1hand r1s stagger him. Always roll into attacks, if you time it right you get iframes and stay in position to counterattack.

Find a weapon/playstyle you like and raise its primary damage stats
Vit and end are important.
For armor, other than looks, you should only care about poise and weight, other stats are irrelevant

Reverting humanity allows you to summon help but leaves you prone to invaders (other players that WILL kill you, have no doubt)

Not a single thing DaS1 does better. The bosses are lame (literally speaking, their moves are slow and they barely fight back) and a handful of miniboss enemies from DaS3/BB like sharkogres/curse spiderdogs/sullybeasts would be considered full-fledged bosses in 1. The regular mooks are no better. The build diversity is lower than even in BB.
It's an outdated game and it's formula has been improved and further polished by it's successors. It was fresh back in 2012 but now it's meh at best.

This weapon makes dash actually good. The other weapons that feature it have way too slow a startup. Bandits dagger is okay, but the dual wield of this thing lets you stunlock for alot more dps every now and then
You have to stack elemental scaling buff thought for this to work. I'm 40/40 INT FAI and the weapon has about 200 AR by itself, gets another 220 or so added via Carthus Flame Arc. Another 100 or so if I decide to activate power within for hyper mode burst kills.

This was before people learned the value of ADP remember and weren't used to the roll times of Dark Souls 2 PvP, so people were getting hit by it a lot on average. Plus it was much faster before the nerf killed its speed so it was at least possible to hit someone with it due to its range with basic 1HR1s. They overnerfed it incredibly though, and I don't think it needed a nerf at all in hindsight really; this was also before people knew how elemental resistances worked in 2 and didn't know how pathetically easy it is to get almost max if not full resistance to any type of elemental damage, so the MLGS even at its best was easily countered if people would've known the mechanics of the time. In DeS, the nips settled on 120 because it was the perfect space where you could specialize in one of the various meta builds and still be a build without being a jack-of-all-trades monster. It was sort of the break-even point for stats where going above didn't make you directly stronger, it just gave you more options.
In DaS1, people carried over 120 because the stats worked functionally the same (some important exceptions like poise and the function of endurance, but they all balanced out to about the same in practice), and meta options were very similar.
In 2, people kneejerked up to 150 for a couple reasons: Most players believed, before we knew what ADP did, that gouging ADP would be mandatory for pvp, and were making allotments for a 40ADP breakpoint. It was also believed at the time that 150 would be necessary for casters to function, due to hybrid int/fth scaling, and that strength builds would be disadvantaged at any lower SL due to the excessively high stamina cost for strength weapons, and the split of stamina and equip load into two separate stats. In practice, this didn't pan out and 150 basically allowed for a meta of "do everything" builds with no specialization that could cast, wield more than half of the weapons in the game optimally, and buff all at once with no tradeoffs.
People got used to this sort of paradigm where every pvp build is a universal jack-of-all-trades build with no tradeoffs and the general excess and glut of levels to be put wherever you want (and thus no pressure to build well or be efficient with points) made the general community lazy about it.
That attitude carried over to Bloodborne, where the majority of the community was pushing for a level 140-150 meta in a game where endurance was a worthless stat, vigor had a low softcap and there was no equip load or attunement whatsoever. That attitude has carried over to 3.

The thing to consider with 2 as well is that until the Agape Ring was added a year later there was no incentive to stop leveling with SM pvp. And the biggest reason for a 'meta' in the first place was a common level to get the highest amount of PvP at a viable build, which became pointless in 2.
150 was decided far too quickly I agree, but in hindsight I'm partial to the SL 200 meta for 2. The thing is you needed points in INT/FAI for any build just to get proper elemental defenses and not make buffed elemental weapons that OP, you needed a decent amount of ADP depending on your loadout and ATT, you wanted at least 40 in a damage stat if not 50 for INT/FAI, and you wanted above 20 Endurance at 50 Vigor due to how highly damaging many combos are. And with how many stats there are in 2 it really doesn't create that much hybridization imo, by the time the DLCs came out 150 was really only the place of RoB+Flynn builds.

Problem with pirate is that it lets you see others but only interact with other piratefags. In practice this means most invasions or signs will be failures.

There are several restrictions on shit you can drop or more precisely shit other guy actually sees because you can drop a lot of shit that just won't display in other guy's world.
So you can't dupe upgrade and infusion mats, covenant duty rewards (ears, tongues, vertebra ...), boss souls, magics. You can drop weapons / rings made from boss souls and covenant rewards you get for turning shit in as long as they aren't magics.
Upgradeable shit also has a limit. Other guy won't see shit with higher upgrade level than that particulartoonmade so far (if you drop +10 shit to guy who has +3 weapon max he won't see it)
Every upgrade level of gear that go to +5 max (twinkle/scale upgrades) counts for 2 levels of 'normal' max +10 weapons.

For the most part they nearly aren't, they're back to just being mostly challenge run tier again. They're not unusable, but DS2 and BB remain the only games where they're both fun and can be really good.
